Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

Well everyone knows about that (or at least Kevin does) so wouldn’t work very well as blackmail!

Well that was what the doctor suggested wasn’t it? And Sally having none of it. Makes no sense!

Whoops, I thought Kevin was in the dark about the exact nature of Sally's affair, shocking memory of the exact storyline. I wouldn't make a good blackmailer by the looks of things 🤦‍♀️

I think he just decided to pretend it didn’t happen! Not sure he knows all the ins and outs (as it were).

I’m confused about registering births ( never done it)
If Dev could just turn up and register 2 babies couldn’t anyone do that with made up name/ date and place of birth?

Because they’re married, that’s why he could do it I think whereas if they weren’t, only Sunita could have registered the birth. I’ve never registered a birth either but that’s my limited understanding from mumsnet lol

Yes it's because they are married
In the case of unmarried parents only the mother can register the birth or both parents but the father can't register the baby on his own
I registered both my boys I can't quite remember now aa they are 18 and 14!
But I.think.i had paperwork from the maternity ward to take with me 🤔

RIP Tony Slattery, whose death was announced today. I’d completely forgotten he’d been in Corrie, and it has been a pleasure to see him again as Eric in the last couple of weeks

Thanks for the info on registering births @x2boys and @JewelleryCat I thought there must be something from a hospital or midwife to say a baby had actually been born. Otherwise anyone could rock up, say I had a baby last week, its name is xyz and could then claim benefits, I suppose.

I don’t remember the first time round, how awful Danny was to Mike, with his scheming. It’s sad watching Mike’s decline, and Danny is making me angry

I never saw any of the Bradley Walsh episodes , his character is quite awful but Leanne is even worse.
I thought Ed was a bit sus. But loving Rob Hollins as a reformed criminal 😁

I haven’t seen these either. Leanne is shocking! As is Jason. Don’t know what either Violet or Sarah see in him (well I do! But he’s being a right knob).

Yeah I don't get what sarah and violet see in jason ,he's undoubtedly a good looking lad but not much else tbh

Leanne was a nasty piece of work back in those days, they played up her Battersby credentials a lot so it’s no surprise she’s in it for what she can get. I don’t remember Danny being like this, I remember him being the cheeky cockney wide boy but maybe I am mixing him up with his game show persona. Jason was a good looking lad but Violet was a smart clever enlightened young woman, I can see Sarah going goggle eyed for him but not Violet.

Violet annoyed me today. Ranting on and on at Sunita, because Sunita was thinking of going back to Dev. Why is Violet so invested in Sunita and her life, and her relationship with Dev? She barely knows her! I know Violet is meant to be this feisty, strong, independent young woman, but quite honestly she comes across as bolshy and opinionated and a bit annoying (to me.)

I’m not sorry to see the back of Sunita she’s been screaming at Dev which at the time of airing, must have been for months.

Yeah and the trembly lip thing she does she,s very irritating.

Becky! Ooh she was absolutely awful to start off with. I remember her so fondly but she really started off as vile until they realised what a great actress she was. Violet sticking her oar in? Why?

Evening all. I've just watched the one with Phil terrorising David and I wondered if I'd missed the episode where David trapped Phil's hand in a car door? Was this broadcast? Sometimes I feel a sort of disconnect as if I've not watched an episode (& they're talking about stuff I have no recollection of)

Yes last week sometime David made it out to be a joke that went wrong and phil went along with it as he's has a few run ins with David behind Gail's back..
