Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

2004 in Ireland. So Karen wouldn't have been smoking in the pub on her trip to Dublin anyway!

It reminded me of that episode of friends where Joey was asked to audition for a new game show host that had really complicated rules that didn't make sense, but he practiced it with Ross and chandler. They became "experts" but by the time he went back to audition they had done away with most of the rules 🤣

I find it hard to watch any scenes with Karen; her overacting is too much

Was looking at Frankie and Danny’s house the other day which is curlys old house. Did I miss the renovations that opened up the downstairs? Or did it just miraculously happen? I’m sure when Tracey briefly lived in it it was still 2 rooms like when curly lived there

Yeah this. ^ Karen is getting a bit annoying now. I mean, she has a right to be pissed off but she's just relentless.

IMO no WAY could a relationship have a future if one of you has a baby with another person, and especially if they live a few doors away from you FGS! The whole storyline is a bit silly really.

Karen is very pretty, but I am sick of her maudlin, sour, pouty, angry face now. Especially when TracyLuv is anywhere near her!

She spends too much time looking like this!

Ohhhh....my daughter was in primary school with a girl whose half sister was in the same year. The half sisters were friends with each other.

The mums less so.

Yeah I can't work it ,i dont think curly had two rooms because the house was built by len fairclough many years after the other house ,s ( bitof corrie trivia!l)but it was sort of open planned and they had a small dining room table ,why haveDanny and frankie got a massive dining room table in their hall?🤔

Yeah IRL they wouldn't all be living in the same street and in and out of each others houses etc.

One of the UK mums had a baby with a guy called manley( he wasent very manly) nine months after his first daughter was born with his ex ,i think the relationship between the two mums was a bit fraught .

I think curly did have two rooms, all the houses do, it’s just we never see the room at the front in most of them - Barlows, Eileen’s, Emily’s, duckworths. (In modern Corrie what was Emily’s house where the baileys live, we saw that renovation when they moved in as he was a builder and did the t himself I think) . Occasionally we see Sally’s room at the front which they have as a living room. And of course the battersbys house has always been open. So at some point Curlys house was opened up so there is no hallway, and just one big room instead of 2. I guess they just didn’t show it happening.
I don’t know why but I get really into the houses and how they changed over the years, I’m the same with the houses on Neighbours…

What is Dev thinking, driving like a maniac between his blown-up shops? What does he think he's going to do when he reaches one? He's obviously clocked that Maya is behind it (although quite how she's managed to get into and upstairs of his shops and lay explosives, is another question), so why isn't he just calling his tenants and telling them to get out. As well as telling the police what's happening.

I did notice at the first shop that he arrived at, that only that building's windows were blown out and only that building was on fire 😄. The adjoining buildings didn't seem to have any damage.

I did enjoy the scenes with Frankie, Liz, Deirdre and Eileen having fun together today. I miss the strong women of old Corrie.

Dev’s an idiot. How long did it take him to call Sunita?

Advice I was given as a teenager. If you are in an upstairs room and you think there’s an intruder downstairs or outside, switch on as many lights as possible., open a window and throw stuff out. Things that will smash, make a noise so as to draw attention. Only ever had to do this once, got as far as opening window, lights on and neighbour noticed. He went and looked around outside my house.

dev should have smashed the window. Now he smashes it once it’s on fire.

Sunita's getting right on my wick. She's not stopped crying/wailing throughout the whole thing. I'm starting to have sympathy for Maya!!! 😂

Yep. And Maya's correct. Dev did lie to her about there being nothing between him and Sunita whilst going ahead and getting engaged to Maya.

That annoyed me too so much. Her screaming and wailing gave me a headache!

I had to turn the sound off because of Sunita's screaming.
Lucky her and Dev weren't knocked down by the fire engine, stopped about 6" away from them.

Lol she was annoying with all that whimpering whist being tied up to a gas cooker about to blow 🤣
I don't understand why dev didn't get some help before going into the corner shop flat , the men in the street would have helped him?

So karen is actually pregnant. I can't remember how that ended and I don't think I want to. Its going to be sad isn't it? Poor Karen. I wish she'd come back in modern day Corrie.

Yes unfortunately ,although there will be some dramatic scenes ...
I think Suranne Jones is far to good an actress ti come back to corrie now.

Just catching up on last week, my god the screaming from Sunita was unbearable
