Season four is about to hit our screens. If you haven’t watched it, I thoroughly recommend it. Gary Oldman is superb.

This season is just excellent, I'm watching each episode immediately though and then wishing the week away because I want MORE. I think James Callis could be there as a bit of a bumbling fool but still move the plot along significantly - he makes some moves in E3 that will no doubt have repercussions 😬

LightandBreezy · 19/09/2024 13:31

Not about the programme as such but Standish and Louisa looked 🔥at the Emmys

Oh wow Standish is a stunner

KillingMeDeftIy · 20/09/2024 11:51

Wow, they look amazing! I also had no idea Jack Lowden was married to Saiorse Ronan.

Really enjoying S4 but not sure I can take another cliffhanger ending!

They’ve been together for a while but got married just recently, I think.

Thank you light and breezy for those photos, I love this cast so much.

I can't wait til the next episode.

I hope they don't leave us hanging horrendously like they did after one of them... already forgotten which one.

I want Saskia back in the office but I do also worship Joanna Scanlan - in that fantastic wig 🙌🙌

wildfellhall · 24/09/2024 09:54

Is it 24 hours to wait?

Madcats · 24/09/2024 10:12

We're re-watching Series One to fill the weekly void.

wildfellhall · 24/09/2024 10:56

I've done that though.....
Maybe I could just watch them all again?

LightandBreezy · 24/09/2024 17:27

I've rewatched the last couple of episodes of season 2 to tide me over (didn't really want to rewatch the Min episodes😕) and might now go back to season 1 - I've already potentially spoilered something that may happen later in the series (if they faithfully follow the books that is) by reading Reddit threads that include comments from people that have read them all, so I really need to avoid doing that again. Apparently there are some additional backstory books ( into character's histories ) and I'm quite tempted to give them a go. Has anyone here read the novels? The consensus on Reddit seems to be they are even better than the series!

BroccoliSurprise · 24/09/2024 22:41

The books are really good. They do differ from the TV series. I watched the show first and then read the first 3 books and I was just as gripped. I didn't have that sense of disappointment you sometimes get when the show and books don't match up, I think the changes always make sense and it means you are still kept on your toes a bit.

I was going to try and read book 4 behind the TV show but it was too good so I had to finish it.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/09/2024 22:54

We've just finished the first series, glad to hear it stays good/gets better.

EternallyDelighted · 24/09/2024 23:17

I think the shows to date are pretty faithful to the books, I read the first two after watching S1/2 and was reading book 3 in parallel with watching it on TV last year, then read the rest of them. Both equally good and will no doubt read them again at some point.

wildfellhall · 25/09/2024 07:15

Not long to wait now! 😵‍💫

IWantedThereThereButItsGone · 25/09/2024 13:44

God, Jonathan Pryce is so good as David Cartwright - I’m strongly reminded of an elderly relative of mine from just his first scene in Ep 4.

I too took to the novels to tide me over between episodes last year. Have now read them all. The adaptation differences are interesting - a bit less complex and more schlocky than the books - but if anything more convincing and less repetitious.

MistyWitch · 25/09/2024 19:31

Just discovered this gem when I remembered I had Apple TV a couple of weeks ago and had a nose through their offerings. It's fantastic. I'm now all caught up and desperately waiting for next week. As a night owl does anyone know if the episodes are available from midnight? As then technically I'll only have to wait until Tuesday night to watch.

IWantedThereThereButItsGone · 25/09/2024 19:56

Not sure - maybe! I generally only remember it’s available at around lunchtime on Wednesdays so haven’t checked earlier.

LightandBreezy · 25/09/2024 20:25

@MistyWitch they're not available at midnight, the earliest I've been able to watch was about 5 am Wednesday

readingmakesmehappy · 25/09/2024 21:05

I think this is the best series yet. The book was a bit weird but this has streamlined it nicely. They're letting the characters breathe into their true awfulness a bit more, esp with Roddy Ho and Jackson Lamb.

wildfellhall · 26/09/2024 07:08

Last night's episode was SO GOOD.

The stress of watching it.

The terrible wait for the next episode.

MarkWithaC · 26/09/2024 11:13

I haven't watched it yet; DP and I make pathetic attempts at 'saving it up', which actually means we wait until, ooh, Thursday night to watch it Grin

AuntieMarys · 26/09/2024 11:17

There was a real " ooh" moment with things dropping into place last night .....

wildfellhall · 26/09/2024 11:36

But Thursday is closer to the next episode at least!

mazylou · 26/09/2024 13:28

We are barely coping with the decision to wait until a couple of days after episode five drops, but at least then we can rip through in three nights. Cannot wait.

wildfellhall · 26/09/2024 11:36

I know, but barely GrinIt just feels like a token gesture and we may as well watch it on a Wednesday really.
