Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

Yeah I normally can’t bear Cilla but her and the colleague shouting at each other in different languages is very funny.

IIRC Cilla and her boss ended up understanding each other perfectly 😆

Wendi Peters is fab.

She is great but the repetitive storylines just get to me. Oh they’ve abandoned Che’s again yawn.

I almost felt sorry for Sally today, until she was so cruel to poor Rita. 'You've never had a family' just because she's never had her own bio children. How vicious.

Sally is just awful. Refusing to recognise to gail that it was her affair that led to Tommy and Katie dying (and yes I know she can’t be held responsible for that) and her complete denial that anything bad could come from this affair while she was in the throes of it. And now the blatant lying to Kevin (he’s cheated before so…) and how she treated Rita. Also how Rosie is now having to be involved. When will people on soaps learn than an affair never leads to anything good!!

I agree! ^ She was so nasty to Rita. Yet Rita came around to Sally with an olive branch. I'd have disowned her as a friend for what she said 'you have no family, so you have nothing to lose!' Vile.

Also I am finding Shelley so infuriating at the moment. She was a strong feisty young woman, and she has turned into a pathetic wet lettuce, and not seeing the flaws and evilness in Charlie. I know it's classic abuser-behaviour to try and cause rifts between their victim and their victim's loved ones, and isolate them from everyone they're close to, but Shelley is just soooooooo annoying! She is being nasty too! To poor Sunita, and Betty and Keiran. I loved Fred giving her a right Royal rollicking though. 😆

Mike seems to be showing signs of early onset dementia. He keeps forgetting stuff.

I have never understood why Rita is so good to Sally she gave them five grand at one point for no real reason
Around the same time when Jenny who was like a daughter to her asked her for some money to fund something, she sent her away with a cheque for £1000,and told her never yo darken her door again or words to that affect .

Rita has pretty much always treated Sally and Kevin like son and daughter in law, and their kids like grandkids. As I said, the way Sally spoke to her was vicious. Sally doesn't deserve anything from Rita! Also, it seems that Kevin secretly knows about Sally's affair with that vile slimy pig Ian, but is this it? Is he going to let it go and never mention it again?

Also, I saw on today's episode, that Jim Macdonald has got another two years in prison - and Liz has just about had enough of him and she's finished with him. I wonder if she's actually told him though...? I don't think that came to light in today's episode.

AND I am so glad that bloody awful Mel Cartwright. has been outed as a scammer. Good for Ken for rumbling him. He was horrible to Ken wasn't he? Saw him as a threat I think. I didn't see him (Mel) give Roy his money back - or all the other people their cheques back ... Did he? Did anyone see him give them their money and cheques back...?

I think Ian McKellen is a wonderful actor, but his character there was an absolutely vile, horrible, slimy, creepy bastard!

I actually rewound that bit HeySummer as I thought he hadn’t given the money back. But he did. Blanche asked for it and he reached in his pocket and then you saw her holding the money and cheques briefly.

Awww thank you. I never noticed that. I figured Mel should have/would have given the money and cheques back, because they would have definitely called the police otherwise. I just didn't see it happen.

And yes to Danny and Leanne. Very tedious. And a bit repugnant. He is 45 (and looks 50 IMO,) and she is 23 (and looks 18!) He looks like her dad! 😖

I hope this stops now. It's a bit grim. Especially as Leanne is his SON'S GIRLFRIEND!

Hmmm, I have always watched Corrie (since the mid 1970s,) but there are blocks, and certain storylines that I have forgotten. eg I didn't remember Harry who worked behind the bar - who left some half a year ago I think...... Or the goofy guy Sarah has been dating. (Scooter.) And they were in it for quite a number of episodes Harry was in it for many months, but I do not remember him!

And so no I don't remember anything between Danny and Leanne at all. I guess it will come as a nice surprise! (Or not so nice!) 😆

It's strange what you remember and what you don't. I've watched it for years and years but completely forgot the Tommy death story. likewise some of the characters, like Scooter and Penny

I’ve never seen these episodes. Only just realised Adam Barlow in 2005 is the same actor as now.
I like Bradley Walsh as Danny though his character is grim. Serial adulterer.

Yeah I remember Scooter but not Harry. I remembered all of the Harris family storyline but nothing about Ray Langton and Tracey and Tracey and Steve getting together. Remember Mel Hutchwright also but not Penny and she’s in it for ages.

I'm the same, I was actually worried by how much stuff I had forgotten. I thought it was just me, glad to see others are experiencing the same selective memory.

I remember Ian McKellen being in it as Mel Hutchwright but don't remember Penny or Scooter. I also forgot that Katie died.
