The last thread filled up quickly! (2 weeks!) Shows Coronation Street is gaining popularity again. (It has improved quite a bit lately!)

R.I.P. Billy Mayhew.

Todd continues to be manipulated by Theo, Summer has done some stellar sobbing (that's brought me to tears!) and it seems there's no-one to help poor Todd.

Not much has been seen of The Driscolls for a while. after the tragedy around Corriedale, and Billy the vicar dying. (I'm sure they're about somewhere!)

Lisa (Swain) is being manipulated by Undead Becky now, (from prison) and she's threatening to 'take her down with her' if she doesn't have her back! Not sure Carla wants Lisa back anyway after Lisa slept with Becky!

Poor Debbie is all over the place, trying desperately to defend evil Carl who has stolen from her, cheated on Abi, and caused all kinds of destruction with a car, (twice - and both times he's got away with it!)

Shona and David's new baby is in hospital for a while after being born prematurely, and Shona's sister has appeared suddenly! I guess we'll learn more about her, and why she and Shona have not seen each other for some years.

Sorry if I've left anything out. I'm sure we'll all catch up soon.

I’m slightly baffled by the writing for Maggie. She was pitched in the press like she was going to be a classic Corrie no-nonsense matriarch… but she’s just a bit of an old cow really, isn’t she?

They didn’t do it in this order though. Cassie didn’t appear until a few years after Evelyn arrived - the Jackie retcon was used to introduce Evelyn.

Which actually makes it weirder. There was no need for the “Jackie wasn’t his real mum” story - they could have still killed her off and introduced Evelyn as her estranged mother. I think there’s only about 10 - 15 years between Maureen Lipman and Margi Clarke, but as we’ve already noted, this isn’t an uncommon age gap for children and parents in Corrie!

I’ve said before I’m waiting for her to make an appearance another one to add to the Brady Bunch and I’m guessing Ma Driscoll loves her !

Just looked this up, Maureen is only actually 8 years older than Margi! (79 and 71.) But yeah, not a totally uncommon thing is Corrie, for their to be a teeny tiny age gap between mother and child! 😬

I thought this. As has been said, Shona has a baby at 13, and from what I can deduce she didn't seem to get much support, and now Jodie is trying to make her feel bad/guilty about 'not being there for her' when she was a kid.

Jodie is Shona's half-sister. But they both call the parents mum and dad. I can't remember them actually saying, but is Shona supposed to have a different (absent) dad, and the dad they have talked about is Shona's step dad?

The whole thing with Jodie blaming Shona is ridiculous. Shona was a kid herself, and she did try to go back and find Jodie. I think Jodie is deliberately manipulating her.

We can tell Jodie is a bit of a bad one by the way she passed off Nick’s veggie lasagna as her own, was wearing Shona’s dressing gown and she has broken David’s favorite mug. Now she is doing the woe is me act to someone who is already stressed out ..

And she got the same tattoo, which is creepy.

Not forgetting she nicked the bunny in the hospital.....

The way I heard it, they had the same father but different mothers. But it was a bit confusing, so I wouldn’t put money on it.

Even though he is in jail , could Clayton be behind a lot of this with Jodie ? ( I had to look up the past situation with Shona and co, but this Jodie may have visited him ?)

@AnnieLummox it would be unusual for the kids to stick with the dad (especially such a nightmare dad) but you might be right, I don't think it's clear is it?

@the80sweregreat It isn't clear if Jodie knows Clayton is in jail for killing Kylie. Shona mentioned him, something like "I hope I can do better with Harper than I did with Clayton" but that was all.

I liked Kylie, it's a shame they killed her off.
