Interior design masters new series - let the battle commence

The next series starts on the 21st April. Looking forward to banquettes, and bizarre paint choices, and upcycling of old junk. DD and I are rewatching the old series and I’d forgotten how crazy some of the rooms were!

Emmeley is definitely the more talented and has learnt the most. I hope she doesn't go.

The judging is irritating me again. They get a ridiculously low budget then told off for using cheap materials.

Well, I've completely come round to Emmerley's side and can confidently say that's really rubbish.

I do think Emmerleys rooms were the worst. Mind you the others weren't much better..

Emmêlée would hate working for Next. It suits the other two far more - they have pretty mainstream taste.

If I was emmerley I would be livid to have list out to those awful rooms.

Sophisticated is not a word I would have used for Sophie’s rooms. I sometimes think Michelle sees completely different rooms to the ones we see

I think Michelle has her eye on who would work best with Next more than anything.

OMG if it’s such a premium space for such premiership footballers, give them more than tuppence ha’penny and longer than ten minutes to do it.

Dated bling springs to mind. I find her rooms over decorated and just too incoherent. I’m bemused that she is still in the contest.
Lia’s style isn’t mind but I can generally see what she is trying to achieve.

If so they need to rename the programme “product design master” not “interior design master”. Its a different skill set even if every famous designer ends up making their money from “stuff”.

And weirdly emmeley actually had product design experience. Just not 'Next' style i guess.

Every week the best ones go. Emmerley was by far the better designer. I’m really disappointed with this series. Both Lia and Sophie’s homes were ‘ooh aren’t I wacky!’. They’re not ‘interior design masters’ they’re just ‘ok at decorating in a style that’s not too offensive to Next/John Lewis/Dunelm’. Do better BBC, it used to be good now it’s just basically a pretend advert for the company the winner will work for.

Yes I thought his interiors looked very samey - brown with a bit of glitz.

Reminiscent of Hoppen and her acres of greige with greige accessories.

I like it, but I'm sure he said he didnt like all the brown...

I wonder whether Emmerley already had some sort of ‘product’ contract, which meant that a Next colab wasn’t going to happen or would cause a lot of legal work?

I also wonder whether the “judge” doesn’t get to see the brief.
