I love this series, one of my all time favourites and a new series starts on Thursday. Lovely feel good tv, and a real sign of Autumn when a new one lands.

Anyone else?

Excellent episode.

Only a VJ call with Helen on the newly re-connected phone was missing! Surely James would have wanted to talk with her?

SeaAndStars · 31/10/2025 09:48

As well as the Christmas episode there's a behind the scenes show on as well. I think it's presented by Graham the dog training chap.

Yes, I'm looking forward to that.

JewelleryCat · 31/10/2025 10:01

There is? Oh I do like Graham Hall. Is that around Christmas as well, the behind the scenes?

What an emotional end to the last episode of this series.
One thing that I did spot as an eagle eyed farmer - two different cows were used in the “looking for the newborn calf” section. The first cow had a heavily pregnant stomach and no milk in her udder. When the calf was found, that cow was considerably slimmer with an udder full of milk!
It certainly didn’t however distract from an amazing program.

FleurDeFleur · 31/10/2025 10:42

The scene with the calf! 😍

olderandnonthewiser · 31/10/2025 10:56

@user1469207397 Surely the lost calf would have been more excited to see its mother, never mind hungry!
But we’re nickpicking.. it was a lovely episode 😊

I know. It was the first time I properly smiled yesterday.

Little Jimmy is a gorgeous boy too :)

Had not realised it was the last episode of the series :(

I thought the same, but never mind! I think it was the right mix of storylines. I loved the taciturn farmer, who then made a speech!

Oh no, really? You'd have thought they'd have got someone better than that to do the show - his training methods are questionnable to say the least. Might give that a swerve and go straight to the special.

My OH said exactly the same!

Loved this last episode.

It was probably a real brass band as well. I think Yorkshire has quite a few around in the villages. Not as many as there used to be

Brass bands make me very nostalgic for my childhood in Yorkshire. Where we live now there’s one event a year that usually has marching bands and I adore hearing them.

Just watched the last episode tonight and agree that it was just missing a call from Helen, and there was one moment that Siegfried could have discreetly taken Mrs Hall’s hand, if not that he was holding his hat. I believe they’re leading to them finally getting together and I’m here for it.

purpleme12 · 31/10/2025 23:30

I really laughed at this one with the farmer hardly saying anything 😆

Crummles1 · 01/11/2025 21:41

I thought it was rather disappointing tbh

No Helen, no Jenny, no Mrs Pumphrey, no Tricky Woo

LIZS · 01/11/2025 22:08

Thought we might get an update on stud Tricki! Hopefully at Christmas. Not much light relief in that episode.

purpleme12 · 01/11/2025 22:22

Ah I thought there was a good amount of light relief!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 01/11/2025 22:40

I loved it, I was expecting a phone call with Helen though , they could have filmed that before her mat leave surely?!

The farmer of few words cracked me up and Tristan 😢 😢😢 will he marry Charlotte?

olderandnonthewiser · 02/11/2025 08:47

Unless they filmed the Christmas special at a different time I doubt Helen will be in it.. which will make an interesting storyline.

JewelleryCat · 02/11/2025 10:28

Google tells me the filming for the Christmas special is in June so hopefully Helen will make an appearance

PastaAllaNorma · 02/11/2025 10:36

"The answer is always you"

That's damned close to a declaration from our Siegfried to lovely Audrey. I'll be delighted when they finally marry.

I have a feeling they won't. I'm not sure how it would work when he has such a boss attitude!

diddl · 02/11/2025 11:28

If they marry-then what?

She's still the housekeeper?

His second wife's name was Audrey, I think it's on the cards eventually.

MyOtherProfile · 02/11/2025 11:37

I love that, @PastaAllaNorma maybe it will happen then. But as @diddl said she will still probably be the housekeeper!
