I like thinking of Taylor Swift's 'Smallest Man Who Ever Lived' when watching Matty Healy. Puts his self-aggrandising ego right into perspective.

So true!

Someone call his mother, the twat needs sorting out in that case @Romeiswheretheheartis !!

Why does it all sound the same 🙄 and what's with the lyrics on the big screens. It's like watching a karaoke band.

Biffy were brilliant and Supergrass. First time hearint Self Esteem, loved it.
This is just sh*te I'm off to bed

SomethingFun · 27/06/2025 23:06

It’s not a vintage Glastontelly sadly. Biffy Clyro are the best I’ve seen so far. I saw a bit of CMAT and I’d like to watch her again on catch up. The 1975 are just so dull! The rest of the band could be on the tills at Sainsbury’s for all the stage presence they have and the singer is a bit stage school and I can’t take him seriously.

Plasticwaste · 27/06/2025 23:06

He seems to be curating an image of himself as a rockstar, or how he thinks one should act. He is a Pinterest moodboard of a rockstar. His car reg is ME ME ME 😂

Its uncomfortable to watch him shaking, talking shit and trying to smoke..

He actually seems really nervous tonight. I have seen a lot of their concert stuff and he is usually much more confident.

HumbleWarrior · 27/06/2025 23:07

This one's a belter tbf...

JuneBringsTulipsLiliesRoses · 27/06/2025 23:07

I liked Lewis Capaldi - the online planner on my TV said it was him, (perhaps only after his set had started) so it wasn’t a surprise.

Apart from him, my favourite bit was Letters Live: interesting letters with famous and skilled people reading them. I’m not sure if there will be more of that over the weekend.

Pancakeflipper · 27/06/2025 23:08

Can't help thinking " I wish they'd booked Pulp".

Bedtime now for me. Boredy Bored Bored.

This is why Nile Rodgers will be so worth watching on Sunday….he might be old but has talent and class, every generation since the 80s have been entertained by him .

HumbleWarrior · 27/06/2025 23:09

Yeah, they're really not on form. Slow and lacklustre. Awkward.

English Teacher, Wet Leg and Self Esteem have been my highlights so far. Heartening to see such girl power, just what’s needed right now. Fallow season for Glasto next year but really want to take my kids the year after.

Just switched over from 1975 and now indulging in some fabulous English Teacher. Watched a bit of Wet Leg earlier - brilliant!

WoolwichWitch · 27/06/2025 23:12

What’s happening? Why is he having a fag in his car, young Matty?

poppym12 · 27/06/2025 23:13

I've only watched Alanis so far and a bit if Lewis Capaldi. I'm annoyed that none of the acoustic stage is being tevevised; one of my favourite bands is on tomorrow.

I so agree with you. I saw him as the subject of one of those BBC4 ‘analyse music/ musicians’ programmes, where they discuss the person’s background, musical history and so on. He’s so technically skilled, and good at explaining it all.

Jellykat · 27/06/2025 23:15

Anohni seems a little more confident in herself, which is heartening to see

Now, after the song, he’s said he didn’t mean it, although he’d said at the start of that wordy bit that he was going to be sincere in that section.

Perhaps someone has had a quiet word in his earpiece.

Edited

Not his biggest fan but I (think) it was just a poorly delivered joke. He said he was a poet and the best song writer of this century and that's why he's chosen this song next. Then he sang 'chocolate' where the lyrics are absolute rubbish. They scrambled all the words to the song in huge text on the screens to make it look like gobbledegook. I think it was a joke at their own expense at how bad their earlier songs were (although thats actually my favourite of their songs!).

Ladyymuck · 27/06/2025 23:18

It’s just so cringe Matty H walking around with a fag and a pint and acting drunk. None of that from Lewis Capaldi whose set was emotional and amazing and a lot of that is down to him being very personable.

Seen him a few times; Chic are fabulous!

HumbleWarrior · 27/06/2025 23:18

Yes, I think it was meant to be self-deprecating but he's too nervous/pissed/stoned to have said it very convincingly and it fell flat

WoolwichWitch · 27/06/2025 23:21

Well I know I is old, but I shan’t be adding the 1975 to my Spotify any time soon. Snoozefest.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 27/06/2025 23:22

I've seen The 1975 live at a concert and they were so much better. This is not a Glastonbury headline performance!

Romeiswheretheheartis · 27/06/2025 23:22

The problem is he always comes across as very arrogant, so any attempt at self deprecation is never going to be convincing.

Jzp · 27/06/2025 23:23

Loving The 1975. This years lineup hasn’t overwhelmed me. Really hoping the BBC will film Jungle’s set on tonight (1130pm West Holt stage). I watch every year from the comfort of our lounge. At 68 years old camping isn’t for me even if I’m an old hippy.

MadKittenWoman · 27/06/2025 23:23

God, the 1975 are interminable. Going to listen to Stephen Nolan.
