ER rewatch netflix

Was an avid ER fan 20+ yes ago. See its now on netflux, started rewatching. Its so superior to anything I have watched recently on TV. I had forgotten just how good it was! Anyone else?

I am just on the episode where Carter gets tenure. The job system is so different in the US - I remember it being a big deal for Ross in Friends as pp say. I assume the salaries are much higher though - when Susan took her new role, Weaver offered her $1000 more a WEEK - and this was obviously years ago!

I think the management jobs are big money, Weaver seems pretty rich and Romano did as well. Anyone below them not so much (apart from Carter!)

I'm midway way ish in series 13. I never liked Sam and Alex- but really, the child never had a chance and she was always a hypocrite (he got caught stealing stuff- but he saw her actually shoot his dad) .
I think Sam was one was one of the characters I liked the least in ER. Never got her relationship with Luka- it felt like ' he's too attractive to be on his own' - she really didn't seem to be his type , at all.

I’ve just watched the one where Mark died 😢😢 It’s very rare a TV death brings a tear to my eye but that was so sad.

It was a sad death - but I do think other deaths affected me more, on the second watch. I thought Mark's death was a big one. But re-watching, there have been others that had a bigger impact.

Just seen Pratt's death and that is really hard to watch. He knows what's happening when it takes a turn for the worse and the look of terror on his face as a tear rolls down his cheek is really something.

I hate Pratts death, I think the perfect ending for me would be him being head of the ER.

Yes, Pratt's death seemed unnecessary-and very, very sad.
He was one character who had a really good story 'arc' - and it's so noticeable when you binge it. He starts off as, well, a bit of a Pratt. But he really redeems himself, and turns into a good doctor, who cares about his job and the people around him.

So, they kill him off, just as he's about to get his dream job, and propose.

(I think the actor wanted to leave, but I hate that shows like this rarely seem to give their characters a happy ending. By the time Pratt died, the producers will have known the series was ending- so, there would have been so expectation of him 'returning' in the future)

Me too, although that’s a lie because I fast forward through it because I just can’t watch, in fact it took me about 4 goes to get through that episode because I knew it was coming and hate it so much. It was worse than Lucy dying.

I'm up to season 13, I really hate what they’ve done with the theme tune.

Oh it's awful! Because I tend to skip straight to the next episode and skip the re-cap, I had forgotten all about it at first- until one day I let it run.

I think they bring the old one back near the end of the show (it might actually be for just the final episode not sure).

My brain still automatically 'hears' the old one when the programme starts though .

I know a few posters said they struggled with season 13 but I’m quite liking it. Going to miss Kerry though, Maurice is growing on me and who is the homeless kid that looks so familiar?!

I’m on series 9….

Romano is absolutely vile.
Kerry is vile.
Even Elizabeth is being utterly vile at times.

What have they done to all the characters?

I’m genuinely considering stopping watching.

Season 13 wasn't too bad- I've just started 14, I think I struggeld a bit with the Gates character, I never really liked him much (though the actress who plays Sarah, who I didn't like at the time, I've really now grown to like this time around- she is a lot better than many of child- actors they've had on it).

Luka and Abby go through a lot. It's Goran Visnjic's last official season- and he doesn't really get a proper send off, which was always a bit odd.

Morris really grows as a character as the whole thing comes to an end, after starting as comedy relief.

I’ve taken a break and I am back to it. I’m at the end of series 12. I definitely think there is a point where it leans into soap opera territory- everyone dating everyone, less and less about the patients.

It never quite gets as bad as Grey's Anatomy (where nobody seems to be able to find a relationship outside of the hospital, or even keep track of whether they are gay or straight ;
But yes they do start to swap partners a lot- notably- Abby/Sam Luka/ Carter/ Gates .
Everone being in love with Neela .

I know re Neela, I don’t like the Ray character, he seems so cocky and immature - why would Neela be interested in him?! And I cringe every time he pouts which unfortunately is a lot 🙈😂

Not that keen on Gates either, Neela could do better than either of them!

Just watched the start of an episode in series 14, where Morris is talking about getting a fancy new car that is going to help him get a new gf (Hope has dumped him-off screen, actress left)- and I remember thinking it was going to be a sports car.

It's a Smart car. Smart cars were a new thing 20-ish years ago, but 'chick magnets' . really? (Would not be the done thing to refer to something as a 'chick magnet' now either, I suppose, but I would be expecting something other than a Smart car ).

Bloody hell, is Kem annoying or what!

Exquisitely beautiful but incredibly annoying.

I really disliked "Kem" jesus lighten up love... Carter was mad about her & apart from a few obstacles, her being with someone mainly, her being all holier than thou when she went to his hospital.. lecturing & eyes rolling as if everything is his fault & he's a big White Saviour

Their parental grief was awful, still not really sure why they didn't work out? Or did they? I know he's in the last episode when they actually show the full view of County..

Carter and Ken never seemed to quite gel for me. She didn’t seem to appreciate him, and had him dangling. She made him seem boring.

the loss of the baby was awful. But I’m not sure why they stayed together after that? It seemed to be a bit vague. It was implied that they did, even though they seemed to want to live in different countries and live different lives.

i’f have liked to see Carter properly settled. I think they could have written the Kem storyline better, maybe the baby loss bringing them closer, or splitting completely. It was just such a meh relationship.

carter seems obsessed with Kem and she can hardly tolerate him.
All the funny and interesting women he has dated before and this is where he ends up.

Im on the episode (series 10) when Kem and Carter have just come back to the USA when she’s pregnant. I can’t say I particularly like her but I appreciate she’s still a new character so maybe she’ll grow on me.

I do not like Carter with a beard! 😬
