I love this series, one of my all time favourites and a new series starts on Thursday. Lovely feel good tv, and a real sign of Autumn when a new one lands.

Anyone else?

Siegfried's 2nd wife was called Audrey but she was also from money.

I think of Siegfried as quite a snob & that marrying his house keeper would be "beneath him".

If they marry-then what?

She's still the housekeeper?

But for free 🙄

The income from the business would be hers as well if they were to get married though - she would be responsible for managing the household as many women were back then.

What an emotional end to the last episode of this series.
One thing that I did spot as an eagle eyed farmer - two different cows were used in the “looking for the newborn calf” section. The first cow had a heavily pregnant stomach and no milk in her udder. When the calf was found, that cow was considerably slimmer with an udder full of milk!
It certainly didn’t however distract from an amazing program.

As cattle farmers DH and I burst out laughing at the cow swap when her udder suddenly went from empty to swollen full in a split second. Its understandable that they wouldn't use a newly calved cow for most of the filming only for the bit with the calf but it was funny.

The rest of us just do not pay enough attention to udders.

This explains the state of the nation.

To a cattle farmer it was the equivalent of swapping Mrs Hall with Dolly Parton mid scene.

I’m a full on Urbanite and noticed the udder switch, but I tend to notice things normies don’t see.

As well as the Christmas episode there's a behind the scenes show on as well. I think it's presented by Graham the dog training chap.

He had a cameo role in the dog racing episode. Looked just the part.

I didn't notice that!

I enjoyed the last episode but didn't realise it was the last one. Bring on the Xmas special!

Crummles1 · 25/12/2025 16:23

I forgot the Christmas special was on last night! Was it any good?

JewelleryCat · 25/12/2025 17:01

It was good but there is a bit that you might want your hanky for

Yes, the goat. That was seriusly moving.

Clawdy · 28/12/2025 08:22

Enjoyed it, great Christmas viewing. And Siegfried actually happy for once! Hope it lasts!

I've only just begun watching this and have binged it over the holidays and this week. The horse being named Joan! That made me smile as I have a Joan myself, she is going to be 3 in March!
