I’m not a telly addict but I became obsessed with Bridgerton during Covid times. I love the casting, the settings, the dances, the music, the yearning, and the guarantee of a happy ending.

I’m embarrassed to admit how much I love it in real life because it’s so shallow.

Is anyone else planning to binge watch season 3 when it’s released next Thursday? If so, can we set up a MN support group please?

Thanks but Yes I know what happened in the times which is why I was speculating Smile

Newsenmum · 19/05/2024 22:50

I love the featherington sisters! So funny. And I loved the carriage scene! I think the chemistry will heat up now. I was also preferring her with lord Debling until he mentioned there was no love.

My apologies 🙈,
The Novels are written in a very Rosy American perspective of what life was like In Regency England, perhaps Benedict gets a small estate that brings in some money but that’s it , none of the rest will live a very extravagant lifestyle .

Fulshaw · 20/05/2024 06:54

What happened to Benedict and his art? Seems to have disappeared as a storyline.

I think he got all disenchanted when he found out Anthony had bought his place in art school. I wonder if rediscovering his art will be part of his story in his season.

Huge spoiler for Benedict's story

Having got annoyed about the pointless fling with the older widow, I have now started thinking that they could be setting up his story through this story arc.
Could this widow have a step daughter ? ..

Just watching again (!!!) and wondering whether you may be right about Lady Tilly Arnold - adds a whole extra level of ick and awkwardness if she does have a stepdaughter though!

FiloPasty · 20/05/2024 17:29

I think Cressida mother (Araminta) is the evil stepmother and they are melding Cressida and Posy as one character so there is the redemption arch, have read a few bits putting this forward as a theory. I think the widow like Anthony’s opera singer is just to show that he has a past as all the bridgerton brothers are considered rakes.
shame if it’s the case as I liked Posy as a character

Newsenmum · 20/05/2024 17:56

Am I the only one who doesn’t get the love for Benedict?

Yes, I think so 😂

Upinthenightagain · 20/05/2024 18:21

I have tried and tried with this series and I don’t really get it. Watched to the end and just found the carriage scene and the whole romance very unbelievable.

CornedBeef451 · 20/05/2024 18:23

@Newsenmum no I don't understand the love for Benedict either.

minou123 · 20/05/2024 18:46

I think part 2, the next 4 episodes, will really get into the romance between Polin

I think we are so used to the whole "will thet, wont they" in all the other seasons, that we are funding in strange thet have gone straight into love etc.

minou123 · 20/05/2024 18:54

Also, I don't think we've had "The Line" yet.

S1 Daphne to Simon: I burn for you
S2 Anthony to Kate: You are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires
Queen Charlotte to George: George! I will stand with you between the heavens and the Earth. I will tell you where you are. Do you love me?

I'm looking forward to the line thus season

neverclockwatching · 20/05/2024 18:57

@cathyandclaire It would be very icky or it could be just a filler

Finally! His storylines are boring and I don’t really like the cowardly avoiding other women. Maybe his season will change things.

Question, if I start reading the books now, having only seen the TV series, should i still start with Daphne's? Or is it very similar to the show so won't miss out on not reading it?

I didn't, I read Colin's story first because I wanted to know what happened, then Daphne's, then Benedict then Eloise. I keep meaning to go back and read Anthony's but I've watched that series so many times!

cathyandclaire · 20/05/2024 21:51

I read them in order- but the first one is very similar to the show so can probably be missed.

hamsterno1 · 20/05/2024 21:52

Daphne's is quite similar to the series, so you can skip that.

Kate & Anthony story is very different so maybe start with that one.

bryceQ · 20/05/2024 22:10

If you love regency I'd honestly say the Stephanie Lauren's Cynster books are better.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 20/05/2024 22:32

I enjoyed the series but didn't really like Penelope or Colin, Penelope is two faced and Colin is probably riddled with syphilis from all his whoring.

I really liked the nature guy, he would be my perfect man 😁

The Queen annoyed me with her face like a smacked arse routine, she doesn't seem to have another expression now.

Foxlover46 · 20/05/2024 23:36

I've done this backwards , watched the 4 and never watched previous series.
I would happily marry the nature guy , 2 years away .. hell yes 😅he seems nice and genuine too , I like Colin and Pen together but wait till he finds out she's the writer!
Going to go back to the beginning now whilst waiting for the second half

Okki · 20/05/2024 23:45

I've watched the carriage scene multiple times Grin. I think it's one of my all time favourite declarations. I have read all the books and I am disappointed they changed the who and how of Lady Whistledown discovery. I also don't see the point in the Mondrich's story. All it does is fill in some time, which could have been used with a bit more of the Colin and Penelope substance that was in the book.

Eagerly awaiting June now.

Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes · 21/05/2024 00:16

By the time of Colin's book Anthony has become a really mature and kind natured older brother, a lot like his mom the way he sees things, wish we could see that in the series.

All of the brothers were gallant towards Penelope and danced with her at balls, not just Colin.

Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes · 21/05/2024 00:23

I am enjoying the memes now Grin
