Winter Olympics : Let the Games Begin!

For anything Winter Olympic related.

When BBC2 cut from the curling to the skiing I flipped over to BBC Extra (on Ch 601) to keep watching the curling. Glad I did because that got exciting!

You have to be really fit to curl at that level.

I love the Winter Olympics as it's a chance to see sports you don't normally. I used to enjoy winter sports on Eurosport but know it's died, I miss it.

I'll watch anything apart from ice hockey, curling and ski jumping.

Late start so watching the women’s slopestyle on iplayer. a very nasty crash there, amazed she got up from it. Landing on hard pack from 30’ up with only one ski is not my idea of fun.

Is the men’s DH on BBC or am I going to have to shell out for Discovery or something? (Don’t even know if we can get that here).

I’m amazed some clever audio engineer hasn’t figured out a way to edit out the constant whine of damera drones.

Womens skiathlon on bbc2 now. It looks so hard, they're skiing uphill ffs. Makes my legs ache just watching them. They do have good bottoms though!

@Auril the men's downhill was on this morning. There seems to be quite a lot either live on BBC or iplayer.

They're skiing up an actual hill.

Commentators are saying how it's one of the harder endurance sports. Their arms AND legs must all be dead by now. <<finishes mug of tea and choc biscuit>>

Loads of these women will be competing in other x country events too. I’d be spending the next 2 weeks on the sofa if I ever made it round.

@Thewonderfuleveryday. That skiathlon looks so hard, the speeds uphill! I’ve cross country skied in the past and taken my skies off to walk up hills!

And Canada/USA confusion too They will be sacking Steve.

He also keeps calling them Canada…..

I'm glad someone does (and I don't know what Im talking about ) I don't understand them. So far, they really haven't been much use to anyone.
