Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

I think it will be Christmas on Classic Corrie on the telly soon. They are in mid November (2005) right now. They're still wearing poppies! They seem to have been wearing them for about a month now! I think I saw someone wearing one some weeks back - maybe Mike Baldwin - and the date broadcast turned out to be 16th October. Today's was 14th November, and they're still wearing them!

Looking at Martin now with his new girlfriend, makes me realise that the Katy storyline was forgotten as soon as it happened. Angela presumably still in prison although I thought they were exhuming the body for evidence that would get her off? Martin shed a tear or two for Katy and that was that. Would have been much more of a meaningful storyline if he had been more affected by it.

I can’t understand how the teacher is not seeing HUGE red flags with Martin. A teenage girlfriend who ended up killing her dad and committing suicide? Then upping and leaving his children after a couple of weeks in a new relationship! I was chuffed for candice though hairdresser to the faded stars!

Yeah that's what annoyed me ,I realise it was rushed because ot was his leaving storyline ,but she's been dead barely six months, and he said she was the one ,and surely Craig and his Grandad would feel it was very sudden?

She said something about the relationship with the schoolgirl bothering her but that all seems to be forgotten now 🤔
But yeah you would think she would be horrified by it.

Also, Martin keeps talking about coming back to see David, but isnt he Sarah’s adopted dad? The only dad she’s known?

He adopted Nick and Sarah and he said David was the only son he ever had
Although tbf ,Nick was about ten and remembered Brian.

Seems a bit unfair on Sarah that he clearly doesn’t treat her as his own, that’s what adoption is about

Yeah she never called him Dad and she was only about two when Gail and Msrtin got together so she wouldn't have remembered Brian really
Tracy has always called Ken Dad and she was quite a bit older when he adopted her .

So Gail has got Phil staying overnight and having breakfast with them all after what, 2nd night? a week? Not sure of timelines for old episodes but it's surely not appropriate!

I didn’t know Dev had all these other kids.Vaguely remember Amber working in his Corrie shop at some time. Do Asha and Adi know about these half siblings?

I don’t watch modern Corrie anymore but I remember a few years ago were was a storyline about what aadi was going to inherit, house or shop etc. no mention of the other kids!

Yes I thought the same, I know David's storyline develops in a certain way (I don't want to spoil things for those who don't know/remember). I think Gail is behaving completely inappropriately, too.

I remember Amber's face but nothing else about her and definitely don't remember all the children coming out of the woodwork!

I do remember the scenes where it came out about Dev having kids with all the other female shop managers. But I can't remember any of these kids ever appearing, apart from Amber.

Amber was feisty I think? The other kids were invisible. But a lot of vanished kids in corrie. Ken was good at disappearing children.

Why is Tracy being mean towards Claire?

You’ve got to hand it to Dev, that man can dig a hole. Could he have said any more wrong phrases —- the other children were a mistake, he’s blanked it out so they don’t exist 🤢 He probably sells condoms in his shops.

I remember the kids coming out of the woodwork the first time round. However I thought it was Maya that found out about them and that's the reason why she blew up all the shops.

Memories are a funny thing.

Just looking at the Streetcars cabs, and wondering if anyone has been obsessed enough to have tried ringing their number. If so, what does it connect to?

@AuntieStella funny you should mention that, but I lived somewhere once and the phone number started 715 ( I can remember the whole number and it differed on the end, also wasn't a Manchester dialling code either) and I often wondered if someone in real life had that number. Imagine not because it would've been a pain in the arse.
