The last thread filled up quickly! (2 weeks!) Shows Coronation Street is gaining popularity again. (It has improved quite a bit lately!)

R.I.P. Billy Mayhew.

Todd continues to be manipulated by Theo, Summer has done some stellar sobbing (that's brought me to tears!) and it seems there's no-one to help poor Todd.

Not much has been seen of The Driscolls for a while. after the tragedy around Corriedale, and Billy the vicar dying. (I'm sure they're about somewhere!)

Lisa (Swain) is being manipulated by Undead Becky now, (from prison) and she's threatening to 'take her down with her' if she doesn't have her back! Not sure Carla wants Lisa back anyway after Lisa slept with Becky!

Poor Debbie is all over the place, trying desperately to defend evil Carl who has stolen from her, cheated on Abi, and caused all kinds of destruction with a car, (twice - and both times he's got away with it!)

Shona and David's new baby is in hospital for a while after being born prematurely, and Shona's sister has appeared suddenly! I guess we'll learn more about her, and why she and Shona have not seen each other for some years.

Sorry if I've left anything out. I'm sure we'll all catch up soon.

@SabreIsMyFave Im not in the UK! So it took a while longer to get rid of the stigma of parents not being married.
I don't think I could cope with David and/or Nick having a fling with Jodie. If Megan had an abortion via any method would she be out and about in the evening?

Oh fair enough @eggandonion Like I said, it very likely depends on your culture, religion, country, environment, upbringing, background etc....

I really don't recall it being a scandal in 1986 for a girl/young woman of 18 to have a baby out of wedlock. (Not in the UK anyway.) But in some cultures/countries it may have been.

I mean if a girl had had a baby at 13 in 1986 that would have raised a few eyebrows. Then again I think it would do so now actually, as 13 is very young to have a baby. At any point in time! 😬

I don't know what the situation was in Germany re babies etc. I suppose different parts of Germany had different ideas.

Looks like Jodie may have a fling with Nick or David! Dont understand why she lied about making veg lasagne for David! Very small lie but probably points to her character development.

Think we just have to accept that Debbie being Carl's mum is one of those off screen plot devices Corrie scriptwriters love to use.
It was created to explain why Debbie has been protecting Carl so much more than any sibling would do.
I would have to go back and watch Corriedale to see the ' drunk driver' accident sequence. I think Billy died when the minibus caught fire due to a car going on fire and flames travelling.

Hard to think of poor Debbie going to prison soon.

I think Megan was going to an appointment to discuss having an abortion..not the actual procedure.
No doubt we will find out more next week!

I am a bit over big storylines with new characters that we don’t know or particularly like. Where are the rest of the cast, the people we’ve known or at least start the new folk off gently. We have just had undead Becky, now we have Megan Trainor who has only been in it since November and is now best friends with half the female cast, pregnant and babysitting Bertie.

It made me laugh when Daniel told Megan he doesn't just let anyone meet Bertie (or words to that effect). Has he had a girlfriend that lad hasn't met?

Carl, Debbie and Kev have the same dad - Bill, who is currently still in Classic (2007). But Carl was supposedly the son of Bill’s second wife, Elaine. Debbie and Kev were from Bill’s first wife. Bill was a cheery fun guy, liked a drink, liked shagging Audrey 😬

@HaddyAbrams yes Daniel's girlfriends are usually Bertie's new mum by date 3!😆

This has been happening for years. We had all those silly gangsters then Mick and Lou. They have even given those cuckoos in the nest a flashback episode then done the same with the boring pub family

He lays it in the thick about how brilliant they are with Prince Bertie then they are on the baby sitting rota.

I recall that Daniel was supportive of Eva after thw Chriatmas abortion reveal.

He was shoe horned into that scene, I cannot even remember why he was there but perhaps Megan Trainer will have the abortion then he will find out and show a different side.

I think I have lost the plot completely. I don't understand why the blame for the crash is on Debbie's shoulders. Surely she and Carl arrived on the scene after the initial crash?
A bit grim but wouldn't Billy have been incinerated in the crash fire and explosion? Why would Summer and Todd go to view his remains at the funeral parlour?
No lengthy police investigation for such a serious road accident. Done, dusted and let's move on to the next Corrie trauma.

It's one of those stories when the pregnant woman (Debbie) gives the baby to her parent to bring up. So Bill is actually Carl's grandad. We don't know who the dad is.

I know there would be a lengthy forensic investigation if they had to prove Debbie's guilt, but I don't know what happens if someone pleads guilty. Surely there is still a forensic examination? Debbie was picked on because the car was seen 'driving erratically' by Michael Bailey who reported it, and when tested Debbie had been drinking (so had Carl). But surely there would still be more of an investigation than "did you do it" "yes I'm guilty".

And I agree re Billy's remains. He must have already been cremated. I doubt there was anything left which resembled Billy. Poor old Billy.😢

Billy was trapped in a burning vehicle surely to God his body wouldn't be viewing.

The Police report or was it the medical report said at the time of the crash Debbie was comptosmentos (sp?) How can someone with dementia be comptosmentos.

I was confused if Meghan had the termination or if she was just asking about it. It’s usually tablets at different times I think , then rest , but I admit I don’t know ( only what I’ve seen on other soaps)

Because having Dementia doesnt mean you dont have capacity to make some decisions
Compos mentis is not really the term used, its Mental Capacity
Its decision specific so for example someone might not have capacity to deal with financial decisions but have capacity regarding their decisions about place of care etc
They felt she had capacity to make the decision to drive we know she didnt do it

I think she was torn as to whether to go ahead as she said she had PCOS which meant she might never conceive again
