Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

Oh I definitely missed an episode then, I remember thinking something else wasn't quite adding up in another storyline so I'll have a look on the ITV player and try to find it. Thank you 😊

David made out to Gail it was an accident but he taunted Phil with the fact he did it on purpose.

I've just been back through ITV player and I had completely missed two episodes broadcast on 16 January, no wonder it seemed like I'd lost the plot! I've just watched them both and it explains a lot.

I was also surprised when Mr Ed dropped into conversations with Eileen the other day (when he'd slept with her) about always getting up early when he was inside.
Things make more sense to me now 🤣

I thought there must be something about Ed. Wouldn’t he be on licence with conditions of where he couldn’t go, or didn’t that apply in 2005/6.?

Maggie Jones as Blanche was just brilliant. Said it like it was. Storylines, scripts and acting all far better than current Corrie.

Emily was horrible to poor Eileen, calling her stupid. I never really understood the love for the Emily character. She's nasty to Norris too a lot of the time.

I never understood the Emily love. She was the same with Percy Sugden as she is with Norris, eye rolls and putting him down. She was very mean to Eileen but I suppose the whole thing with Ed has really upset her. So lovely for Fred to get it together finally with Bev.

ITVx have cocked up again. Only yesterday and today’s episodes available to watch. I haven’t seen it since last Thursday. 😡

Yeah this. ^ But we're all supposed to love her because she's a 'dear elderly lady,' and a Christian! 🙄 She is really rude and judgemental. I remember when Curly was dating a black girl, and she was outraged and disappointed in him for dating her because she was black. (Shirley Armitage... Late 1980s) Emily really is not a nice person, but no-one is allowed to say that.

Yeah, I am pleased for Bev and Fred too. 😍 I hope they last. I genuinely can't remember if they do. Or even if they make it as far as the wedding!

She's not very Christian is she despite being very involved with the church
She treated Percy terribly always referring to him as Mr Sugden always with not very well hidden contempt
She treats Norris as a bit of a joke but tbf he has a bit more about him than percy.and can stand up to her. .

I'm not expert but if he was found guilty of murder than my understanding is that is always a life sentence and would be on licence for the rest of his life
However he said he served 15 years and if he went to prison in 1978/79
He would have got out in 1993/94 so at this point has been out for coming up to 12 years assuming he's lead a blame free life since coming out he might be considered low risk?

I forgot about Percy. She treated him like a fool too. As I said, not a nice lady.

Re: Ed. I think he has shifted from being a man who wanted forgiveness from his victim (Emily) to being a pest now/borderline stalking. Despite my feelings for Emily (being a rude and obnoxious woman) if I was her, I would be calling the police by now.

Also, has Eileen lost her mind? No WAY would I ever date a man who had murdered someone! 😱

Yes and that's understandable he should have just.backed off
With Eileen though I think she's fallen for the man he is now. not who he was ,he's been very honest now about what happened

But I agree most people wouldn't contemplate dating him despite how much he's changed

And now they're done anyway! Eileen has realised that Ed is never going to stop badgering Emily, and has dumped Ed. He said as much. He said he NEEDS Emily to forgive him, to enable him to 'move on with his life.' And it looks like he going to continue hounding her.

But as I said earlier, it's already getting to the point of stalking and harassing now. Even Eileen told him to stop as he is scaring Emily. When is he going to stop?

Also, I don't believe Ed loves Eileen, or her him. They've only been dating for about a month! I've had yogurts in my fridge longer than that!

Yes ,but he,s terrified of losing Joshua ,no excuse of course I think he's taking it out on poor claire because she's there .

I didn’t like that either, none of this is Claire’s fault and it’s like he’s forgetting she’s pregnant and doesn’t need any stress. Also, isn’t Joshua 4? I know biologically Matt is the father but he’s never been in Josh’s life so what rights does he really have?

I'm pretty sure that Ashley is on the birth certificate too, not Matt Ramsden.

I don't think he has any rights
He would have to go to court and get parental responsibility he might get some access but I don't think a judge would uproot a four year old from the only family he's ever known?

And if the poster is correct and Ashley is on the certificate then Matt has even less rights. He’s a bit delusional and I liked it when Audrey gave him a slap
