A TV version of the Danny Robins podcast.
Is anyone watching?

Three hamsters 🐹 🐹 🐹 😢

I thought tonight's episode was really weak. At the end of the day when you cut the wheat from the chaff, all we have is the mums words that this actually happened. Emily was only between four and seven years old at the time and there is no other witnesses to any events happening in that house.

Still love uncanny though and hopefully more episodes will get commissioned in the future.

There was the friend who came to stay, but yes she wasn't on camera

The other daughter didn't seem affected

suburburban · 22/02/2025 07:09

Wouldn't the cat have toppled the cage or made a mess

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2025 07:13

Danny said the couple had split up.
They had builders in before moving into the house , so maybe it had been flats prior to the renovations. They mentioned flats.

witchycat2 · 22/02/2025 07:47

I'm sure Ciaran sometimes just wants to say 'I think they're making it all up', but has to come up with scientific explanations.

Definitely

LyndaSnellsSniff · 22/02/2025 08:25

This episode was the most easily explained of all of the stories this series. But, strangely, I felt the "witnesses" were the most believable! They didn't have that "voice supplied by an actor" hamminess about them.

No interviews with the other sister, the estranged husband or the babysitter adds to the unlikeliness of the story. But I haven't watched Post Mortem yet so these omissions may be explained.

Still love Danny!

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2025 08:40

I also believed them too.
Maybe the builders messed up the electrics or the wiring before they moved into it then caused that EMF thing they mentioned?

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 22/02/2025 00:35

Absolutely. The obvious explanation. Cats aren’t daft, they’d work out how to get at this lovely new toy/prey. We have cats and we have also on three occasions since moving into this house had a mouse (idiots) come into the house. Each time it’s always been left neatly splayed out in the hallway in front of the front door.

And the cat clipped up the cage after getting hold of the hamster?

witchycat2 · 22/02/2025 09:01

Maybe the hamster got out by itself - I had many hamsters who could work out how to escape. Or they had the wrong cage for a hamster (and had one designed for a bigger rodent) and the bars were too wide, making it easy to escape.

Or perhaps the cage was pushed in the floor and they're conveniently not mentioning that. Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story....

Yes I think an unsuitable cage is most likely. It’s surprising how easy it is for a hamster to squeeze through wrong sized bars - you could pop a hamster in a rat cage thinking it’s got lots of lovely space, but if the bars aren’t the narrow ones you could end up with escapees. I’ve had hamsters get out of cages and been baffled how - they can be real little Houdinis.

Yes I really think Occam’s Razor (the simplest explanation is the most likely) applies here.

Not watched last night’s episode yet but interested to hear any updates on The Shadow Man. It’s interesting how in their analysis they’ll use some psychological explanations to explain away phenomena like suggestion for eg but not others like PTSD. Maybe bcos then it wld descend into the equivalent of it’s all in your head, you’re “mad” & that’s what stopped pple sharing their experiences in the first place & what’s supposed to give the programme its edge in the first place. But given everything Julian went through with both parents’ illnesses he could have easily been experiencing traumatic flashbacks, hallucinations & voice hearing.
Curious to know if pple think production are in on blatant fake stories, or if they’ll run with pple that don’t seem that authentic or if it’s all a complete con?? I liked the radio version for its supposed authenticity & felt genuinely like this guy who is team sceptic usually stumbled across a whole world of strange phenomena he decided to keep exploring/sharing. I still love it & also curious too now if anyone’s been to the live shows & if they’re any different to all the usual offerings (my House is Haunted eg). I kind of thought/hoped this offering was a bit different.

Other people have seen this shadow man too
That one was so weird.

Sorry my @ isn't working Confused

I might have missed it but don't think Danny spoke with the babysitter. The mum just told Danny what the babysitter said. Agree with hamsters are great at being escape artists. Also if strange things were happening to your daughter, you wouldn't move her out that room? She could have shared a room with her sister or mum. I thought the same about Emily's position at the top of the stairs. If the man pushed her chest Emily wouldn't have fallen down the stairs but back the way. They did find a link and it turned out it wasn't the park. The name was of a old train station.

Have you guys seen new tour tickets go on sale next Friday?

This week’s story had holes in it and poor hamsters!!

But what I really don’t understand why on any of these “I’m absolutely terrified because of something in the bedroom” type stories is why people insist their children / whoever it is go to bed in there every night. Surely if you thought something was out to harm you or your children, you’d sleep or let them sleep somewhere else rather than them being terrified every single night??

Sanguinello · 22/02/2025 19:20

witchycat2 · 21/02/2025 21:33

Surely the cat is the obvious perpetrator re. Dead hamster. They often leave their dead prey in the same place as a present for owners.

Danny should have got the cat on the programme to explain himself.

suburburban · 22/02/2025 20:13

Yes he seemed to do ok

KimberleyClark · 22/02/2025 21:29

I wish Danny was more forensic in his questioning sometimes. And I’m getting increasingly fond of Ciaran.

Screamingabdabz · 22/02/2025 21:45

I want to love Uncanny but it does frustrate me. So for example the teenage witness who screamed and saw the shadow man at the same time period as Jonathan on tonight’s show - I wanted Danny to ask so what happened? Did it disappear? Did your mum or dad hear you scream? Did they see it? Etc. Nobody asks follow up questions!!!

And why didn’t they give any historical info for the Victorian house? (Obviously a dud). And why did the ghost only want to kill them if they went to the park? Why would it give a shit about that family going to that one location?

They test the ‘science’ and draw out the programme but they should be getting full stories. So in tonight’s story, the daughter woke up screaming that she could see an old man and a child and yet as the story unfolded it appeared he’d always been there according to her. Also why would she be up playing with the little girl when she says the room terrified her? They never got into the psychology either - mum and dad split up, new partner? And what did the other sister experience?

It’s never the fully fleshed out story.

Meltedcandlewax · 22/02/2025 21:59

Sanguinello · 22/02/2025 19:20

Why would three hamsters be killed but not the cat? 🐈

ClioMuse · 22/02/2025 22:02

Maybe the hamsters wanted to go to Hesketh park
