The adaptation of Harlan Coben's novel is coming to Netflix on New Year's Day.

I've recently read the book so I'm looking forward to the series.

Just finished the last episode and felt like the ending got cut off - like they ran out of time or something!

Good scenes in the farm and well done to Dana.

That dog breeder Titus was a proper pyscho. Glad Kat killed him.

mnahmnah · 05/01/2025 19:26

Does the ending imply that she stays with him and they just carry on as if nothing is different?!

XelaM · 05/01/2025 20:03

Nooo the dog breeder was the only likabile character for me. Loved the puppy buying scene 😂 and I love the actor. He was amazing in Happy Valley.

Newgirls · 05/01/2025 21:48

I was hooked! It’s not meant to be believable is it? It’s meant to be bonkers and over the top. And funny sometimes - the dog breeder stuff was a dig at the middle classes etc

I quite like Nesbit in this - the gangster who was also wondering what on earth happened.

also liked the blue and terracotta colour theme throughout - got some interiors inspo while watching

Why were they doing it though? The kidnappings? Was it just for the money and picked random rush people that could afford the £25k? Or were they people who had mistreated dogs? I didn't get the link at all!

Rich people that should say.

BananaSpanner · 05/01/2025 23:06

Bloody hell the plot holes in that ending!

Newgirls · 06/01/2025 09:31

The dog stuff was his passion and he clearly preferred dogs to people. That was funny I thought as loads of people say that and then he was shown to be a psycho.

it was like midsummer murders on crack

Disturbia81 · 06/01/2025 10:19

He really can play any role that man, but he's great at psychos and weirdos 😆

KateReddy · 06/01/2025 16:57

Just finished episode 3, am off work I’ll so might as well persist.
Just wondering why is Acqua being played by such an obvious transwoman, is that integral to the plot? Hmm

CandyCane5 · 06/01/2025 18:00

Missing You was absolutely terrible! I might have to read the book to understand it.
To find her missing fiance, had zero connection to the shady cam stuff, people being tied up on the farm and murdered dad. All very very loose and unbelievable. Usually love HC stuff and at the end I'm like 'ahh!' but not with Missing You.

Aqua in the book is a man who cross dresses. The Netflix version changes this and makes Aqua a trans woman.

Absolute shite, the worst of HC and I like his Uk adaptations usually, this was pants with shit acting apart from the lead Ros Eleazer, Steve Pemberton and Nesbitt.

No idea of the relevance of Mary Malone, pointless forced diversity and piss poor acting, disappointed at Lisa Faulkner’s performance, she’s forgotten how to act, I like her usually, her cooking is better these days. Dreary storyline.

thank god it’s finished.

So a man that cross dresses?

BigcatLittlecat · 06/01/2025 19:37

Just watched the last episode! What? O dont know where to start! Do you think she will stay with him?

TimeForATerf · 06/01/2025 19:39

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 02/01/2025 22:51

I said, “is that it?” too. The dodgy dog breeder’s storyline needed far more explanation. Plus it would never have worked, kidnapping people and forcing them to send money from their bank accounts. Their accounts would obviously be looked into as soon as they were reported missing and it would come back to the dog breeder in the end.

I would also like to add: Kat shot someone and then was immediately allowed to leave the scene by the Police. Even in self defence, she would be questioned. And what are the chances that they just happened upon the image of the investigating officer’s ex fiancé, out of all of the inactive accounts on social media?!

Don’t even get into Brendan being taken off in an ambulance after being shot yet the forensic CSIs were already on the ground in their white paper suits looking busy.

Thanks for the explanation, I’ll try and roll my eyes less as there’s a legitimate reason.

I'm watching The Five after recommendations on this thread. It's very good.

I think this is my favourite HC tv series out off all of the ones I’ve seen (I’ve seen all the dubbed ones too!!)

witchycat2 · 06/01/2025 19:56

@TimeForATerf in the novel Aqua is viewed as a man by the other characters and referred to as 'he'. In the Netflix version they refer to the character as 'she'

The best HC adaptation (although I think it may have been written by him for tv rather than adapted from one of his books?) in my opinion was actually on Sky, before the Netflix ones. It was called The Five and was absolutely brilliant.

Agreed. It was wonderful! On Amazon I think but I had to pay for it

The eye rolling will continue then…🙄

DreamW3aver · 06/01/2025 20:26

Thanks for the recommendation of The Five, it seems to be free on Now TV so going to watch it next

Meredusoleil · 06/01/2025 20:41

Did anyone else noticed Kat's fingers looked a bit strange in the final scene or was that just me not paying attention properly?!?

mnahmnah · 06/01/2025 21:06

I’m familiar with a few of the filming locations, which were nowhere near each other. So I was distracted by that too!

Violetparis · 06/01/2025 21:34

What a load of rubbish ! Think I only stuck with it as the episodes were so short. With the exception of the main actress and Steve Pemberton the acting was terrible especially Aqua, Josh and Stagger. Josh and Stagger were like planks of wood.
