Anyone watching this? Started tonight. I'd never heard of Emma Sidi before, I think she's funny..

Was that the same Quentin as the Quentin in Chris ramsays/judy love/ Sophie duker series where they had to guess his name?

According to the podcast yes he was!

BuzzieLittleBee · 24/10/2024 22:07

Loved today's episode! Jack and Rosie got away lightly in the team task. Jack didn't lie at all!

ClaudineMallory · 25/10/2024 07:22

The team task was good - Emma Sidi is very sharp and Rosie cottoned on quickly. I like Andy Zaltzman, he's very dry.

yes Andy is turning into my favourite here I think. A little too try-hard to be eccentric all the time, but yet he's quite funny with it all, so I have grown to like him. Rosie has grown on me a bit too, being clever in some of the tasks, but I still don't find her humour at all funny and can't watch some of the grim bits. I like Emma too but I don't think she thinks outside the box enough to win, whereas Jack seems to manage it without ever trying!

last night was OK, laughed at some of it like the fortune cookies

I think Rosie should have lost the points as it was all supposed to be doubled, and if she'd had more points to begin with, they might have done that, but as she's last, it probably would seem unfair.

Samcro · 25/10/2024 09:51

the team tasks always seem a bit unfair.3 against 2.
I really didn't get why Emma got 5 points in the prize task.

BuzzieLittleBee · 25/10/2024 12:51

I think the team tasks balance out in the end in that some favour a team of 2 and some favour a team of 3. I remember Jack of the People's Podcast doing a full analysis of this, and saying there is no pattern (across all series, in all countries) which suggests a bigger team is better.

And yes to Emma's 5 point prize task. Should have been Jack, surely?

ClaudineMallory · 31/10/2024 21:43

I liked the barrel task! Lobsters live forever 😂

The glasses task was a good one as well.

Yes the tasks have been quite good this week. The humour isn't there in the way it might have been with other contestants, but it's still made me laugh tonight

ClaudineMallory · 31/10/2024 21:56

Yes, it's made me laugh this week.

That was properly funny! I think Andy will win.

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/10/2024 22:48

I've watched this weeks and I vaguely know what the glasses task was and no clue about the barrel task. I have no interest in this series looking at you Rosie----

You come across as having decided you're not going to enjoy it, regardless.

How can you have no clue about it?! It was pretty straightforward. Do the thing on the barrel. If you don't get it 'right' in 2 gos, go back to the beginning and start again. You need to be at an odd number barrel when your time is up or you're disqualified. You have the amount of time it took to answer Alex's questions at the start.

Simple really. And effective. A very amusing task.

WhatICallMyUsername · 31/10/2024 23:25

Because that's my point. I watched it tonight but I wasn't concentrating enough to even know what the barrel task was as it wasn't holding my attention

ClosingTheDoorOnThePast · 31/10/2024 23:54

It's not the best series but am still enjoying it. Emma was funny tonight with her interesting legs! Ouch!

Samcro · 01/11/2024 07:53

i really laughed this week. poor Emma her legs must have hurt. can't take to Andy.

BuzzieLittleBee · 01/11/2024 08:21

Yes, Emma's legs must have been burning! I bet she couldn't walk the next day.

I am a big fan of TMS, and associate Andy with that moreso than any of his stand up/comedy stuff. I didn't even know he was a comedian until I heard him on The News Quiz. So I'm really enjoying seeing a different side to Statistician Andy and all the cricket references.
Also enjoying Rosie much more than I thought I would.

LadyR77 · 01/11/2024 11:55

I really liked last night's show - loved the barrels and glasses tasks. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this series much, given my dislike of Rosie Jones, but it's been better than I'd thought it would be. She's not irritated me quite as much as she usually does, and the other contestants are all good. There's been a couple of duff episodes, but it's been mostly really enjoyable.

IPartridge · 01/11/2024 12:59

I liked how Rosie benefited from speaking slowly 😁

Although it's improved in the last few episodes, overall I think it's probably the weakest series for me.

Umanresources · 01/11/2024 14:31

I’ve found myself dozing off during this series, which I’ve not done before. I’d lump this with Series 8 as my least favourite, the one with Iain Stirling and Lou Sanders. I only particularly like Jack Dee on this. I’ve seen Baba and Emma on other things and not been a fan of either after watching them.

Im looking forward to seeing who is going to be on the next series. I’m also curious about the Junior Taskmaster, although thinking about the type of child taking part makes me a bit wary. I do like Rose Matafeo and Mike Wozniak though.

ClaudineMallory · 01/11/2024 16:35

Rosie has been great, she's sharp, funny and so enthusiastic! I find her quite charming. Plus - what a great thing to see a woman with CP on mainstream TV, not an object of pity, but joining in with gusto!

So agree
i do wonder about the dislike

ClaudineMallory · 01/11/2024 18:00

I don't understand the dislike of her, which at times has been quite strong.

OP posts:
Stoneyellow · 01/11/2024 18:20

She herself has very strong views on anyone who is gender critical and has been robust in her opinions.
