Wrong decision in my (very unexpert) opinion. Tom had more potential than Toyah. I liked him. He got one of my votes last night.

I did wonder if with all the scandal they wanted less females or that female celebrities decided against it due to everything still going on about the issues.

The producers must have had female celebrities dropping out in July/August or they wouldn't have bought back Aljaz with all the publicity if it then meant benching equally tall Kai.

Shame Tom has gone so early, he was pretty rubbish but did have the potential to improve through the series unlike the people who are scoring 8s and 9s already. And he looks a lot like my youngest DS!

Can someone remind me what Tom did last week? I remember Toyah's and I think that's the problem - unmemorable (and this week I was distracted by Nadiya's bum!)

The outfits Tom and Nadiya had on last night just looked so itchy! That's what distracted me. And Tom being quite wooden.

I don't think that the public don't like Nadiya, she did very well with Dan Walker (who brought out the fun side of her personality). I think Tom suffered from a worse 2nd dance and being in the death slot in the running order.

I like Nadiya but my votes went to Luba and Nick because Luba is my favourite pro and I thought Nick did amazingly well with 2 days proper training and an injured arm,

Oops. I voted for Nick (music was unfair), Toyah (Neil's choreo was unfair) and Pete (I like him). Even if I'd not voted for Pete I'd have voted for Punam (undermarked). Paul could also have had a vote from me as Vindaloo was as atrocious as Parklife.
So I can see why Tom became the sacrificial lamb from all that.

Tom tangoed to Golden but not as well as NoVowels did.
He was adequate but a bit hunched/stooped.
He chachaed to Boogie slightly less distracting than Ainsley the penguin but obviously couldn't compare to Ashley, although Nads did try by dancing round him.

I voted for Tom and am sad that he was voted out. I like Toyah but she was terrible so how on earth did the judges vote her over Tom?

The big 2 polls are interestingly flawed this week. I'm not surprised that they've underestimated Paul's vote, he seems the type to have a high "casual viewer" personal vote. But I am surprised that they overstated Tom's/understated Nick's & Sam's vote.

Also interesting (but predictable in retrospect) that the poll for strictly superfans puts JB and Amy quite high and the poll for more general sports betting fans puts them really low. I think that the pre-show "The BBC have got it sewn up for Amy" narrative is very wrong.

Chris could actually win this. Wynne and Montell will be with us for a long time, which I'm very pleased about, both great partnerships.

I must admit I am disappointed that I will have to watch Toyah for another week. Cannot see what the judges have seen in her over Tom. Tom has the ability to improve. Toyah has shown no improvement.

True but she was, at least, entertaining to watch last night.
Tom's was a bit beige.
Do I think it could have gone either way? Absolutely.
Blame Motsi - she's the one who changed her leaning.
Had it gone Toyah, Tom, Tom then Shirley's casting could have gone the other way. Instead she went with Craig and Motz.
I'm surprised Tom is First Boot but that said, Kaye was perfectly respectable two years ago with Kai, a popular pro.
Tom wasn't the death slot but the show was so long he needed a firm fanbase or a really wow!/memorable routine or a sympathy vote. He had none of these
compared with others. I only hope Nick can continue otherwise it would have been better for him to have been bottom two.
It's always about the middle being precarious - as we all know by now, tops are safe and bottoms get saved. There's an amazing DS poster who does all the combinations Cwickham.

I can't imagine that Nick will have a medical problem going forward. He'd have been fine this week if they hadn't given him a dance with lifts and he hadn't lost so much time to hospital attendance. Bonkers not to change it to a simple foxtrot, they've done that before when people have picked up injuries midweek on a AS, they just take the lifts out and make it into a waltz/VW/foxtrot.

Unless he'd have struggled so much with arm placement for ballroom frame I guess.

I'm also not sure who I actually wanted to go. Sam and Paul didn't do it for me this weekend but last week I'd have been happy for both to have had my vote as Sam was delightful and Paul was hampered with that music.
It's always difficult when there's sympathy for the obvious duffers/novices. Sometimes undermarking helps them. The ones who are Dad Dancers or Walkers - Nick, Paul and Pete - all had reasons for a vote: Nick performing in pain on 16 hours only, after an okay jive week one. Paul will have a football base and those sympathising with him being given the "comedy" tag. Pete had the best chemistry with Jowita/is quite hard on himself.
Someone had to go.
That there are only six women does mean that Toyah might be safe for another week. The narrative of trying to protect Neil a bit from a First Boot is probably BS given that Nadija has had her fair share of that. Neil becoming Anton/Comedy pro also dubious, given he's not got a proven record as a safe pair of hands.
Let's face it, Chris and JB are in it for the long haul. Montell and Sarah have finalists written all over them. The fight for those four slots will come from Shayne and Jamie but I think they'll fall at the quarter-final/semis.
Babywarz, Dead Nanwarz and InjuryPorn came out a tad early yesterday.

I think the last 4 will be JB, Sarah, Tasha, and either Montell or Chris.

According to them:
Tom vs Toyah would mean:

• Sam, Nick and Pete could not have been last in the public vote, as they would all at minimum need to beat Tom in the public vote
• Punam could not have been last or second last in the public vote; she obviously also needs to beat Tom, but she also has to beat someone else to close the gap
• Paul could not have been in the bottom three in the public vote since there's a gap of three leaderboard points between him and Tom, he definitely needed to beat Toyah and at least one other couple in addition to Tom
• Everyone from Jamie upwards on the leader board could have finished last with the public and still not been in the dance-off, we learn nothing about their public vote

I forgot about Tasha!
She might nab Chris's place, saved by the judges if his public vote doesn't save him/hold up from Blackpool onwards.

When Cwickham does this, it always reminds me of those Logic Problem grids I was always crap at solving . Kudos!

Wynne should make it to the final, I think.

I'm sad for Tom that he's gone! It must be a big knock to his confidence that he got voted out first.

I think that he's relitively unknown compared to others and maybe that's why people hadn't got behind him 🤷🏼‍♀️ I was excited when I saw him sign up so feel disappointed to learn he's gone already!

I do think that the professionals popularity have a huge influence on the celebs. When I watch the pairing shows I'm excited to see who my fave professional has, not the other way round 🙈 I'm not sure that Nadia is all that popular.... maybe I'm wrong!
