Anyone watching this? Started tonight. I'd never heard of Emma Sidi before, I think she's funny..

This series is definitely the best one for ages. I think I just tolerated the last one, but we are howling every week now with this one. Even Fatiha is growing on me now. Alex seems to be having a lot of fun too. Love seeing him laugh at the contestants and the tasks.

murasaki · 31/05/2025 11:35

They all seem to be having fun. In recent ones there has often been a humourless uber competitive one, e.g. Mae Martin, so I'm glad its not like that this time.

CollaterlieSistersSister · 31/05/2025 15:32

Absolutely one of the best series in ages.

Jason’s celebration at winning was so funny, the energy at that recording must have been fantastic. He’s just a brilliant addition all round.

Mathew is up there with Mike Wozniak in the loveable stakes. Getting stuck in, really funny especially in the studio banter.

Stevie I wasn’t overly familiar with before, but she’s an absolute gem.

Rosie is good value, likeable and enthusiastic. I loved her horny balloon dance!

I struggled with Fatiha at first (her refusal to do the raisin studio task was an awkward start). But she’s really growing on me. She’s clearly loving it more than came across initially, and has been genuinely funny at times.

And they all seem to get on really well, so that comfort is translating into really entertaining studio bits. I also agree that the lack of an uber competitive boring one - Mae Martin, John Robins etc - just really lifts the vibe.

Taskmaster is BACK!

murasaki · 31/05/2025 16:12

I like Fatiha, being grumpy is just her shtick, she gets stuck in. She was good value on David Mitchell's Outsiders too.

Stevie was new to me, like her a lot, and Jason is hilarious. As is Matthew.

Rosie I'm a bit 'meh' about but not in a dislike her way.

Twonewcats · 31/05/2025 21:37

Fatiha has really come across well. There wasnt a lot of love at her being announced but she seems to have grown on a lot of people.

I sort of feel Rosie is verging on taking it too seriously. The campfire song was a bit much for me.

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/05/2025 23:38

@Twonewcats I’ve seen Chris and Rosie live and a whole section was made of her singing voice. I get the feeling she’s just kind of fallen into comedy via Chris and would actually rather be singing! Just my thoughts on it!

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/05/2025 23:40

I am struggling with Fatiha because of all the innits, bruv, bosh talk. I expect this from my teens. Not a 44 year old woman. Feels to me like she’s trying to be “down wiv da kids”. But I had never heard of her before this so maybe that’s just her style 🤷🏻‍♀️

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/05/2025 23:41

I am also extremely excited to be seeing Greg on tour this week!!!

murasaki · 31/05/2025 23:42

Every time I see Rosie I am reminded of Mean Girls and 'stop trying to make fetch happen'

Chris is trying to make her happen and it doesn't sit well with me. She's nice enough, but no.

PickAChew · 31/05/2025 23:44

Rosie is lovely and funny and warm but very much what the reddit taskmaster sub would term "wholesome". A fitting Yin to Fatiha's Yang.

I think that was my issue with the singing - it wasnt amazing, she had a pleasant enough voice, but the reaction was as if she was the new Charlotte Church 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think Matthew fills that box well. Look at how he gave Stevie the points and approaches everything with a smile.

Costacoffeeplease · 01/06/2025 00:08

I’m finding the tasks fairly tedious, perhaps pealympics excepted. I found myself scrolling on my phone this week

It feels like they’re running out of ideas, and contestants (eg RR)

murasaki · 01/06/2025 00:18

True, its getting tough to think of line ups.

I'm positing David Mitchell, Diane Morgan, Nabil Abdulrashid, Tamsin Greig, Frank Woodley.

Obviously Mitchell would never do it.

Twonewcats · 01/06/2025 01:02

Robert Webb, Vic Reeves, Stewart Lee, Henning Wehn, someone with a disability eg Warwick Davis or Chris McCausland, Holly Walsh, Rachel Parris, Alan Carr, Ed Byrne, Jamie or Natasha Demetriou, Hannah Waddingham

murasaki · 01/06/2025 01:08

I do love Henning Wehn. And either Demetriou is a good shout. Re disability, I agree but blindness might not work, actually I'd like Francesca Martinez, they'd need to think about adaptations more for some people, which would be a good thing. Will think on.

ClosingTheDoorOnThePast · 01/06/2025 01:20

I agree that the tasks are a bit tedious this series, it feels like they are trying too hard for new ideas. But I really like all the contestants. Mat giving Stevie his win, what a gem ❤I hope he wins.

CollaterlieSistersSister · 01/06/2025 05:18

I wonder whether Reece Shearsmith would do it, now that Steve Pemberton has. Clever, creative and witty.

Mind you, I don’t think he takes criticism well and seems rather intense so maybe not a good idea for him.

You will have a great time! We saw him in February and loved it! Wish I could go again

Twonewcats · 01/06/2025 10:15

Some tasks are far too convoluted now.
I'd like to see a basic task, like "Fall asleep im exactly 20 mins," they're hooked up to sleep analysis machines to check when they do. Granted, there's no room for many jokes watching them try to sleep 🤔😅

Re blindness etc, there could be tasks where he has an advantage over the others, and the points would even out across the series.
The previous taste/smell tests would also all work perfectly well.
Rosie Jones showed that she was way better at some of the physically demanding tasks than anyone expected

Umanresources · 01/06/2025 13:16

I'd like to see Maisie Adam, Zoe Lyons, Cariad Lloyd, Miles Jupp, Richard Ayoade, John Thompson, Harry Hill, Bill Bailey, Diane Morgan, David Mitchell, Stephen Merchant, Suzii Ruffell and Henning Wehn.

OMG he was soooo funny! Tears streaming down my face for most of it 🤣

CollaterlieSistersSister · 05/06/2025 20:09

Contestants for s20 leaked. Happy bunny 😁.

One, who I’m a huge fan of, may come off badly I suspect - despite being very funny when needed, seems quite a serious chap. We shall see.
