Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

Not that you had to live in Manchester to do that, but it amused me at the time imagining how funny it would be if street cars would come and pick me up. Oh the joys of student days!

I imagine it's 0161 as that's the Manchester dialling code .

Martin’s exit storyline seemed rushed, and his dead fiancée was glossed over. I think a job opportunity/fresh start in Liverpool would have been more realistic for the character than a love interest.

I think his approach to Sarah was different because she’s an adult, I think in those circs you would worry more about the impact on minor kids than grown ones. Also, she was wholly and genuinely supportive when he told her and Gail of his plan so there was nothing to be concerned about really.

The whole job transfer annoyed me too the way he said he had a six month secondment ,it just doesn't work that way ,its a completely different trust so he would have had to apply to a hospital trust in Liverpool and have an interview etc and it would take at least 3 months if successful to start a new position and he would have had to work his notice
I know it's not real and I shouldn't think to deeply but its irritating when they don't even try to understand the procedure.

Tracy's comments about Claire dressing like a care bear and being part of 'Claire in the community' cracked me up

add to that Gail's comments to Sarah saying she can’t do without sex and how she should be good at it as she's been doing it since she was 13 😁

Yes. The comments to Sarah were true though. I'd forgotten what a little madam and troublemaker she was back then.

Tracy was absolutely vile to Claire though.

I don't find Tracy luv amusing, I think she's an horrific bitch and needs pulling up for her dreadful outbursts.

Ah but there are so many people, like Claire and even Deirdre that pull up Tracy love for her behaviour that let’s us see her for who she is

I wish they’d end the horrible boxing story.

OMG I can't remember Ashley ending up blind in one eye after a punch from someone.

I hope he gets his sight back in that eye!

Poor Frankie. I felt so sad for her in the rovers, she has done nothing wrong, carol is a nasty piece of work, Danny has ripped her world apart and is flaunting Leanne in her face. There was no need for him to make out that Jaime thought Frankie was sad and pathetic, his dad slept with his Fiancé repeatedly and he’s been trying to look after Frankie. It made me really cross.

If Kevin’s hands were covered in grease ( I’m assuming it was car grease !) how did he drive there , or even open a car door if Sally drove?
Shows what a difference 20 years makes. We’d have googled their address , looked at it on Streetview and found what they paid for it on Zoopla. 😀
And googled him, found where he worked and probably read his profile on LinkedIn.

OK Kevin owns the garage but it's only a small garage and he has to pay himself and two employees and Sally must be on minimum wage.

Agree re the school. Although I remember when they were considering sending her in the first place and the fees were quoted as about 3k per term or something like that, so an awful lot less than they’d be now!!

And even 9 grand / year s a big stretch on their.earnings.

I really REALLY don't like Keith. Something very offputting about a tight fisted man who penny pinches. Not saying I want a man to keep me/pay for everything, but a penny pinching Scrooge type skinflint would leave me cold.

The thought of him and Audrey bumping nasties makes me nauseous! 😖

Well I agree about him and Audrey.havinfg sex it's not something I want to think about 🤣 but I do feel quite sorry for him I know he's miserly but he's taken on Craig which can't be easy at his time of life plus he's lost his grand daughter ( although that seems to be forgotten) and his daughters in prison it can't be easy!
I bet he's one of those people who when he dies you discover he's stashed away ££££s,s

Poor Craig. This storyline makes me feel so sad poor lad. Mum in prison, Dad and sister dead.

I know poor lad and now his Grandad and Audrey are trying to make out him and Rosie are stupid and irresponsible ok they are both underage but They are using contraception I'm. Not advocating under age sex but They are behaving far more resposibleythan Sarah ever did

And no-one seeming to understand how desperately unhappy he is.

(Too invested in a soap I know but ..!)
