Winter Olympics : Let the Games Begin!

For anything Winter Olympic related.

I always wonder how sports like this came about.

Some things are make sense- running/skating/ skiing fast (aways from enemies /big beasties)/ skiiing down hills, cross country all that.

But whizzing down a track feet first on a little sled- under what real life crcumstances would that be necessary? How did it happen? .

Yep, booze was involved.

I’d pay to watch a herd of giant spiders chasing them down the run, bit of added jeopardy.

I wish they'd stop saying "He has a mountain to climb".

At some point somebody has obviously decided that you ordinary everyday sledging was a bit sedate. So they’ve decided to replace a snowy hill with a half tube of ice to speed things up a bit. I bet that involved booze as well.

But what would happen to them all at the bottom of the run? Swift exit by many of the spectators.

We would rather like it to be in the style of Red Bull Go Cart racing...a little dance at the top and the luge dressed up as a hot dog.

You wonder what they were on when they came up with the double luge

Watching the luge takes me right back to my childhood and watching the Olympics with my Dad.

Combine luge with curling...rocks hurtling downwards at the speed of light. I'd watch that.
But God help the sweepers.

Ooh I bet you could go really fast down there on those slidey curling shoes.

Ooh- now you could be onto something.

Although, in practice, the stones would just end up in a pile at the bottom.

Leaving the sweepers crushed .
