Anyone watching this? Started tonight. I'd never heard of Emma Sidi before, I think she's funny..

I don't enjoy Rosie's usual comedy and disagree with her on certain things but, just like Frankie Boyle, I have found her entertaining on TM.

If you feel that strongly about people who insist that TWAW (I'm GC, to make it clear) that you cannot appreciate any of their work, you're best off not watching any TV or just staying away from the arts and entertainment industry full stop.

Samcro · 01/11/2024 18:40

I have no idea what all that means.

as a parent of an adult with CP, I like seeing her on mainstream tv.

Stoneyellow · 01/11/2024 18:20

She herself has very strong views on anyone who is gender critical and has been robust in her opinions.

Well, I don't know about any of that, I'm just talking about her performance on Taskmaster.

I think I explained earlier that her horrible remarks about Greta and refusal to accept she'd gone too far are what made me dislike her.

I just can't get past that.

DH can't stand her because he thinks she behaves like an attention seeking child and is embarrassed for her.

Samcro · 01/11/2024 23:07

Wow maybe your dh should educate himself about CP

LadyR77 · 02/11/2024 04:31

I don't usually like Rosie purely because I don't find her usual humour funny - her main jokes seem to be based on the fact that she's a sweary lesbian, and she just doesn't make me laugh. Nothing to do with her disability (it is great to see someone with CP on mainstream telly) and nothing to do with her views on gender. But yes, she's been quite good on TM so I've been pleasantly surprised.

No need to be educated. CP is not an excuse to behave badly. If you think that way then it's you in need of educating.

The previous poster has expressed exactly how it is.

Rosie has been great, she's sharp, funny and so enthusiastic! I find her quite charming. Plus - what a great thing to see a woman with CP on mainstream TV, not an object of pity, but joining in with gusto!

Which TBF isn't what you usually see when watching her stand up. But backs up the tv shows that she has written.

ClaudineMallory · 02/11/2024 14:30

I don't understand what you're saying, @FrippEnos . I haven't seen any tv shows she's written.

A terrible programme showcasing just how shite modern comedy stand ups have become.

Nothing on the 90s and 00s stand ups.

CitrusPocket · 02/11/2024 15:51

I thought this week’s was funny. I’ve enjoyed Rosie on the show. I know people say she has slow delivery but on TM I’ve found she’s been the main contestant who is straight in with a comeback or witty comment in response to a task or in the studio.

She has written episodes for Romesh presents, Trip Hazard, and Sex education.

ClaudineMallory · 02/11/2024 17:44

Ok, right. I've only ever seen her on this and Richard Osman's House of Games.

FrippEnos · 03/11/2024 06:54

She is very clever as can be seen in some of the tasks.

Umanresources · 03/11/2024 12:02

I'm not the biggest comedy Rosie fan; I just don't like women relying on smut, toilet humour or bodily functions to shock or get people to Pearl clutch, Sally Phillips is another I didn't find funny. I like Rosie when she is just trying to do a task without humour. I've seen her acting and she was incredibly moving in Call the Midwife, so it's the comedy I dislike, not the person.

Samcro · 03/11/2024 12:05

@Umanresources do you dislike Emma too?
I must admit I don't like all the smut and toilet humour. or in Emmas case the sex references. just not my kind of humour.

I liked Emma at first, but I’m not as keen now. She was on House of Games and I went off her a bit then. Rosie was on House of Games too but I didn’t mind her on that, once she had toned down the screaming and shouting!

PickAChew · 07/11/2024 21:49

My issue with this is the studio dynamic. Rosie, Jack and Emma have all gelled really well. Andy is really funny but is isolated from the first three by Baba who just seems to be on his own planet.

ClaudineMallory · 07/11/2024 22:17

Emma's artwork was really clever. Everyone else's was a bit dull. I felt sorry for Jack and Rosie with the ball task, the group of three made it look so easy. Mind you, they got the key to the kitchen.

Jack and Rosie used a pipe! A thing designed for substances to travel in one end and out the other! And they blocked the end of the gutter with some wires which were the very definition of "floppy". They should have been disqualified.

SerendipityJane · 09/11/2024 12:31

CBA to rewatch, but in the furlong task, did Jack keep the hat on all the time ?

BuzzieLittleBee · 09/11/2024 12:31

And there was a ball shown on the ground afterwards, which meant they should have been disqualified.

I (sadly) did rewind it, having seen the comment on here about it. Yes - he did. He handed it to Alex at the end, as did the others.

Medee · 09/11/2024 13:01

Are we talking about Junior Taskmaster anywhere? We really enjoyed it as a family, 9yo especially and probably laughed more than at some episodes of the current series. Rose and Mike are managing to shake off the shadows of Greg and Alex, and the kids were only occasionally too cheeky.

ClaudineMallory · 09/11/2024 13:20

I don't know, @Medee - there's possibly a thread?
I haven't been watching it.
