The last thread filled up quickly! (2 weeks!) Shows Coronation Street is gaining popularity again. (It has improved quite a bit lately!)

R.I.P. Billy Mayhew.

Todd continues to be manipulated by Theo, Summer has done some stellar sobbing (that's brought me to tears!) and it seems there's no-one to help poor Todd.

Not much has been seen of The Driscolls for a while. after the tragedy around Corriedale, and Billy the vicar dying. (I'm sure they're about somewhere!)

Lisa (Swain) is being manipulated by Undead Becky now, (from prison) and she's threatening to 'take her down with her' if she doesn't have her back! Not sure Carla wants Lisa back anyway after Lisa slept with Becky!

Poor Debbie is all over the place, trying desperately to defend evil Carl who has stolen from her, cheated on Abi, and caused all kinds of destruction with a car, (twice - and both times he's got away with it!)

Shona and David's new baby is in hospital for a while after being born prematurely, and Shona's sister has appeared suddenly! I guess we'll learn more about her, and why she and Shona have not seen each other for some years.

Absolutely they wouldn’t have viewings if the body was in a traumatic condition.

Is Debbie not meant to remember that she wasn’t driving? She seems to actually believe it at times. And wasn’t she telling Carl off for all kinds of things prior to this (like for shagging Abi), yet suddenly he can do what he wants and she says nothing. She could at least say “I know it was you, I’m just taking the rap for you”.

I think it was (is?) an early pregnancy. If it was Will, she first slept with him 4 weeks ago. Of course it could be someonelse - whoever made that phone call to her. I don't think it's Daniel's.

I agree I don't believe Summer would hit anyone either, that was overdone.

Maybe it was a closed coffin. Although George insisted they didn't see the coffin in the van, and had to wait 'until I've got him ready'. If they are just staring at a coffin, why did that matter?

Been following this thread for a while and am old enough to remember old old Corrie! My theory with Debbie….

Debbie and Kevin’s mum died of cancer before they moved to the street. Debbie then looked after Bill and Kevin, becoming feisty Debbie. Elaine came onto the scene and Debbie liked her even though Kev didn’t and supported her and Bill to get together. Lots of tension with Kevin about Elaine and he and Bill didn’t get on. Bill and Elaine got married possibly around 1985/86 and moved somewhere like Southampton(?). Debbie moved with them and Kev stayed on the street, marrying Sally soon after. I seem to remember part of the reason Debbie went was because she wasn’t yet 18 and was a bit wild - she had a boyfriend who rode a bike (Daz or Dave?) and got her into a crash. Bill didn’t like him and was upset Debbie was seeing him/didn’t do well at school etc and think he wanted her away from Daz/Dave and his wild biker mates. I’m betting Daz/Dave is Carl’s dad and Debbie didn’t realise she was pregnant until she was in labour/hid it. Elaine possibly wanted a child (older lady, 2nd marriage) and Debbie loved her and wanted her to raise him. Debbie at the time definitely wasn’t the settling down type!

You’d think the writers would get it by now though. They cut Mick and Lou’s contract dead because of the backslash. Undead Becky was supposed to be in it until March apparently but she’s been sent to prison in 10 seconds flat.

Was he born in Germany though? Debbie is the babymomma, so he would have been born in the UK. Then taken to Germany by Bill - (Debbie and Kevin's dad) and their stepmum.

I think Debbie went with Bill and New wife to Germany. And looked like Mutter to me on the wristband!

(also does anyone think “12 rounds of toast” whenever they see Debbie??)

The Corrie Wiki page appears to be explaining how Debbie is Carl's mum, and how Bill and Elaine (Debbie and Kevin's stepmum) came to have Carl. But I do wonder if all this information was available on here before this week. 🤔

Elaine Prior was born around 1946 to Walter and Millie Prior, nee Sugden. Her mother's brother is Percy Sugden, who moved to Coronation Street in 1983.

1984-1985

Elaine came to Coronation Street to visit her uncle Percy Sugden in November 1984. She began going out with builder Bill Webster, which disappointed Percy as he hoped that she would get with businessman Mike Baldwin and not a 'mere builder.'

Elaine and Bill spent some time in London together and later decided to get married. Percy gave his blessing for the wedding after being convinced by Bill. Bill and Elaine married in January 1985, and moved to Southampton with Bill's daughter Debbie coming with them, although his son Kevin decided to remain behind in Weatherfield.

After 1985

By May 1986, Debbie was pregnant after a dalliance with an unknown man, but to cover up an illegitimate teenage pregnancy, when they kept in touch with Kevin back in Weatherfield, they let him think it was Elaine who was pregnant.

Debbie gave birth to her son Carl. Carl's grandad Bill and step gran Elaine bought him up as their son. Carl and Kevin were unaware of Carl's true parentage. The family later settled in Germany. Debbie left the household and began making a good living for herself.

In 1994, Elaine had an affair behind Bill's back - with Bill's boss. Bill thumped his boss and got the sack. They separated and he returned to the United Kingdom and to his family on Coronation Street. Their son Carl continued to live with her. The pair divorced.

In December 1996, Elaine and Carl were visiting Bristol and Bill went to visit them in order to see Carl again. Elaine and Carl didn't have a good relationship and she viewed him as a waste of space growing up. It is suspected she only kept him around to punish Bill.

By 2016, Elaine was back living in the United Kingdom and once again living in Southampton. Carl continued to live in Germany.

Elaine Webster is seen in a photo Debbie Webster has in 2025 from 41 years earlier in 1984.

In 2025, Elaine's son Carl visited Weatherfield and moved there, and soon started getting into an affair with his sister in law Abi Webster.

In September 2025, Debbie looked at a photo of Elaine on her wedding day to Bill in January 1985.

On 10th December 2025, Elaine left a voice message for Debbie asking her to
phone her back.

Later in December 2025, Carl said Elaine has died of cancer.

I don’t think it was Sabre - I looked it up recently as I’m back watching Corrie after a break and didn’t know who Carl was or where he came from and defo wasn’t that information there. I think whoever edited that filled in a few blanks out of their own imagination also!

Forgot to say in that post ^ that I was wondering if the inormation had only just been put on Wiki's Corrie page - as for the life of me, I cannot remember any of this happening 40 years ago/in the mid 1980s. And I have watched Corrie since the mid 1970s. I wonder if it was a background story, that wasn't shown or spoken about when it happened IYSWIM.

Cross post. Ah ha, thank you. I wondered if I was going crazy LOL, as I cannot recall ANY of what is on the Wiki page about Debbie, Elaine, Bill, Carl etc (and Debbie being pregnant at 18.) I don't remember any of it happening. It's like they just added it in this week! (Like rewrote history!)

Yes, I’m also confused why the blame is being put solely on Debbie’s shoulders. I think I need to watch Corriedale again but wasn’t the start of the pile up caused by the John Sugden/Aaron vehicle crashing into Undead Becky’s car? Or was that an entirely separate crash to the Carl and Debbie/Minibus crash?

Made me laugh how people are saying shotgun weddings and teenage mums weren't a big deal in their world and didn't happen. As if they knew everyone. Could be someone three streets down, no one can possibly know.
