It doesn't paint Aussie men in a certain way anymore than the Brit version represents British people

It's a TV entertainment show. It's not representative of real life

I really quite fancy old Tim. When he smiles his whole face lights up. He is also very kind to Tristan which I find most attractive

I see what you mean but I can’t get over him not brushing his teeth before bed 🤢

MagpiePi · 06/04/2024 16:55

One thing that I’ve just remembered- when they were at the retreat and calling Jack out for the whales comment and he was at first trying to say it was banter, he said something to Ridge that implied that Ridge was on his side but Ridge said ‘no mate, you’re on your own for this one’, which I thought was quite deeeece (sorry!) of him.

I really like Ridge. If you ignore the teenage boy sayings, he's actually quite caring. I hope it's genuine.

Agreed. He got a bad first edit but is actually really emotionally intelligent

Twonewcats · 06/04/2024 20:14

I feel like Ridge and has pals probably said deece 3 times or so, maximum, and the producers kept editing it in. Remember they already know what happens, so might have enjoyed creating the narrative.
And we don't actually know how "serious" they were being when they said it. Ie they might say it regularly but it all started as a joke/pisstake

icelollycraving · 06/04/2024 20:16

I think I’ve said it before but I also love a bit of Tim the Elder.

Anyone else having the weekly 'Bugger, it's not on tonight' moment?

LOL no, because I found the dailymotion.com site and I’m on episode 30 at the moment with home stays. I’m not commenting on the thread much as I don’t want to reveal anything by accident. Good to see other people’s comments though.

Tim the elder is actually really funny. Even if him and Lucinda don't work out, I think this has been really good for him. And hopefully Lucinda will have great career in the self help world as she's fab!

Hopefully Lucinda has now got hom trained up on that one!

Villagetoraiseachild · 06/04/2024 20:56

Also, if Lucinda and Lauren ran a women's retreat together, I'm in.
It would be better than stand up and therapy combined.

tryingsomethingnew · 07/04/2024 07:27

Thank you for the new thread. Hey!

Choux · 07/04/2024 08:55

How do you think Tim the Elder ended up on the show? I can see many of them being keen to be on it and applying for the fame / followers but not really Tim.

There must be scouts as well as an application process. I can imagine some of the cast being friends or family of or moving in the same circles as production staff members. But to find Tim were they scouting outside funeral homes and therapists' offices?

Someone said he has a beer to market and he wears t-shirts about it. I haven't noticed. He wore a Tiny's t shirt but is that his beer. I haven't googled as don't want to find spoilers. But even if he wanted to market his beer going on MAFS to do so doesn't seem like the obvious choice of tv show for a middle aged, emotionally closed guy.

That would be a killer combination of learning to become more zen and self aware and learning to speak up and not take any crap from people around you.

That eejit Jack has the air of a porn addled bloke about him.

I sometimes listen to the So Dramatic podcast and there is an episode that goes into all of the cast’s backgrounds. (Ep 344)
A lot of them were asked to join, and it is amazing how many of them have connections to other reality tv contestants.

KoolKookaburra · 07/04/2024 12:36

This thread title is wild! Is the show as wild?

murasaki · 07/04/2024 13:22

The title is a totally accurate representation of the last week or so.

Apart from the partridge.....

I'm sure someone has a tat of a partridge.

murasaki · 07/04/2024 14:13

Old Tim probably. Or maybe Tori.

I think it has something to do with his friends or maybe exes trying to get him out of his hole. I think he has likely been spiralling and they've suggested it to stop him chasing the 20yo's and he agreed because he realised he hasn't invested in any 1 person and is all alone now his parents have died. I think he sees he needs to grow up and settle down but it's not an overnight process for a life long bachelor.

Apparently some had previously applied for other reality shows by the same production company and then got approached for MAFS instead. Apologies if this is considered a spoiler!

Oh sara and the ex have not stopped hooking up since they broke up which I think I heard was 6 years ago!!! No moral compass and was brought down a peg to two tonight. She’s deeply unpleasant - she’d go well with red rat face!!!

I find it unbelievable that someone sleeping with their ex for years would actually apply to go on MAFS and would think that they would get away with going on dates with their ex whilst in the experiment? That's some level of narcissism tbh.
