She had a subclavian vein thrombus removed, there was a brief shot of the inside of her right arm that was very bruised, and you could see it was still a bit puffier than the left arm

PointerParty · 17/04/2024 06:58

Posted too soon!

When she puts on the beach hat you can see a big bruise and a dressing.

What is Tim's back story? I'm scared to Google. I'm glad Lucinda has decided she needs more. I hope they stay friends

I have believed for some time I am
in a DARVO relationship. I am now sat nearly crying. Because I can’t see that it’s not normal

Bless you @Itsrainingoverhere, stick around - you'll get amazing support from mumsnetters to get you through it and for when you are ready to make your escape. Xx

icelollycraving · 17/04/2024 07:18

Oh gosh I hadn’t read the full thread last night.
@browneyes77 im so sorry for the loss of your friend, have all the wine, chocolate and virtual hugs 💐
@Itsrainingoverhere the relationships board are very knowledgeable and supportive, you must feel unsettled. Sending you a big hug too.

Tempnamechng · 17/04/2024 07:21

I love Lauren's apartment.
I think I would have called the taxi back to the airport the minute I saw Tim's apartment. For a student or someone in their 20s, okay I guess, but for a man in his 40s it was embarrassing.

MaggieFS · 17/04/2024 07:21

@PointerParty Presumbly the backstory we've heard on the show? That his mum died some time ago and his brother took his own life that same year. His dad died six weeks before the show started and just before he died, he told Tim that he'd never liked him. Also he was brought up that expressing emotions was a sign of weakness and not something to do, which is why he gets so uncomfortable.

Personally, I wouldn't want anything else shared on a no spoilers thread, but I know people have slightly different views on that with regards to if it's more "background" than post-show.

tryingsomethingnew · 17/04/2024 07:31

Looking forward to seeing how Jack and Tori and the other two Deeec guy. Kind of have hopes for them.

Choux · 17/04/2024 07:32

For those asking about Tim there's a post at 23.10 last night with a link to a story. There are no spoilers about his MAFS time on the link but even if you don't click it the link name gives some insight to his background.

PointerParty · 17/04/2024 07:38

Thanks @MaggieFS I had somehow missed that his mum died by suicide. Poor Tim, that coupled with his Dad telling him he didn't like him right before he died is the ultimate abandonment. He's not ready for a relationship, he needs more support than one person can take on.

I would not have stayed at Tim's after I'd seen dog pee and raw chicken on the rug! Lucinda is a better woman than I am! I hope she finds someone amazing and stays close to Tim 🤞

PointerParty · 17/04/2024 07:39

@Choux thank you! I'll have a look

You're welcome. I think - but may be wrong - either we don't know how his mum died or it was in a car accident (have that in my head but could be miles off) - and it was then his brother who died by suicide in the same year.

awaynboilyurheid · 17/04/2024 09:03

Caught up, Lucinda def deserves better , it was a real penny drop moment when his friend said Tim is a protector and looks after people you could see Lucinda thinking he’s never ever done that for me. Felt sorry for her but had a wee smile when she packed up all the picnic stuff glasses and all then walked away, she’s was done! Tim doesn’t know what he’s just ruined Lucinda is such an insightful kind woman, the loss is all his.

burnoutbabe · 17/04/2024 09:09

The other issue with Tim is he is grieving so Lucinda is sort of stuck in that she can't shout at him to buck up or stop being a sad sack. As that would be nasty.

He should never have been on this show this year (at the very least)

NarwhalsJustDontLetEmTouchYourBalls · 17/04/2024 09:10

I feel sorry for Big Tim. I've read his background, and he has had a shit show of a life (some of it self inflicted TBH), but I'm done with him. I now turn my attention to Lucinda's welfare.

As soon as I heard his mate say that Tim likes to dote on a partner, likes to protect them, and I saw Lu's face, I knew it was over. What his friend really meant was that Tim likes young women (17-year olds apparently) who enjoy having a daddy pay for them and protect them, whilst Tim gets what he wants with a female who doesn't have the life experience to see him for what he is. A baggage handler for an A380.

Lucinda is so unbelievably cool, beautiful, joyous, intelligent, in touch with her emotions on a whole different level, calm, and nurturing. She deserves so much better. At this point I think Lu needs to send Tim an invoice for counselling services to date, since he has wasted her time so much.

That said, I predict a U turn from Tim, for more free counselling, as it is what HE needs. Also, look at his eyes when they talk or the experts talk to him. They say "I like her as a good mate, but I'm not into her sexually and I feel awkward".

