The last thread filled up quickly! (2 weeks!) Shows Coronation Street is gaining popularity again. (It has improved quite a bit lately!)

R.I.P. Billy Mayhew.

Todd continues to be manipulated by Theo, Summer has done some stellar sobbing (that's brought me to tears!) and it seems there's no-one to help poor Todd.

Not much has been seen of The Driscolls for a while. after the tragedy around Corriedale, and Billy the vicar dying. (I'm sure they're about somewhere!)

Lisa (Swain) is being manipulated by Undead Becky now, (from prison) and she's threatening to 'take her down with her' if she doesn't have her back! Not sure Carla wants Lisa back anyway after Lisa slept with Becky!

Poor Debbie is all over the place, trying desperately to defend evil Carl who has stolen from her, cheated on Abi, and caused all kinds of destruction with a car, (twice - and both times he's got away with it!)

Shona and David's new baby is in hospital for a while after being born prematurely, and Shona's sister has appeared suddenly! I guess we'll learn more about her, and why she and Shona have not seen each other for some years.

Sorry if I've left anything out. I'm sure we'll all catch up soon.

And then I was confused she’d popped up in Corrie & wondered if Corriedale was a week long character crossover thing 😂

She escaped the back of Graham’s van and then ran through the woods - I think it’s an extra twist in the cross over, one character from each soap arriving together with a mystery storyline.

Or are you mixing her up with Victoria who killed John? She was also in the woods - Victoria is an Emmerdale character.

So she was an Emmerdale character then?!

Jodie (Shona’s sister) is a Corrie character who was in the back of an old Emmerdale character (Graham’s) van. Graham hasn’t been in Emmerdale for years (infact he is meant to be dead!). So no, she was never in Emmerdale, but the person who she was with was in Emmerdale in the past!

I didn’t know that either but then often fast forwarded Becky’s scenes so could easily have missed it! (I only watched the recent one as it was only 30mins, so haven’t been fast-forwarding any of it).

That’s exactly what I thought when they had the conversation in the prison when Lisa visited Becky. I don’t remember at any point the mortgage being paid off in the actual storyline ( and wouldn’t Carla have had to authorise it somehow due to money laundering laws given it is Carla and Lisa’s house, not Becky’s?), and where did the money come from because I’m sure she didn’t try and extort any?. . . .unless they were talking about a house Lisa and Becky may have had before she “died”. But even then there wasn’t any talk that Lisa had plenty of money to buy the house with Carla.

Fairly sure Becky was referring to the house she and Lisa lived in before she 'died', not Carla and Lisa's house. Don't think it had ever been mentioned before but the implication was that Lisa must have known Becky was a bent cop (or at least it would be easy for Becky to make it look/sound as though she knew) and so she would take Lisa down with her.

Doesn’t the mortgage usually get paid off when a spouse dies? Perhaps that’s what is meant?

I think many of us don't really understand the whole Becky/Costello/murdered woman in the coffin scenario at all. I just let it wash over me, I don't think I need to know really, it's just.......whatever.

Yes in the prison scene - which I actually watched, I often FF Becky too - Becky mentioned that the mortage (Swain and Becky's mortgage years ago) was paid off with the ill gotten gains from whatever-it-is-she-did-that-caused-her-to-pretend-to-be-dead. I think she and Costello appropriated money from a gang they had been investigating. Costello bought a swanky new house with his share, Kit looked it up online ages ago which I think is why he was first suspicious - not affordable on his salary.

And Swain asked no questions about where the money to pay off their mortgage came from. Swain never asks any questions about anything, which is why she's the world's worst detective.

Lisa even forgot she owned that house that was apparently mortgage free

When Lisa became a proper character (instead of the bit part occasional cop she was before) I had high hopes for the character, especially when they paired her up with Carla. But this Becky storyline has ruined it for me. I can’t see Lisa as anything more than insipid, codependent and an awful police officer now - but she seemed the total opposite when she came into it! If she gets back together with Carla I will be shouting at the tv!

I can guarantee she'll get back with Carla, they have put so much screentime into that relationship they won't let it go. I'd rather see Carla with Kit. Kit doesn't work with Sarah, and Carla doesn't work with Swain.

I never liked Swain, she is so expressionless, and she was responsible for Roy being in jail.

I agree, Carla and Kit would be an excellent match.

I think Carla is far too old for Kit. I don't think there is anyone suitable for him in the Street at the moment. Violet from Classic Coronation Street could have worked well.

It is strange how some Corrie stories progress very quickly, but others drag on for a long time.

There is over 15 years between Carla and Kit so can’t see it happening.

I am coming back to an old theory that Mason might still be alive and in witness protection and could possibly reappear now undead Becky is in prison.

Oh no it'll never happen with Kit and Carla, the producers are fixated on Carla and Swain. There will probably be a spring wedding.

I really hope there are not any more undead characters on the way back.

Every mortgage I’ve had has made it obligatory to have life insurance to pay off the mortgage if the other person on the mortgage dies.

Mr Harper probably has Mr Lee tied up in a cupboard somewhere.
