Tonight gold and white are the ‘In’ colours. There's the obligatory wind machines and pyro. Watch out for dancing surprises cos there's No Rules and a distinct issue with the wardrobe department!

Don’t miss: Uk, Ukraine, Fan fav Croatia, WTF Finland hmm yes and hell yes Ireland.

Housekeeping: Out of the other 15 entries, only 10 will go through to the final. The semi-final is TELEVOTE ONLY. The UK, Germany and Sweden will all perform tonight as part of the main show in a change to previous years although they have already automatically qualified for the final.

I am really looking forward to tonight- I have not had chance to see many of the acts this year, but love the semis for the batshit acts that don't make it to Saturday.

It is on BBC1 at 8pm, not just iplayer.

I stand corrected. Upgraded to BBC1?! Wow. The semis were on BBC3 a few years back, then BBC2. Eurovision mania has really taken over the UK!

Red I think after the success of last year, (the semis were on BBC1 then too) they have kept it. Which is nice

It made sense last year with it being in Liverpool.

But to keep it on BBC1 is fab news. It means that when we tank on Saturday there's still an argument to support Eurovision due to viewing figures.

There was a lot of momentum around it, with it being 'at home' - but it's nice they have kept it on BBC1.

I think viewers who don't watch the semis miss out a bit - although I know lots like the 'surprise' of the Saturday.
