Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?) Grin

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread. Smile

I also had no memory of Harry. I do vaguely remember Scooter, and remembered the Harris family storyline and Mel Hutchwright.

I remember the Baldwin family, but don't remember sleazy Danny/Leanne, nor Carol. I am "looking forward" to the Danny/Leanne outcome having read posts upthread about it.

I am "enjoying" the Charlie/Shelley storyline, because it is so awful. I remember the storyline in general but a lot of his specific actions have had me gasping out loud.

I wonder how long it is until Candice's exit. I remember that as being a bit of fun.

ImNotThereAmI · 01/09/2024 12:24

I’m struggling to understand how I remember the Harris storyline clearly but have absolutely no recollection of Tracy’s dad when these two storylines happened at the same time. Also really remember Leanne and Danny etc really well but don’t remember Mel hitchwright at all. I guess I remember the storylines I found interesting at the time

Allthehorsesintheworld · 02/09/2024 15:15

It’s all getting a bit incestuous. Danny and Leanne is bad enough but Frankie and Jamie’s interactions look creepy to me. How old is he supposed to be, not 15/16 so not afirst girlfriend breakup. all a bit 🤮

I'm the same, I was actually worried by how much stuff I had forgotten. I thought it was just me, glad to see others are experiencing the same selective memory.

I remember Ian McKellen being in it as Mel Hutchwright but don't remember Penny or Scooter. I also forgot that Katie died.

@CorporaINobbyNobbs --same here I forgot about Ray Langton and Tracey & Steve.

I do remember Penny quite well, and I also remember Katie dying - but DH didn't remember either one! And as I said, there's quite a bit I forgot! 😬

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 02/09/2024 15:53

Oh I also remember Mel Hutchwright too. Vile article! 😖 But I do not remember Charlie and Shelley together. I only remember Charlie with TracyLuv.

The way Charlie is with Shelley is really quite traumatising and triggering for any woman who has ever been with a man like Charlie. Shock

HurdyGurdy19 · 02/09/2024 16:56

ha ha - watching episode 1 today and there is a scene where Sean is wafting a feather duster around the sewing machines in the factory and humming. The subtitles say "Anthony hums". Ooops!

TennisWithDeborah · 02/09/2024 17:09

Ian McKellen has been fabulous but I’m not certain that Norris, who was wise to Richard Hillman, would have been taken in by Mel. And it’s out of character for Roy, too, who is not even a fan of the books.

It is funny that Liz seems to have dropped out of Book Group after two sessions though 😆

Bill Ward and Sally Lindsay are nailing this storyline. I used to think that Sally L could only do comedy but she does “affronted and defensive” really well too. Bill is amazing. At the time I was frustrated with Shelley but with the benefit of maturity I can understand now how these appalling men operate and that it’s not her fault at all. Great research and scripts from the writers.

Gosh that is a shock that Diggory is not even 40. He looked 60 as you said!

Fun fact - and I hope this is not too much of a spoiler - Diggory is the father of Molly Dobbs who comes in to Classic Corrie soon. She ends up dating Tyrone!

Auntie Pam arrives via Diggory too I think? She looked like a blonde Cherie Blair. I recall her delivering sandwiches in a big basket.

Can’t believe the Diggory actor is only 7 years older than Simon Gregson!

Edited

Ooooh I had forgotten all about her. Had to google her to refresh my memory of who she was!

She's in it for about 130 episodes.

i remember the Charlie and Shelley story really well - but again can’t remember anything about Diggory! I went to Australia for a year in June 2005 so I think some of the episodes coming up will be new to me.

in other news I am going to Manchester for the weekend and am booked on the Corrie tour. Very excited!!

Me too

I thought Ray's death was much later

I think a number of the storylines are becoming pretty dire now - I fast forwarded through all the later parts of Sally and that horrible boss (dull, repetitive, and a sign of how Corrie will become a pale imitation of its former self). Also, it's the start of only having a few characters' storylines developed per episode, then they vanish for a while and pop up again out of nowhere. If you think back to the way it was before about 2000, everyone was more present and you saw them in the pub or a shop or Roys with something to say in nearly every episode

FlibbertyGibbitt · 03/09/2024 18:21

Ooooohhhhh Schmicheal ☹️

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 04/09/2024 16:43

I think Cilla has gone a bit overboard with the sunbed! 😂

I really miss the way Corrie used to be, major characters milling around in the background, characters interacting with each other, no major storylines just day to day realism, the show is a shadow of its former self, sad times.

Did Adam finish school before he returned to the street? Just wondering how he managed to fit in university and do law exams before being a qualified solicitor in just a few years or maybe he was fast tracked like DeeDee!

He dropped out of the posh Scottish boarding school a couple of episodes ago.

From what I remember, his route to becoming a solicitor was via dodgy, cheating ways and means.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 05/09/2024 11:30

I thought that was Todd thenightsky?

Adam leaves in a couple of years as far as I remember and then comes back as a lawyer years later.

thenightsky · 05/09/2024 11:35

Ah yes, I might be mixing up him up with Todd.

BrennieGirl · 05/09/2024 18:24

Is anyone else having problems watching on the ITV website?

Allthehorsesintheworld · 06/09/2024 13:06

No, I managed to catch up on ITVX last night early hours of the morning as I can’t bloody sleep.
Not seen any of these storylines right through to about May 2007 as lived in ME and only had very weird television.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 06/09/2024 15:46

Was there some missing? Today Sunita’s telling Dev she’s pregnant and Shelley’s mum storms in —- no mention of either of these events yesterday.

I thought Sunita told Dev she was pregnant yesterday with her bun in the oven comment and Shelley’s mum stormed in yesterday also after she got called. Deirdre and Liz were waiting for her at the Rovers

Allthehorsesintheworld · 06/09/2024 17:38

That’s strange —- I’ll have to skim through yesterdays, those two things passed me by.
