I got tickets and..... meet and great 🎊🥳🎊🥳🎊🥳

spiderlight · 28/02/2025 16:57

Oooh, nice! I wish I could but I have dreadful social anxiety, so I'd basically be paying extra to stand in a queue feeling faint, go bright red, blurt out something stupid and then relive it at 2am every night for the rest of my life 😆

MidnightBloom · 28/02/2025 17:22

Spider you can bet your bottom dollar I will go bright red and say something stupid. Then do a ABU get get flamed and wake up in a panic attack every night for the rest of my life 🤣

I love Uncanny - I've listened to the podcast for ages - but I think it works better as a podcast than a TV programme. I agree that an hour is too long and it would've been better to have the story as one half and the chat as another. Having said that, I do like Ciaran and Evelyn and think they add something important to the show.

I haven't seen the last one yet, but I liked the Charity Shop Ghost and thought Julian's experiences with The Shadow Man sounded terrifying. I actually had a nightmare after that one! I find with a lot of the stories, there is a troubled young person at the centre. I really felt for Julian, who was clearly a really traumatised young man. I also wondered why he didn't move, but I suppose the shadow man followed him around so maybe he thought there wasn't any point and wherever he went it would go too? I do get a bit frustrated though when they gloss over quite important things and don't question enough, like with the priest. WTH was all that about? And how did his Dad die? They just said 'quite suddenly' I think, but in an accident? From a heart attack? Scared to death from messing about with Ouija boards? What?

The Shadow Man following Julian around is, surely, a clear sign it's Julian seeing something rather than an actual Shadow Man.

And yes, the women who said she saw it on the same road - it needs more probing. But then they wouldn't get enough people ringing in and messai. You're not going to if you have to endure a Stasi like interrogation on tv 😄

I'd be tempted to go and see the live act to hope there are challenging questions from sceptics in the audience. I don't believe Danny believes a word of it.

I thought he fell off something like a ladder, but haven't rewatched to check.

I'm also going to the Uncanny Tour! On my birthday, no less! Can't wait.

Most Haunted was brilliantly bonkers and I loved it. Derek Ankorah was incredibly skilled at hamming it up, as indeed was his spirit guide Sam! They all used to go nuts over "orbs" which they all (except Kieran) hoped were ghosts wafting around in the dark but were most likely dust particles or moths wafting around in the dark.

I just watched episode 3 of Uncanny, and thought it was probably up there among the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen.

Listened to the ‘post-mortem’ podcast that goes with the TV programme, and one of various details to emerge was that the man’s father regularly dabbled with ouija boards.

spiderlight · 08/06/2025 12:57

The first of the summer special podcasts is out - very creepy!

@BinaryDot I couldn’t agree more with your post!

I love Uncanny and the Lulibet episode still gives me the shivers! But I agree that poor old Kieran is having to come out with more and more far fetched “rational” explanations because he doesn’t want to have to say “people imagine things” or “people can be very suggestible” or even more sadly, people are responding to trauma.

I felt this very keenly while listening to The Witch Farm - the husband was an alcoholic with severe depression and no wonder his wife who was stuck in that isolated house with two small children and no money was also hearing/seeing things!

If you’ve ever seen that Deren Brown episode where he sends a load of students into a abandoned hospital and primes them with tales of seances - then you know what suggestion and hysteria can do!!

Is the Witch Farm part of the Uncanny series, or something else?

LyndaSnellsSniff · 09/06/2025 20:04

@iseethembloom

It's something else. Semi-dramatised story over several episodes. Just like The Battersea Poltergeist.

But both presented and written by Danny Robins.

Great. Is it a podcast or tv programme on iPlayer?

I think there's going to be more episodes on it- I’m guessing the building does still exist, story seemed quite recent?

Agree was v spooky!

It’s brilliant - found them not long ago and I am working my way through them from the beginning. Had to stop for a couple of weeks before I went to stay in an old hotel so I didn’t scare myself 🤣
