Both their families seem so lovely Jane. There was a moment when the cameras panned to Carlos’ parents and even though he was on the brink of losing the match they were smiling and proud. And Jannik’s mum looked calm and happy, I was worried she’d never recover from the experience of that last final at RG. It’s not a coincidence that they’ve raised two such outstanding young men.

His mother can relax now she wasn’t sitting in the box; it must have been too overwhelming.

Just seen that , in the Race to Turin, , Carlos has already qualified (over a 1000 point already over the cu off) and Jannik is only 500 points short. Which shows how dominant they have been so far this year. It's not unusual to qualify this early- Rafa did it a few times, due to the bulk of his wins always being in the clay season.

I see Tara Moore has been banned for 4 years for doping, after being cleared 18m ago.

I don’t know the full details so can’t say whether the punishment is justified, but the way it’s been dealt with has been very chaotic and drawn out. I imagine that’s her career over now - which may be fair if she is definitely guilty but is very harsh if she’s innocent (and the fact that she was cleared once suggests there is some doubt about what happened).

A prime example of how players are treated differently.

I was thinking that this morning.

She was one of the people who spoke out about the length of time her origignal case took compared to Jannik/Iga.

I won’t pretend to understand the ins and outs of the doping rules, but I think it’s really weird to have someone cleared of any wrongdoing and then for that to be overturned subsequently. I can understand it going the opposite way - found guilty and then cleared on appeal - but surely the process needs to be changed to avoid what feels like a double jeopardy situation. It’s such a bad look for the sport.
