Double bill next Saturday.

Hellocatshome · 17/03/2024 18:20

I was disappointed with Charliexit. I hope Zoe stays.

purpleme12 · 17/03/2024 19:00

She's not staying

EBearhug · 18/03/2024 10:45

I found it underwhelming.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/03/2024 12:13

Ffs. He's still alive

He will come back

They should have killed him off

JSMill · 18/03/2024 16:38

I'm glad they didn't kill Charlie off but I was disappointed in the ending. I wish they'd found to weave some of the early episodes into it. Casualty was so gritty back in those days. I'd have liked a reminder of them.

daffodilandtulip · 18/03/2024 16:45

Yes I thought that, there's so much old footage, there was no need to get someone to play him to make up a storyline.

FourLeggedBuckers · 18/03/2024 17:26

I wonder if they can use old footage, given that they’re being shown on UKTV (Drama? Play?) these days. Does selling the rights to show them mean they couldn’t use them? I have no idea, I’m just speculating.

I quite liked being underwhelmed by a gentle, positive departure for a change. Too much depressing, gritty tv around these days, and I get enough overwhelmingness in real life 😂

bizzey · 18/03/2024 18:07

At least he got a send off !
I was a bit "concerned" at one point that he would just walk out the doors ...with a whimsical look over his shoulder!😅

MoonWoman69 · 18/03/2024 18:09

I'm sure when he announced he was retiring from Casualty, in real life, there was a massive thing in the press that it was going to be a huge story line, one that people wouldn't see coming, he was going out with a bang... Well, I think that was a whimper more than anything. It all seemed rushed/hastily thrown together. And also totally unbelievable!
And it was also said that it would be in 2 years time! (This was last year sometime)
So I've no idea what happened there?

I think Casualty has lost its appeal over the last couple of years. I always watch it, but I'm always disappointed, because it's lacking something and I don't know what.

I'm really glad he didn't go out with a bang. I really wanted him to retire and not have some incredibly dramatic death.

Wonkypictureframe · 19/03/2024 09:40

I assume the bang was the accident in the first half. We don’t get many of those.

FourLeggedBuckers · 19/03/2024 11:30

The trouble with art (and I use the term very loosely, in the sense of all entertainment is art - even Gladiators or TOWIE or…) is that it’s subjective and everyone is looking for something slightly different from it. Or, you can’t please all the people, all the time.

I was thinking that Casualty has been in one of its better phases lately. Any long running show will wax and wane a bit, but there have been some strong storylines and some engaging cast members, and it’s generally been hitting the mark as much as it ever has, for me.

As much as I’ll expect to see Charlie popping up whenever DT gets bored, his exit was very much in the Casualty vibe. They do like the occasional soppy ending, between the miserable ones, and the daft “just walking out with no notice” exits. And we got a nice big explosion to start it all off. Classic Casualty.

EBearhug · 19/03/2024 11:38

And we got a nice big explosion to start it all off. Classic Casualty.

But it was also classic Casualty in that we started with a kid and a toy ambulance, and we thought he'd get run over, but he was merely the catalyst for all the drivers crashing into each other, and a drug dealer trying to escape, causing the explosion, rather than stories about the hospital staff.

Lookingatthesunset · 19/03/2024 11:52

benjoin · 18/03/2024 18:53

Surely the drama was him nearly dying? I think the low key exit was in keeping with his character.

I mean, I thought rather a lot of it was fixated on staff storylines (as, in my opinion, it always has been, and I’m fine with that), but yes - the kid and his toy ambulance was a lovely set up for a “it’s going to go bang but how?!” moment in the classic Casualty style.

AQuantityOfNaughtyCats · 23/03/2024 21:53

Agree that they should have used actual casualty footage for the flashbacks rather than the far fetched little stevie bollocks.

The whole program needs to go back to the wobbly ladder/stick caught in a combine harvester/abandoned factory patient centred story lines, no one cares about the staff dramas even if they are massively cheaper to film.

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 23/03/2024 22:38

Has anyone watched tonight? Who are all these people?! Did I blink and miss introductions 🤣

I feel I’ve jumped forward and missed 3 episodes or something

They always do that! It's so weird

UsernameChangerRanger · 23/03/2024 22:40

The new consultant is from Waterloo Road.

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 23/03/2024 22:41

Oh hang on there’s 2 episodes on iPlayer for the new series so potentially I have skipped one by accident 😳🙄🫣

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 23/03/2024 22:47

i am so confused - was it a double bill tonight? Or did I miss one last week?!

Anyway, I quite like new consultant - he’s all calm and measured a bit like Dylan.

Also brief explanation of why cousin is there, so that’s good.

🤣

LIZS · 23/03/2024 22:49

Double bill this evening

NameChangeAgain0224 · 23/03/2024 23:28

Double bill this evening and due to a comment the new Consultant made, it’s been over a month since Charlie left, hence the new faces.

I really enjoyed both episodes.

Except for Rida……I can’t put my finger on it but I just don’t like her character 🤷‍♀️
