Nic said a while ago (maybe to Harry?) that she hadn't banked the money as she would have to leak it in to the business gradually because of money laundering regs. Which also applies to giving it to charity. But Nic could tell George anything and he'd believe it so she could easily get away with keeping it.

80s thanks, of course they are in the Vic. Nic has hurt her ankle and has crutches, maybe that is something to do with Chelsea.

the80sweregreat · 11/06/2026 22:08

Giving that amount to charity is just madness. Maybe some of it , but not all of it! George is being ridiculous

Meredusoleil · 11/06/2026 22:17

This is the 2nd time in recent months that someone has had a large sum of money gained in an unorthodox way and then refused to use it for what it was initially intended for: Johnny and Tim anyone?

Surely to get rid of that guilty feeling, they should put the dirty/blood money to good use, rather than just waste it?

Yes, it wasn’t even Eddie’s money as in he didn’t accrue it for crying out loud! That was Gloria.

the80sweregreat · 11/06/2026 22:27

Yep, Gloria saved the money up didn’t she! She would want him to put it into the business.
Maybe a bit for charity, but honestly he should think again.

Shellingbynight · 12/06/2026 08:00

They have never said how much it is have they?
I assume we're talking around £10k.

Southeastdweller · 11/06/2026 21:20

I was wondering where Nic is keeping the money? She’d have to answer questions about where the money came from if she banked it. Who keeps a low six figure amount of money in cash at their gaff in east London?!

There is a safe in the office at Harry's Barn i think

The money Gloria saved? Eddie said it was “in the low six figures”.

Oh did he - thank you South.

So £100k plus.
How on earth would Gloria save that much, even over many years, surely not possible. So he got the money some other way, doubtless illegal. Not that Nicola would care!

the80sweregreat · 12/06/2026 08:42

The club does have a safe, but Nicola could also ask Phil to use his safe. She’s a Mitchell and he wouldn’t agree to the charity idea for all of it and keep quiet.

Shellingbynight · 12/06/2026 08:56

I'm still perplexed about this money. We saw him hand over a sort of sports bag full of cash. I don't know what £100k looks like but surely there would be more than a bag full. Anyway, it'll all probably conveniently disappear off the radar now until we find Nicola has leaked it into Harry's Barn.

the80sweregreat · 12/06/2026 09:01

I’m sure the money story will be dropped , but Nicola did warn him that giving it charity means she can’t bail him out anymore. Gloria having that amount in cash was bizarre , savings are one thing, but that sort of amount is more inheritance or redundancy type figures and that would have been in a bank. I feel it was stolen money or something else going on there to have so much cash hanging around. Another mystery.

Leftrightleft · 12/06/2026 09:16

It depends on Gloria's income but if she saved £200 per month for 50 years then that would be 120,000. They certainly lived frugally, but was that out of choice or necessity? We just don't know enough about them, but the money is more believable than many other recent plots

Southeastdweller · 12/06/2026 09:22

I agree @Leftrightleft - it’s not much of a stretch to believe she saved that money over decades. They probably both worked.

I recall one or two people here saying on the previous thread that Gloria and Eddie could have sold their former council property, having done right to buy, and made a ton of profit on it. But nobody keeps at least £100k under the mattress or wherever it was they kept the money.

OP posts:
Shellingbynight · 12/06/2026 09:23

Yes we probably shouldn't think about it too much @Leftrightleft
The fact it is cash makes me think it's dodgy, as you say @Southeastdweller who has that type of money in a sports bag.
The whole Eddie returning plot was absolute rubbish.

Leftrightleft · 12/06/2026 09:32

She maybe didn't trust the banks, possible mental health issues? I can believe it. They were both living in their own world (their house/flat was a time warp), old fashioned. They possibly never feared it being stollen due to the company Eddie kept, and because they kept the appearance of being poor

the80sweregreat · 12/06/2026 10:03

For Nicola to go to all the trouble of lying and scheming to get that money for George to say ‘ I want it given away ‘ must be heartbreaking. Especially as she was trying to save his business and her own from bankruptcy. Ravi had the burger restaurant closed overnight because of the tax man and seems this might go the same way.

thisoldcity · 12/06/2026 13:18

I have really felt for Ian recently over the accident - I mean, he's not usually a sympathetic character at all, but this is all an accident and Chelsea was quite right that Jordan ran off because of her and also no one was watching him, It's just a combination of events.

Jasmine also had my sympathy for the whole twin/boyfriend shenanigans. She thought her life was finally coming together and they do this to her. I'm glad Oscar finished it off with both, it was the right thing to do.

I also felt very sorry for Josh's adoptive mum waiting to pick him up from the station and have a nice evening with him, only to be binned off for the family he's only just met at the last minute. That showed what he's like, I think.

the80sweregreat · 12/06/2026 13:28

Josh is flaky. He was meant to be going away with friends on Monday , but came back ( for some reason I can’t remember) He said twice I’m seeing Sandra and didn’t. He upset Jasmine. I agree he needs to go to Southend and take his time coming back.
Why isn’t he working in the salon ? With Dee off he could keep it ticking over a bit even if it’s just cleaning or booking appointments or training or something. Or maybe they have just closed it! He seems to have only done a day or two there so far. That won’t last!

the80sweregreat · 12/06/2026 13:30

It’s the drink levels that are doing it for Ian. If he had eaten something he may have been alright. Or just walked home or got a cab.

He really thought he had hit the bin.

murasaki · 12/06/2026 13:42

Also depends on the beer. Not all beers are 'session' beers....

Shellingbynight · 12/06/2026 13:51

Ian was unlucky in that he didn't eat, drank the beer shortly before leaving rather than early in the evening, and was then very quickly tested. So his body had not had time to process the alcohol.

I agree Josh is a bit flaky. But, like Oscar, he's very young. I'm sure we all did daft things in relationships when we were 19, I certainly did! When you're still doing it at Max's age that's a different kettle of fish!

murasaki · 12/06/2026 13:55

Yes, Cindy was right to point that sort of thing out. She was great yesterday, I do like her, even though she's a nightmare generally.

murasaki · 12/06/2026 13:56

Ian could get Chelsea charged with assault, although he probably won't.

ChillingWithMySnowmies · 12/06/2026 14:40

the whole thing is rubbish
Ian didnt reverse fast enough or far enough to do the damage they're saying jordan has. i've SEEN a kid hit by a car on a crossing and he was just sat there crying his eyes out.
Even if he got that injury, the hospital wouldn't be telling Chelsea the things they are.. i have spinal nerve damage and they always tell you to wait for bruising to heal before they make ANY judgement on any future mobility.
