Who is watching this?

OP posts:

I didn't mena that just because you are poor, I meant that if you live in a poorer area you have less of a chance of being well informed, you usually have to actively seek the information and a lot of people are either too lazy (as the chip woman seemed to be) or you are just unaware of the choices available.
Trust me, I'm the poorest person I know but have actively sought information on healthy eating etc since I was in school. . . as my own mum was too lazy to do so and fed us on takeaways. . . so, simply speaking from expierience, I do understand that it's not the case for everyone but it is the majority, IYSWIM?

i have avoided this prog for precisely the reason that people with genuinely big children will be looked at as though they don't look after their kids. My dd is 22 months old and 29lbs, 83 cm- exactly on the 75th centile she was born on. Not amazing , til i tell you i am only 4ft 8, and was 8and a half stone at 9 months pregnant. She looks far too big to be mine, but she is by no means unhealthy!

(dh and i blame radiation/surgery for a broken wrist at 20 weeks)

ProfYaffle · 11/06/2008 21:48

There was a lady earlier on with a 16yr old who was a big baby (can't remember the weight) she said she bf him and by the time he was 18 months/2yrs he was quite skinny.

misdee · 11/06/2008 21:48

i was told to put dd2 on a diet at a year old.

i refused.

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 21:49

I keep missing things

ProfYaffle · 11/06/2008 21:50

bethoo · 11/06/2008 21:50

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 21:51

bethoo so was I but unfortunately with dd2 wasn't true

GreenMonkies · 11/06/2008 21:51

(my friend gave birth to a 12lb 2oz baby, at home, with gas and air. No stitches. It was her fourth and she is tall but even so!!)

Why can't they test blood sugar in the delivery theatre, mum could hold him whilst the heel-prick him, why do they seperate mums and babies so much in hospitals??

Lollypopzmummy · 11/06/2008 21:51

Ah Bethoo, that was probably the case pre- Maccy D's

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 21:51

dizzydixies · 11/06/2008 21:52

lolly I can assure you not all of us are in McDonalds for breakfast/lunch and dinner

pollykettlechips · 11/06/2008 21:52

HOw do people afford to eat as much rubbish that they get this big? Can barely afford a takeaway once a week and even then it's shared with DS. (ONe chinese dish rice and chips). Just not got the money to eat this type of food, more like jacket potatos and tuna and salad.

poor poor fat joe

ronshar · 11/06/2008 21:53

Bethoo hello. I know really but you watch programmes like this one and the next 15 weeks become slightly more of a worry.

So far I have had 6 13lb, 7 8lb. This one is bound to be bigger. More room to grow in this time.

How much blood??

Lollypopzmummy · 11/06/2008 21:53

I know, I know, it was a joke. . . I'm like that sometimes, you should hear me go on about my junky sodomising little bro

GreenMonkies · 11/06/2008 21:53

ProfYaff, thanks, thats interesting.

And I'm sorry, but Joe is not just a "big boy" he's fat, like his mum. (not PC but true)

misdee · 11/06/2008 21:54

they forgot to check dd3 blood sugars. she ended up in scbu 24hours later for 24hours.

will make sure they heel prick this little one after birth.

thewiltedrose · 11/06/2008 21:54

BlueDragonfly · 11/06/2008 21:55

bethoo · 11/06/2008 21:55
