The adaptation of Harlan Coben's novel is coming to Netflix on New Year's Day.

I've recently read the book so I'm looking forward to the series.

Can anyone explain why Lisa Faulkners brother was interviewed by Kat and said he had spoken to her the day before, all was fine and Brendon was just being a brat?

I think he had spoken to her, the kidnappers made her call him in order to transfer the money

Just finished it.
I thought it was ok - a few twists. Most I saw coming but good acting over all. Much better than Fool Me Once and the Stranger I thought.
I kept waiting for RA to be a baddie but it didn’t happen so that was good as at least that didn’t follow the usual HC pattern. I thought the actress that played Kat was really good.
Definitely worth the watch.

I was wondering that too

fatphalange · 10/01/2025 15:15

This was my least favourite HC. Found the flashbacks cringey as well.

Against my better judgment, I watched til the end. However, I don’t understand why Steve Pemberton was keeping people in the stable. Why? Was a reason given and I just missed it!

Weren't they all the people he'd catfished? The moment he had access to all their money, he'd murder them.

PuppyMonkey · 12/01/2025 16:14

This was the biggest pile of shite I’ve watched in a long time, the ending was pathetic and the bloke kidnapping people and keeping them tied up in a stable. WTF? Grin So stupid I found myself Grin through most of that. Suspend disbelief I did not.

Plotting The Simpsons GIF

Also, Marc Warren's character was called Monte LeBurne and all I could think of was...

Cocolapew · 12/01/2025 17:26

I love HC books, he's one of my favourite authors but these adaptations are always shite 🤦, this was definitely the worse.
The actor playing Aqua was terrible.
The best adaptation was the French one but I can't remember what one it was.

GreyAreas · 18/01/2025 12:54

I couldn't quite understand why every single one of Kat's friends and family decided to lie to her about her Dad (and Josh's reappearances) when her main drive in life was to find out the truth?

roses2 · 18/01/2025 13:05

Binge watched this last night, enjoyed it a lot. Have put some of the other series mentioned here on the list!

He was taking all their money from them.

I really like her in Slow Horses!

We watched this despite reservations. Maybe we learnt our lesson this time. We drive ourselves insane with asking why they all do such stupid things. As for Aqua 🤷‍♀️ to me it's just distracting and yes we had to have her involved and talking about her life difficulties 🙄

the80sweregreat · 03/02/2025 12:00

We watched it all this weekend and I did enjoy it ! The main lead was very good and although keeping secrets seemed counter productive, I guess it was the only way of moving the story forwards to present day ?
Loved the Spaniel and glad that survived!
Nice to see Chantelle from Eastenders in it and the mums friends were great!
Was just entertaining nonsense with the usual Harlan Corben actors on board

unconditionalpurelove · 25/02/2025 23:15

This has been the best one in my opinion.

OneFineDay13 · 26/02/2025 09:49

I watched it and found it quite good

SilvieBear · 24/03/2025 23:55

I know I’m late to the party on this, but I’ve just finished it. And bloody hell, the ending 🙄
She wouldn’t actually stay with him?!
I was huffing at the TV when she just blindly seemed to take him back disregarding the fact he buggered off 11 years ago (and quite obviously killed her Dad). And then when she finds out she what? Is thinking of just putting it all behind her? Shit ending.
