Some babies are just born big though. My SIL is a tall, big-boned woman who is a bit overweight but not obese. My first nephew was 10lb 6oz and my second nephew was 12lb 4oz, the biggest baby delivered vaginally in a pretty big birthing hospital in the US. They have continued to be big boys, always the tallest in their classes.

I used to work with a guy whose sister was/is massively obese. She gave birth one day, never knew she was pregnant.
