Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

Poor Mike, I always liked his grin. I wonder what would have happened if Deirdre had chosen Mike.

She would have probably regretted it because he would have gone off somewhere else

Ken wasn't great at monogamy either.

I don't think it was Phil (Big Innes for the Still Game fans ) sending the cards.

It's been a while since I've watched them, but pretty sure the culprit is a lot closer to home.

Becky is starting to show a nasty streak, (getting jealous of Joanne.)

Also, Michelle Connor is in it now, as Vernon's band's new singer! Poor Liz getting all insecure and jealous. No idea why. Michelle is obviously gorgeous, but she's not going to be interested in 'Vern.' He's old enough to be her dad LOL! 😆 (And IMO not exactly good looking.) Even Bev said he's not exactly George Clooney! 😆

I had forgotten about Vernon, I haven't seen classics for ages!

I could have sworn that Mike got hit by a car, not had a heart attack, gosh my memory is not so good!

I remember him dying in Ken's arms, but I thought the storyline went on much longer at the time.

Leanne is really awful and grabby.

Very well written and acted exit (I heard the more liked the actor was the better their departure story). Good to see both Mark and Adam making an appearance too.

Was Leanne pregnant IRL in this - she seems to be wearing concealing outfits.

Yes she had her first child in july 2006

The scenes with Mike Baldwin were so sad, superbly acted and written though.
I didn’t realise Becky was such a nasty character when first introduced. Think the first I saw of her she worked in the Rovers.
All the storylines are human interest and how the characters are linked to each other. Ken was once Mike’s FIL and then his arch enemy. No heavy police presence and constant criminality like today’s stories are.

Michelle is the reason I stopped watching for ages, when all the gangster stuff started and she seemed to be screeching in all her scenes.
I got pulled back in with the Geoff and Yasmeen storyline but I've given up again now it's a mash up of Corrie and the Bill, with a sprinkle of Casualty.

Heartbreaking scenes with Mike. Really well done.
michelle has landed! I liked Michelle to start with but I think the exaggerated hands on hips and shouting put me right off, although I liked her friendship with Carla and she had some really traumatic storylines. Becky definitely didn’t start off as a fan favourite but she was a heart of gold character and is a genuinely great actress so I think they developed her.

Rita has catfished poor Norris.

Yes, one episode, as Emmerdale had an extended episode today.

Glad to see it was only 1 episode today. Thought it was 2 and only 1 had recorded!

Also, yeah Becky is a bit nasty, but she does mellow (like most of the nasties do,) Leanne is grabby! and it's nice to see Michelle.

Great scene with Mike going I agree.

Oh and I thought Leanne/Jane Danson was pregnant too. She must leave Classic Corrie for a while soon then!

Child Chesney were great!

Poor Ty, thinking he is too ugly and hairy for Molly! And she thought she wasn't good enough for him too! Glad they sorted it in the end!

And also, the evil looks from Jamie and Adam towards Danny! 😆 Could have curdled milk!

Really gone off Danny - loveable rogue with Frankie to absolute B with Leanne - hope the real will comes to light - and Mr Lucas (I think) from Are you being Served will save the day.

Agree with you about Danny @Tourist29 he has turned out to be a nasty piece of work. And Leanne is deluded if she thinks he loves her/wants her. He's still secretly mooning over Frankie. What a pity he lost her!!! Shouldn't have shagged his son's girlfriend then should he? Vile article! 😖

agree with you both, Danny started out as the cheeky chappie cockney, young version of Mike, who stole wives, ran off with young women and was unscrupulous in business. The version of Danny now is awful, he must be due his comeuppance shortly. I like Les and Chesney together too, Chesney loves him and he really cares about Ches in return. It is nice to see.
