Season four is about to hit our screens. If you haven’t watched it, I thoroughly recommend it. Gary Oldman is superb.

I loved this book, thought it was the best to date but agree far too much detail was left out in this adaptation, it all made perfect sense by the end in the book but this felt rushed. Still enjoyed it though and will probably watch it again as I’ve got a month left on Apple TV

Killingmedeftly
Frank left the letters with Molly as his back up if he was arrested. And I guess had to release him within a certain period so he could stop the automatic email if all of them being sent?

CarolynMartens · 11/10/2024 17:17

I want to read the book now to fully get all the Les Arbres/River’s parents/grandfather section. Like pps have said I think we needed more time to really understand it.

I thought the scene where Lamb found Granger was so well done, Gary Oldman is so good. I think he’s probably someone Jackson maybe counted as a friend? And I’m glad Tom-from-Bridget-Jones will still be around next series.

’Bad Sam’

Oh, you said ‘Granger’? I just assumed you meant Sam Chapman!

Trebolle · 11/10/2024 17:42

I still can't quite believe Jack and Simon Pegg aren't related

I did! Why tf I think he’s called Granger I don’t know! 🤦🏻‍♀️

wildfellhall · 11/10/2024 19:10

"Bad Sam Chapman"

I love this very simple nickname!

Oblomov24 · 12/10/2024 22:55

We are on 4, Rivers return.
I too am struggling not enjoying season 4 as much, like pp, because lack of interaction between Lamb and River.

Puppupandaway · 13/10/2024 13:00

@Oblomov24 I felt the same, then the final two episodes were fantastic. I do feel this series is the weakest. Think it was too disjointed with them all spread out rather than working together.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 13/10/2024 16:38

I strugggled to make sense of the plot and motives in series 4. Still enjoyed it thouugh! The comments here have been helpful. I may have to read the books.

Oblomov24 · 13/10/2024 20:44

Just watched 5 & 6. Still found it a bit weak. The series are getting weaker.

echt · 14/10/2024 07:40

I found it was better binged.

I liked the way Jackson Lamb screwed down Taverner to a better offer on the money due to Langridge's family, just as he ensured Min would be honoured in the Spooks' church.

workshy46 · 14/10/2024 12:02

Agree it was the weakest one, like there was no real plot or understandable one and v vv little tension. I thought last series was the best so I don't think they are getting worse or anything.

EasternStandard · 14/10/2024 12:03

It wasn’t great. We got through it but I couldn’t really follow the plot and the amount of arguing in the team felt irritating

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2024 22:03

We've just binged S4 over 3 nights, maybe that made the plot easier to follow.

There's one thing in the whole series which baffles me, perhaps it's explained in the books or I missed it early on - wtf did Louise do to be consigned to Slough House?

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2024 22:37

Ah thanks - I don't recall that being mentioned but then it is a bit scant.

ipredictariot5 · 16/10/2024 22:40

It could have done with another 2 episodes the book is the best in the series and it just all felt rushed with the interesting character development was left out

EternallyDelighted · 17/10/2024 15:12

Yes, I though this was the best book but the weakest adaptation to date.

IWantedThereThereButItsGone · 19/10/2024 20:35

Thanks!

That’s good to know.

monicagellerbing · 19/10/2024 21:17

@Jennyathemall sorry I meant season 4

wildfellhall · 20/10/2024 08:25

Haven't they already shot season 6?

I loved the Gary Oldman 'Tinker, Taylor' and the team which made that would have been up for more but I read that the le carre family weren't big fans of Oldman's Smiley.

If that's true - wow; I thought he was fantastic and the whole film.

wildfellhall · 20/10/2024 08:26

Oh no they've shot 5?
