How can he be so funny yet be so incompetent?

Anyone watching?

Yes, I’m on episode 2 and loving it!

Those clips of Caleb’s live show look so cringe. I like him, but can’t comprehend all those people sitting in a packed theatre paying to sing ‘I’ve got a brand new combine harvester’ with him 😁

DinoLil · 23/05/2025 22:56

Is S4 out??!!! Waaaaaaaaaah, that's my weekend sorted!

DawnBreaks · 23/05/2025 23:00

I'm quite liking Harriet! She seems very capable!
Agree with the Caleb show being a bit cringe.

Only 4 episodes so far, they’re releasing them
in instalments.

Loved Harriet. She was amazing. Loved that she had a Dyson blow dry and her eyelashes done while shovelling shit and managing a huge tractor. Kaleb had the right hump when he returned. Agree his tour was cringe but I guess he had to take the money.

Young farmers are so impressive. Amazing skillset. You can tell they are time poor as their awareness of news and general knowledge is terrible.

nahthatsnotforme · 24/05/2025 11:22

I love this series. I’m another who couldn’t bear JC in anything, but think he’s amazing in this. He talks so much common sense, and I really admire his drive at 63..
Harriet was indeed amazing and well done Jeremy for giving another young farmer a bit of a leg up.. I’m sure he had the pick of helpers.

The incompetence is a mixture of going into things head first without necessarily thinking them through and put on for comic effect.

I do think he comes across well in Clarksons Farm.

Icebreakhell · 24/05/2025 12:55

His energy is amazing for a man who looks as though he enjoys his grub and beer. He could have disappeared for a retirement of luxury and instead bought a farm. I love his adventure and down to earth nature. Lisa is a very good sport and match for him.

To be fair he bought a farm way before he retired in order to take advantage of a tax loophole and also so he could shoot on his private land. When the guy who was farming it retired he decided to take over.

He is a very shrewd business man but I do still like him I think he is very genuine in his concern for British farmers and young farmers

CoffeeandWalnuts · 26/05/2025 19:46

They all make me feel very lazy and incompetent, while I'm sat watching from my sofa.

Loved Harriet and her no nonsense approach and knowledge. And I did wonder where Jeremy gets his motivation from.

TianasBayou · 26/05/2025 19:58

Harriet is also an NHS nurse. A very impressive woman.

It's interesting to think he could end up remembered more for for this than all that tomfoolery in cars.

Wherewillitend25 · 26/05/2025 20:49

Love it. Loved Harriet with her hair and her eyelashes and her RR whilst also shovelling an awful lot of shit and single handedly building pig pen fences. A one woman destroyer of stereotypes!! Brilliant woman in a hilarious series.
Hoping “Richard Hammond” is brought in to live in the house in the next few episodes…

AliasGraced · 26/05/2025 20:51

I thought Jeremy looked really gutted when she left. She was superwoman!

UseNailOil · 26/05/2025 20:56

Agree with everything that’s been said.
Caleb’s show looked dreadful
Harriet is extraordinary! What a super-star!
West Oxfordshire council must just loathe him - they get such bad press!

derxa · 27/05/2025 04:23

Jeremy is doing good work highlighting the plight of pubs. He could have just sat on his arse and done nothing.

Netaporter · 27/05/2025 04:36

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all 4 eps this weekend. JC has an innate talent in making enjoyable telly programmes and his ability to highlight some of the issues in the farming community because he has the financial wherewithal to do so is admirable.

Billybagpuss · 27/05/2025 04:57

You can watch Caleb’s show on Amazon, yes the clips were cringe but it was an enjoyable watch.

Yes he knows what makes good television. I can’t understand why the council was so unhelpful to him when he was looking to buy the first pub. Why would you want a building to sit empty and look like an eyesore?
I loved the chat with Kaleb about ‘cunt flu’. To be fair to Kaleb, he can dish it out but he can take it as well.

Saucery · 27/05/2025 17:29

Why would you want a building to sit empty and look like an eyesore?

Purely hypothetically, a building like that, falling down and one exposed wire away from burning down, could possibly be blocking all that lovely land behind it that could have….oooh, let’s say….quite a few new build executive rabbit hutches thrown up on it. Not that I’m suggesting for one minute that that’s the case here.
He’d have been foolish to chuck half a million at that building, shame though it is.

I never had much time for JC before Diddly Squat. I think he’s even surprised himself at how much he gives a shit about not just his own farm, but farming in general.

SkiTurtle · 28/05/2025 16:43

I love this series and the way he highlights the struggles that farmers encounter.

Has he had a restaurant in a previous series? Not the one that's in the middle of a field but a real building. I'm having deja vu but can't think why. I seem to remember big queues, the selling of his beer and local produce. A tractor hanging from the ceiling as decoration? It's niggling me.

OrlandointheWilderness · 28/05/2025 16:47

Absolutely love it. I think it’s done so much to connect people to farming and some of the struggles. Harriet was fab - not everyone who works in agriculture looks like a scarecrow, I certainly try to make myself look presentable!! 😂

SerendipityJane · 28/05/2025 16:48

I never had much time for JC before Diddly Squat. I think he’s even surprised himself at how much he gives a shit about not just his own farm, but farming in general.

It could well be his crowning legacy. Vaguely ironic as the world of testosterone fuelled car japes, and farming with it's environmental dimension are not only dissimilar, but also diametrically opposed.

That said, the Tractor Top Gear was amusing.

Saucery · 28/05/2025 18:31

There’s no way all those tractor dealers would have put up with all their transporters being crammed into a yard for anyone that wasn’t Clarkson Grin

the80sweregreat · 29/05/2025 12:34

I think that in a previous season ( can’t remember which one ) Jeremy Clarkson set up a ‘ pop up ‘ restaurant type thing as I recall the camera men and women and production people sitting outside and they couldn’t get their cars outside this place so had to walk to it. Not sure why it had to close down , but it hasn’t been mentioned since?
I love how they just casually mention a million here or 400,00 there , it’s another world and Lisa seems to be on board with all of it too. It must be lovely to be that wealthy. The pub he had bought is nice, apparently, but such hard work even if he manages to hive off a lot of it to other people.
looking forwards to the last episode on Saturday and I did like Hariott a lot. Such a hard worker and very pleasant. I know a lot of it is scripted, but it’s my favorite series ever and I know diddley squat about farming ( but I feel I know a lot more now. )
