I’m not a telly addict but I became obsessed with Bridgerton during Covid times. I love the casting, the settings, the dances, the music, the yearning, and the guarantee of a happy ending.

I’m embarrassed to admit how much I love it in real life because it’s so shallow.

Is anyone else planning to binge watch season 3 when it’s released next Thursday? If so, can we set up a MN support group please?

I think we will definitely see more of the chemistry in the second half of the season, Kate and Anthony were love at first sight followed by fighting against it so it was a very different vibe.

The kiss at the end is episode 2 is the turning point for how Colin feels I think, he obviously likes her and enjoys being around her and always has and then they kiss and it suddenly shifts for him. I think they've got great chemistry, the carriage scene was beautiful.

I've now rewatched the carriage scene several times Blush suddenly I see what Penelope sees in Colin Grin

Mrs Mondrich always has the same facial expression.

I have rewatched the 4 episodes and enjoyed them more the second time round.

A lot of those are also with her character in Professor T, who, incidentally, is played by the late Lord Featherington (Ben Miller)

I think I need to go back and watch. How did Mr and Mrs. Mondrich go from the bar to Society?

KenAdams · 18/05/2024 21:00

Gutted I've read some of this thread. Wish there was a warning it contained so many spoilers from people who have read the book.

Her aunt Lady Someone died and left her whole fortune and title to the Mondritches’ oldest son. He’s still a child so they have control of the money until he comes of age.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/05/2024 21:18

If her Dad is Carson The Butler, isn't her Mum Imelda Staunton?

AnnunciataM · 18/05/2024 21:21

That’s right @EineReiseDurchDieZeit

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/05/2024 21:23

Oh I missed the other post! Duh! I'm tired

In future look out for threads that say "no spoilers" or "TV series only!"

Just finished and hate to say I do not see the chemistry between the two of them at all 😦 it's actually ruining it for me

I literally came to see this comment because I feel the same. Shes so beautiful and feel like she suited Debling better

I really didn't like Simone's acting in the last series too and was cringing at a lot of it. Wish they would cast better

fitnessxo · 18/05/2024 23:53

Also feel like Francesca hasn't really had any good looking suitors or ones that match her.
Eloise is probably my fave character and Lady bridgerton is absolutely gorgeous and the way she carries herself, and respects her children

I mean the books are over twenty years old so I don't know if you can call them spoilers after a couple of decades Confused

Appalonia · 19/05/2024 00:56

Just watched it. I found Eloise v unlikable this series, and felt her friendship with the vapid Cressida unbelievable. I can't remember why she has turned against Penelope so much, when they were practically inseparable before, can anyone remind me what happened between them, please?

Elouise found out Penelope was Lady Whistledown. This was after LW wrote about Eloise's friendship and going to political meetings with Theo Sharpe. Penelope said this was to protect Eloise (as the Queen thought Eloise was LW) but Eloise thought penelope was only protecting herself.

AuroraCake · 19/05/2024 08:40

Cressida seems anything but vapid at the moment. A better match for Eloise than Penelope was really. Penelope just enabled the rejection of society and basically was only interested in Whistledown. I know Penelope has been having a rough time but both girls are in healthier spaces.

i don’t much feel anything for this series. It seems a little…boring. Music hasn't been as good, and much of the storyline is just a bit boring now. They are getting older and still wandering around doing the same stuff. Maybe it’s the lack of someone new. It’s beginning to creak. Wonder how much time it has left. After this season I do suppose Colin and Penelope will be around less too.

Mistymornin · 19/05/2024 09:37

I haven't read the books so please bear with me! Aunt Petunia has passed away and has left her fortune to Lady Fetherington - is this correct? Or is the fortune side made up?

That’s the story they’ve made up, remember last series the new Lord featherington and Portia swindled money out of a lot of the ton for mines in the americas! This is a storyline that isn’t in the books.

hamsterno1 · 19/05/2024 09:52

@FiloPasty in the books, the aunt is made up so Penelope can give her family with fortune she has made from Lady Whistledown without suspicion

Huge spoiler for Benedict's story

Having got annoyed about the pointless fling with the older widow, I have now started thinking that they could be setting up his story through this story arc.
Could this widow have a step daughter ? ..

FiloPasty · 16/05/2024 20:20

For those that have read all the Bridgerton books which ones by Julia Quinn should I try next? Or should I try some Georgette Heyer?

I’m sorry if this has already been answered but I would definitely read Mary Balogh’s Bedwyn series. I love the Bridgerton’s but I think the Bedwyn’s just edge them. Just my opinion, of course.

I thought they might be setting up the Cowpers as having a step daughter! Lady Cowper's first name is apparently Araminta and she was talking about people stealing maids/ housekeepers I think

I don't understand the idea that Debling suited Pen better. He seems nice enough and he's honest about what he's looking for but Pen is a romantic who always has her head buried in a love story. She wants to marry for love.

The idea that she would be better suited to someone who plans to leave for years on end and is clear they are seeking a practical, transactional marriage only as opposed to ending up with someone she's secretly pined for for years just doesn't make sense to me!
