The adaptation of Harlan Coben's novel is coming to Netflix on New Year's Day.

I've recently read the book so I'm looking forward to the series.

Can't wait! Cast includes Ashley Walters (Top Boy), Rosalind Eleazar (Slow Horses), Richard Armitage - as always, and James Nesbitt - again.

witchycat2 · 30/12/2024 20:48

James Nesbit seems to be in every detective/thriller drama!

Also only 5 episodes.

BobnLen · 01/01/2025 09:17

I made a start, it's good

mum2jakie · 01/01/2025 09:49

Brill - forgot this had been released today! New Year's Day viewing sorted!

Rosecoffeecup · 01/01/2025 11:29

Just finished episode 3, thought this ep was a bit wishy washy after a good start. Hope 4 and 5 redeem themselves

catkatcatkat · 01/01/2025 11:36

Thank you, this is just what I need for today!

Cottonheadedninhymuggins · 01/01/2025 12:14

ep 2 here good so far.

witchycat2 · 01/01/2025 12:20

I've binged it (what else is there to do on a rainy bank holiday?)

It was good but as always, the book is better. I suppose they had to change a few things as it's originally set in the US. They could have dragged it out to 8 episodes but at least there wasn't too much filler.

Everyone always has such ridiculous homes in these adaptations!

princesspadam · 01/01/2025 13:14

I really need to get round to these series'

Is there a best one to get started on?

From best to worst of the ones ive watched:

Safe
The Stranger
Missing You
Stay Close
Fool Me Once

Just finished Missing You, thought it was very good overall. Glad it was only 5 episodes tbh, Fool Me Once was ridiculously strung out

BobnLen · 01/01/2025 13:28

I still have one episode to go, this one is about the right length.

My favourite one was Safe, which I think had Dexter actor in it, second favourite was the Stranger with Richard Armitage in it

Cottonheadedninhymuggins · 01/01/2025 15:50

I quite enjoyed that. Glad it’s only 5 episodes and not 6 or 8 with masses of fillers.

PlumpHobbit · 01/01/2025 17:32

Watched episode one so far and hooked!

Have got some ideas about who was involved with her Dad, be interesting to see if I'm right on onto something, said quite early on.

Be interested to see if the 2 seemingly separate cases tie in together

Going to watch gladiators and traitors then hopefully get another episode in

Not quite as gripped as I was by Fool Me Once but didn't end up scrolling while watching, which I did with the latest series of Squid Game

And Steve Pemberton .....which s the only reason I;m watching it ( well sort of watching , I have MN too )

He's playing the evil dog breeder .

UnhappyAndYouKnowIt · 01/01/2025 19:40

I wasn't expecting Steve Pemberton to appear with a very "inside number 9" vibe 🤣

He was very "To Have and To Hold" wasn't he Shock
Maybe he said "Yes I really want to do this but I'm not being a wimpy dork like I was in Happy Valley or Whitechapel"

bevelino · 01/01/2025 21:06

The incinerator scenes are truly horrific.

Wow really, I thought Fool Me Once was the worst of the lot!

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/01/2025 21:27

Ooh a new one! I got obsessed with theses terrible mad adaptions in lockdown. I like the crazy Spanish one with the nuns and the one set in the North of England with an inexplicible pole dancing club in the middle of nowhere.

Does anyone know why they set these very American books anywhere BUT America? It's very odd.

Crinkle77 · 01/01/2025 21:34

Just watched the first episode. Not keen on Kat and the language in the script is quite clichéd. And as if she could just get in to the prison hospital as easily as that.

foreverbasil · 01/01/2025 22:11

I watched one episode and thought it was pretty poor. Hate it when the script explains the backstory in such a clunky way. The whole premise is a bit silly really, I'm out.

FrenchandSaunders · 01/01/2025 22:21

Binged the whole lot today. Loved it.

Crinkle77 · 01/01/2025 22:24

One thing I'm wondering is why Kat didn't set up a fake account on the dating app and try and lure Josh in to meeting her that way. Surely it was obvious he would block her.
