Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?) Grin

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread. Smile

Leanne and Danny are just awful. Hope they get caught soon. I went to live in Aus in July 2005 so stopped watching around now for a year or so. Although doesn’t seem like I missed much.

MatchingBedding · 10/10/2024 12:52

God the Misogyny! Danny and his Nick names for the girls and disgusting language about “tarts” and “bunk ups”. What’s his faces mother calling Liz a cheap floozy! God forbid an older woman could just be normal instead of a vicious old woman! Dev and his wanting a boy (although that is gentle banter I suppose).
Anyway, the Leanne and Danny storyline is nasty. Poor Frankie and Jamie. I also think they keep Janice’s wig in the kennels, it’s like a helmet.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 10/10/2024 15:45

Omg what fresh hell is this? Liz posing for photos with props and sleezy photographer bf 🤮

SabreIsMyFave · 11/10/2024 20:41

I agree about Leanne and Danny. Grim as F. Danny is punching well above his weight with Frankie. What does she see in him?! 😖

Leanne looks 30 years younger than Danny. They look ludicrous together. She looks 19 and he looks 50. Shock

Poor Vera! Left Jack as he treats her like shit, and he doesn't care. WTF?! Confused

Also, I am SICK of bloody, bloody, bloody Shelley. She is absolutely pathetic! And Charlie is an utter twat! When is this storyline going to end FFS?! Hmm

Yes he's vile I can't beleive this was only 20 years ago with the stupid nick names ,but Danny and Mike have always had a terrible attitude to their employees, they don't seem to think. the law applies to them and they can do what they want

Leanne pisses. Me off she's like the cat that got the cream. No idea what Frankie sees a
in Danny ,she's fat more beautiful than Leanne imo
And yes I'm well over shelley and Charlie she's annoying the hell out of me and whilst Charlie is a fab actor I just want to punch him.

FlibbertyGibbitt · 12/10/2024 10:09

Was going to catch up on itvx today and the episodes have gone 😩😩😩

HurdyGurdy19 · 12/10/2024 10:58

I don't get Charlie. Does he actually love Shelley or is she just a plaything for him to manipulate? I do understand coercive control, so it's a wider question really, re those who practice CC, I suppose. Do they love their victims, or is it always just a power thing without emotions?

But Shelley - omg, enough! How on earth is she still employed? Surely Fred would have had enough of it by now, especially bearing in mind, this is 20 years ago, and mental health issues weren't taken as seriously as they are now, and no concessions would be made for this.

The employers on the Street, both in Classic Corrie and Modern Day Corrie just fire, rehire, refire, rehire on repeat and at will. Adam Barlow could be absolutely RAKING it in now, if he represented all these employees who are being so appallingly treated by their employers.

Shellingbynight · 12/10/2024 13:42

I don't think Charlie loves anyone but himself! And he clearly hates women in general. He was very well written but the Shelley storyline went on far too long, I thought it ruined her character.

MatchingBedding · 16/10/2024 11:40

Do we finally think that the councillor has got Charlie’s number? Side note I loved it when Rita sat up and scared them all half to death!

HurdyGurdy19 · 16/10/2024 15:08

The counsellor is certainly giving the impression of knowing exactly what Charlie is up to.

I can't remember the outcome of this storyline, or if Charlie and Shelley do end up married. Looking forward to the storyline unfolding further.

Yep! The Counsellor knows what Charlie is like I reckon! And that is why Charlie is trying to sack him off! The Counsellor can see through him. People like him are trained to see through people like Charlie, and spot the danger signs in people (and their relationships.)

I also LOLd a bit when Rita sat bolt upright @MatchingBedding Grin

I agree about Shelley! She is just bloody annoying now. She was a strong confident sassy woman. Or maybe this is what happens when a woman gets into a relationship with an abusive man: he breaks her down. I am fortunate to have not been in a long term relationship with a man like this. So I don't know for sure. I would imagine this is the case.

I really don't know. I think on some level they love the person they're controlling, but the power and coercive control and the need to dominate the other person takes over I think. This 'I want you I'll look after you' - then 'you're a stupid fat lazy cow' thing that's going on is confusing.

Shellingbynight · 16/10/2024 16:05

@SabreIsMyFave ISTR that at the time the Charlie storyline was billed as being about how even a strong confident woman can be coercively controlled and abused. But I never thought Shelley was that strong to start with, her main identifying point was always choosing the wrong man! And unfortunately by this point she is really annoying. (I do remember how it ends, it’s quite satisfying!)

The interesting thing with Charlie is that he sticks around after Shelley, I think he goes out with Maria, and then of course Tracy. I can't stand Tracy in 2005, but I like her nowadays.

thenightsky · 16/10/2024 17:11

I'm sure he said to Jason a few weeks ago, just in passing conversation, that he'd keep Shelley on until he no longer found her entertaining.

x2boys · 16/10/2024 20:55

Charlie has a very warped way of thinking in his mind he probably does think he loves her,he's spent a fortune on cosmetic surgery and is financing her therapy
Buti its all about control
And he's not impressed that the therapist basically told him to but out

SabreIsMyFave · 16/10/2024 21:19

On another note, re the bloke that's 'dating' Audrey (Keith is it? Katie and Craig's grandad?) Is he broke, or just really tight-fisted? He keeps trying to get cheap meals and freebies, and doesn't want to do anything that he can't get change of a fiver from!!!

OP posts:
x2boys · 17/10/2024 03:26

Tbf I feel quite sorry for him
He must be in his 70,s he's trundling along in life
And out of the blue his grand daughter murders her dad ,his daughter gets sent to prison, his grand daughter. Dies and hes left to pick up the pieces, it can't be easy?

OCaledonia · 17/10/2024 21:49

@SabreIsMyFave I think Keith is just a canny Yorkshire man watching his money.
(It amazes me how everyone is in the pub every day and then they say they are broke )

DirtyDensDog · 21/10/2024 16:13

Can anyone tell me what series number this classic Corrie is please.

Not sure what's going on with my itvx app, it's just a whole list of series numbers and I can't find the current episodes that are on itv3 2.30 and 3 o'clock every week day.

Usually when I go on the itvx todays episodes are just there with no searching.

TealAndTurquoise · 21/10/2024 16:19

@DirtyDensDog it's series 46. There are loads of other series listed as they're showing classic episodes from different years. Today's episodes are showing for me.

DirtyDensDog · 21/10/2024 16:46

Thank you so much @TealAndTurquoise

Another day, another reason to hate Tracey and dierdre. How dare Tracey have such a go at her mum for letting Steve look after Amy, when she abandoned her with dierdre fully knowing she had to get back to work? And dierdre is such a wet blanket apologising for it. I can’t stand them

Allthehorsesintheworld · 24/10/2024 15:49

I’m not surprised Tracey was so awful , Deirdre treads on eggshells around her, doesn’t want to upset her and just reinforces her awful behaviour.
Does anyone know why the Janice actor shaved her head?

I think Janice - actress Vicky Entwistle - actually had a condition that caused hair loss at the time. She'd been wearing a wig for a while. If you could look back, you'd actually be able to tell it was a wig ...

I think she must have got a bit sick of it. So she just went for the hair shaving storyline.

I also am absolutely sick of Tracy, who is a horrible, narcissistic, and sociopathic bitch. And her wet blanket of a mother enabling her is almost as bad. I wish Steve would get custody of Amy.
