I just googled luge and it's feet first. It's basically like lying in bed. But at speed.

I need to go downsatirs to empty the washing machine. I am not doing that backflip on to the bannister thing that guy just did.

Ice hockey...the goalie is wearing so much padding they could just lie down in front of the goal to be effective.

Right, this luge. Obviously v dramatic to watch and dangerous etc but what do they actually do to win? Sure it can't be just the person who pushes themselves off hardest?

Wouldn't they have to shift their weight about a bit?

Luge commentary :- He's comfortable where he is on the sled.

Disclaimer: I was not good at ballet and after about 5 lessons I went horse riding instead.

Well you'd be no bloody good on a luge then would you? That horse would just be a hindrance.

As I understand it, ballet teachers these days try to be non judgemental about toes.

I love watching luge.

Can't decide which looks scarier, this or the skeleton.

Me neither. When hurtling towards imminent death at high speed, is it best to see it coming, or not?

I wonder which came first, luge or skeleton? In my mind it was Luge and one night after a few too many Glühwein‘s someone dared his (cuz, let’s face it - it will have been a bloke) mate to do it head first, and lo Skeleton was born.

I do love that John Hunt referred to this as “The Sliding Centre”. Has a more pedestrian ring to it than “Icy Death Slide”, but each to their own.
