OP posts:
thewiltedrose · 11/06/2008 21:05

Ill proberly get flamed for this but i think if your that overweight to the point of over 20 stone then you should even think of having children until your healthier size.

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 21:06

Big mummy = big baby - is that what they are trying to say?

OP posts:
pedilia · 11/06/2008 21:06

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 21:06

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 21:09

shinyshoes · 11/06/2008 21:09

yes DirtySexyMummy, to be honest I was waiting for some rubbish like that.

I was a size 10 when I had my first 8lb 6.5 oz

size 12 when I had my second 10lbs 1oz

size 16 with my last 9lb 5oz.

ok I was bigger with my 3rd, but I was hardly obese, and I certainly wasnt with my 2nd, the biggest child, unless a size 12 is obese

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 21:10

I'm not sure if they are trying to make a link, I presume they are.

However, these women are pretty large.

I would be ashamed if my toddler weighed 4 stone with no medical reasons id be ashamed of myself.

goingslowlymad · 11/06/2008 21:12

I was hugely obese with one of mine (over 20 stone) and he weighed less than 6lbs.

I don't think my weight has had any influence over teh weight of my baies. My largest was 8.5lbs and I was 12 stone, and my smallest was 2.11lbs and I weighed 13 stone at the time of birth (twins though).

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 21:13

Maybe it is not the weight of the mother, but what they are eating? If they are eating mainly junk food, then the baby will be getting crap nutrients from the mother, and this could lead to the unborn child actually having 'fat'?

DISCLAIMERThis is a completely non-medical theory

DS was 10lb 9oz and I was amused/proud pedilia

thewiltedrose · 11/06/2008 21:15

ds1 was 5lb 4
ds2 was 8lb 1
I weighed about 13/14 stone with both.
Always ate junk food really so i suppose it doesnt work for everyone.

AdamAnt · 11/06/2008 21:16

I'm 9 stone (size 10-12) btw. I did drink a LOT of milk though.

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 21:16

Her not being able to pick up her 2yo might have more to do with her size than his though.

I can lift children who weigh more than him.

I think if you have gestational diabetes, it can lead to a large for dates baby. But some of it's genetics - I had a BMI of 24 when I got pregnant with dd, am a size 12-14, and she was 10lb 11oz. But tall, too, like DH, and getting a lot skinnier now she's always running round.

misdee · 11/06/2008 21:17

joes mum is making me cry as thats exactly what we fac ed wityh dd2 with people assuming she was 5 when she was 2.

shinyshoes · 11/06/2008 21:17

DirtySexyMummy · 11/06/2008 21:18

Lollypopzmummy · 11/06/2008 21:18

thewiltedrose · 11/06/2008 21:19
