The last thread filled up quickly! (2 weeks!) Shows Coronation Street is gaining popularity again. (It has improved quite a bit lately!)

R.I.P. Billy Mayhew.

Todd continues to be manipulated by Theo, Summer has done some stellar sobbing (that's brought me to tears!) and it seems there's no-one to help poor Todd.

Not much has been seen of The Driscolls for a while. after the tragedy around Corriedale, and Billy the vicar dying. (I'm sure they're about somewhere!)

Lisa (Swain) is being manipulated by Undead Becky now, (from prison) and she's threatening to 'take her down with her' if she doesn't have her back! Not sure Carla wants Lisa back anyway after Lisa slept with Becky!

Poor Debbie is all over the place, trying desperately to defend evil Carl who has stolen from her, cheated on Abi, and caused all kinds of destruction with a car, (twice - and both times he's got away with it!)

Shona and David's new baby is in hospital for a while after being born prematurely, and Shona's sister has appeared suddenly! I guess we'll learn more about her, and why she and Shona have not seen each other for some years.

Sorry if I've left anything out. I'm sure we'll all catch up soon.

I don’t understand all this with Debbie (as well as the Lisa stuff). Wasnt the car driving from emmerdale that crashed into them? Why is it just Debbie being prosecuted? Or on the emmerdale soap is someone being prosecuted there?

My Eldest was born in the 80s 9 months after our wedding, a honeymoon baby. You wouldn't believe the amount of people who go out their diaries to work out if we were married before he was conceived!

I’m not interested in Megan and her termination (or not). It seems she went through with it, but did she. She won’t be able to pass it off as Daniel’s if she didn’t.

I don’t know why I get so upset when I see the scenes about Billy, probably because Todd and Summer look so genuinely distraught. I am not usually bothered when soap characters die!

So Jodie’s secret is ‘adorable twins’. And she tells annoying lies about lasagne.

Yes I have to say I don't recall a 17-18 year old girl being pregnant in the mid 1980s being a shock, or an 'issue.

I knew quite a few who got pregnant at 17, 18, 19, and 20, and they stayed as single mums, (and moved into a house or flat) or stayed with the baby's dad, and moved into their own rented council house. It wasn't taboo or unusual. By 1989/1990, I worked in housing, and many middle aged women came in with their 16-20 y.o. daughter who had a baby, asking for housing for them. It wasn't a massive issue or a taboo, not in the mid to late 1980s. And certainly not when the 'girl' was 18. Not sure why a couple of posters are saying it was a scandal then. Maybe it was in their culture or religion or where they lived, but not in my world.

I don't think anyone had shotgun weddings after the 1960s in my world! 😬

I’m confused (doesn’t take much lol) so Carl’s mum who died was that Elaine?? So why wasn’t Kevin upset when Carl’s mum died if him Carl and Deb were siblings with same mum? Or was Kev and Deb’s mum someone different? Please make it make sense!

Mind you, I have to say, I went to a wedding of a young couple in July 2017, (22nd I think,) and their first baby was born April the 21st, 2018. I remember thinking.., ' hmmm first married night baby? Or was she pregnant before they got married?

Is it not just Carl who has Elaine as his mum though? Someone called Alison is Kevin and Debbie's mum. According to an article I found on google, Alison died when Kevin and Debbie were 14 and 11 or so. I guess Debbie had Carl some 7 years later, but who was the father, and why did their stepmum Elaine and Bill Webster adopt Carl?

Did she have the abortion though? Coz she only had water at the pub! 👀
