Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?) Grin

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread. Smile

I too thought Hayley had made the bra because she said something about it taking all night.

SabreIsMyFave · 06/01/2025 23:11

Yes, Hayley did make the bra. Smile

Me and DH nearly had a row about Gail slapping David today. I felt so sorry for him and thought it wrong of Gail to slap his face.
DH thought David had provoked Gail to this extreme thing. (I don't blame Sarah for thinking David deserved it as she is a child and he's her brother, no love lost between siblings of that age)
Anyway, I remember watching this the first time round and perhaps being so annoyed with David, but I can see things from his perspective now I'm older and with the benefit of hindsight.

David's behaving terribly but Gail.has brought some very unsuitable men into his life, one tried ti kill him and phil had him against a wall
And his Dad's choice of girlfriends didn't help school girl Katy for example .

thenightsky · 08/01/2025 10:35

Blanche was on top form in that last episode! Grin

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 08/01/2025 19:06

Wasnt that Eva as the nurse talking to Dev in the hospital?

thenightsky · 08/01/2025 22:21

Eva! Yes, It was her. Wasn't she Leanne's half sister?

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 08/01/2025 22:23

Yeah same mum. Think they had a row over Nick also!

SabreIsMyFave · 08/01/2025 22:35

Yes, that was Eva (Cath Tyldesley.) As the midwife.

She comes in Corrie (as Eva) in 2011. Smile

I really hope Dev and Sunita make up soon! Them and the twins all smiley after the birth was cute!

Sally has just caught Rosie and Craig half dressed again, hauled Rosie off down the street. Not 100% sure of how law is enforced but couldn’t she report Craig to police as Rosie is 15? I’d have thought the threat would be enough to scare him off.

They are both 15 so both would be guilty of having sex with a minor ,Craig being a male doesn't make him more culpable
But at that age the police are not interested in prosecuting two underage consenting teens the law is to protect vulnerable teens from predatory adults not to punish randy teenagers

YourHappyJadeEagle · 09/01/2025 16:25

Thanks @x2boys . I didn’t think the police would do anything, just thought my reaction might have been to threaten Craig/Rosie/both with police to scare them off underage sex.

SabreIsMyFave · 09/01/2025 21:55

I am not a 'cool' parent (much) and AFAIK my 2 DD never had sex whilst under 16 (AFAIK!) But I think the reaction to what Rosie and Craig are doing is a bit OTT and over dramatic. They are both 15. And 15 year olds do have sex.

They are all acting like Craig is 23 and Rosie is 12 or something. It's not ideal -but the drama around it, and Sally acting like Rosie is ruining her (Sally's) life by having sex with her boyfriend of the same age, is ridiculous IMO.

Also, I also absolutely LOATHE Carol (Danny Baldwin's ex) and think she is a vile, irritating character, and I wish she would leave.

And Keith (who Audrey is 'dating') is supremely annoying IMO. He is just so tedious and boring and tight-fisted. I know people have different opinions on this, but I find a man who penny pinches deeply unattractive and unappealing. I would rather be alone for life than settle for a man like this.

And I really don't think Audrey would go for a man like this. She is quite materialistic and likes the finer things in life. She would never go for a man who penny pinches, and uses 2 for 1 vouchers at a restaurant's 'happy hour' between 4pm and 6pm when the meals are cheaper.

@SabreIsMyFave I understand what you're saying about Audrey and tight fisted Keith. But I really like money saving ideas and meal deals and would be impressed by his thrift.
We're all different I suppose, me and my daughter have competitive cost cutting measures which we proudly share on our family WhatsApp.
But I am not tight with money when it comes to my loved ones and always happy to help them. We don't ever overspend at Christmas though.

OCaledonia · 09/01/2025 22:09

Blanche was singing the praises of Rolf Harris in today's episode.
Poor Eccles dog, she wouldn't be able to stay there if she really was biting Ken.

A man like Keith wouldn't appeal to me at all. I do like saving money with shopping etc, and I like money saving ideas, but I see it as penny pinching when a man is trying to find cheapo ways to take you on a date. Tight-fistedness is grossly unattractive in a male suitor IMO.

JMO. Each to their own. Smile

I noticed the Rolf Harris mentions today! It was Jimmy Saville a few weeks back. Jeeez who is next? Gary Glitter?! 😬

Sally is behaving appallingly. I don’t have kids so don’t know how j would react in this circumstance but surely losing the plot and locking Rosie up isn’t going to solve anything???

thenightsky · 10/01/2025 15:48

Sally is behaving pretty much how my own mother behaved. I was guilty until proven innocent in her eyes. Boys equalled inevitable pregnancy and ruined lives. It just taught me how to be a good liar really.

A more sensible reaction would be to get her on reliable contraception.

JewelleryCat · 10/01/2025 16:50

Sally has never had sensible reactions though lol

I don’t necessarily see Keith as tight fisted. I just think he’s not very well off. He’s unexpectedly looking after and paying for a teenager on his pension.

I agree. I was shocked at her forcing the morning-after pill onto Rosie. Despicable behaviour. And as I said earlier in the thread, this is all a HUGE overreaction from her. Putting Rosie on the pill is a much better idea. She is clearly not going to stop seeing Craig (or having sex with him.)

In my experience, women who are very judgemental, and accuse younger women and girls of being trashy, and call them nasty names for having sex outside marriage with boys/men, and/or having a different bloke every few weeks, were often very promiscuous themselves as a younger woman...

Well Sally is hardly a paragon of virtue herself
Just a few short months ago she was shagging ian and using condoms

OCaledonia · 11/01/2025 11:53

@x2boys I keep expecting Rosie to blurt out about Sally's affair with Ian, pretty sure I would if someone was exerting so much control over me. Or use it as a means of trying to bring back control myself (blackmail I suppose)