Finally, Jaden. I am sitting here thinking that this is some kind of reverse manipulation, or gaslighting. He is actually quite manipulative and aggressive. He seems to be blaming Eden for everything, but then comes across as a bully on the couch to others. Just which one is he? Mr. Hurt by Eden controlling me, or a hypocrite, manipulating, bully who no one stands up to because they don't want to end up on the floor KO'd?

Italiangreyhound · 17/04/2024 10:03

Lucinda owed a do-over. She should get to come on again like Lizzie and John did... I think Timothy should never have been on this.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 17/04/2024 10:16

I hope Lucinda gets custody of the dogs. It looks like she could give them a lovely life in her beautiful house overlooking the ocean. I’d move in with her tomorrow.

Combattingthemoaners · 17/04/2024 11:12

Tim’s flat 🤢. Lucinda trying to stay non judgey wudgey was hilarious. I love her. She’s so kind, empathetic and beautiful. Old Tim’s walls are boring now, he can fuck off. Lucinda deserves to be treated like the absolute queen she is. It’s his loss!

Glazedchristmasham · 17/04/2024 12:08

@browneyes77 I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Much love to you and your friend's family 💐

Turtonator · 17/04/2024 12:13

I've been irritated by Lucinda and her constant "You're so brave / you're so amazing / you're such a great guy" etc, I almost feel she's talked herself into Tim the Elder actually being brave / amazing / great when he started off as a miserable git and is ending as a miserable git with a minor moment of "ah, I've been a miserable git and I must change" in the last few days. And couldn't change because frankly he's a miserable git all the way through. I think he'd have jumped for joy at a Tori. Previous thread on this someone had said he needed a female to down a few tinnies with and I agree! Someone he could have a laugh with, didn't take themselves seriously.

Lucinda's actual head wobble at Tim's friend saying Tim is a protector; she's nod-nod-nodding along and then there's the moment of - hold up! - and she's literally shaking her head as it drops that isn't the Tim she's been living with. Great bit of telly.

That apartment - oh my God! And TV genius showing clips of her apartment with the billowing curtains and floor cushions. No way you'd be sitting on Tim's pissy floor ...
An hour on his own turning into 7 hours with a mate drinking while she's home alone with his dogs.
Petition for Lucinda to have a do-over next season.

Glazedchristmasham · 17/04/2024 12:16

Having read Tim's backstory, I have some sympathy for why his Dad said he didn't like him very much. Feel really sorry for Lucinda being matched with him.

This year's contestants really are a messed up bunch; at this point I'm expecting the ever gorgeous Cass to be outed as a reformed serial killer that we haven't yet been told about! (<-- very much joking!)

Turtonator · 17/04/2024 12:28

I'm sticking my head above the parapet and saying I like Jayden.

Don't get me wrong. I'm completely sick about his confession re his now ex and the ultimatum he gave her (when she cheated on him and wanted to get back together again, the deal being he'd say yes if she got to watch him have sex with one of her friends, added for those who haven't seen earlier episodes / read earlier threads). He didn't force either women. All consenting adults etc although I'd say there was a strong element of control going on there. He didn't "make" the now ex watch, it was the deal, after she'd had sex with someone else, everyone knew (he said) and he was humiliated. It doesn't say how old he was at that time (or the other women). No making it right by any means -
but -
Jayden is very black and white, no grey areas.

You humiliate me / I'll humiliate you in the worst way I can imagine.
Sarah meeting with an ex and trash talking about Tim the younger, I can see that'd be a rage for him.

He is one of the youngest on there and I can see why he'd feel the need to talk to the ixperts, and to others, and get their perspective on things (especially with his need to control situations re above).

DaftFlerken · 17/04/2024 12:34

Really can't wait until I can google back stories etc of some of them, i'm so nosy

Umanresources · 17/04/2024 12:44

Was Jaeden selected so that Mitch could have extra time on MAFS? I laughed every time he was on, dispensing his solemn 'wise' words of wisdom.

I'm irritated by some of the brides and grooms (mainly old Tim) keep saying 'Yeah' constantly when there is a lull in the conversation/confessional. I noticed Eden, Jaeden and Lucinda doing it yesterday. Seems to be catching!

DaftFlerken · 17/04/2024 12:55

loved Lauren's apartment but not as much as Lucinda's - absolutely gorgeous

MaggieFS · 17/04/2024 12:56

Do over? Does that mean come back again? Have they done that before? (I only started watching last series).

Lucinda, Cass and the chap paired with the fruit loop (Ash?) all deserve one.
