When Rash is in such a state, why is the new consultant in charge encouraging him to go on the consultant path now?

UsernameChangerRanger · 23/03/2024 23:38

I really like Rida, she's grown on me.

WelcomeMarchwithwintrywind · 23/03/2024 23:38

He was like bribing him!
Like if you keep working cos we're so short of doctors I'll give you the consultant job!

WelcomeMarchwithwintrywind · 24/03/2024 00:17

Yes, it seemed that way to me. But, if the consultant keeps having to intervene, as tonight, then Rash isn’t that much help.

Presumably if Rash is in post there’s no chance of a replacement, but if he’s gone it’s possible. Are we meant to think the new consultant is a baddie?

purpleme12 · 24/03/2024 00:20

I don't think so

FourLeggedBuckers · 24/03/2024 00:33

New consultant is red flag bunting, imagine bribing a doctor who’s just had a fairly sizeable breakdown at work to come back against psych advice AND piling the pressure on with the consultant training 😳 Is he hoping to have the ED burned down entirely so he can have a shiny new one, or is he just a chaos demon in scrubs?!

Siobhan just gets more amusing though, she’s great.

purpleme12 · 24/03/2024 00:35

Even weirder when you consider he was the one who sent Rash to see a therapist and wanted her to report back on him!

FourLeggedBuckers · 24/03/2024 00:39

And on that note, get him to build a bit of a rapport with someone, open up, be a bit vulnerable, make progress… then… haha, nope, I’m not going to see you again, you can go through it all again with someone else!

Is that really a viable approach to dealing with trauma? It seems calculated to make him feel worse.

UsernameChangerRanger · 24/03/2024 03:19

It's a shame if they do a "nasty to nice" trope again.

AnImaginaryCat · 24/03/2024 08:59

The bit where Jacob ran from the ambulance to the hospital cracked me up. Shame surprised he didn't whip his top off to do it.

Do we know the newbies? Rash's arrogant and irksome cousin is just from Rash's dad's funeral isn't he? Not known before?

New consultant, Patrick, I feel like we are supposed to know. Was he is Holby?

Surrogate doctor we don't know I'm sure. Though I feel know her from something else. As I did BPD woman. So I'm doing the sensible thing and driving myself mad rather than look it up 😁

I always look forward to a double bill but that was a bit disappointing tbh. Felt like we had missed six episodes, Jacob stopping the ambulance and running off was stupid, and why have we got a new manager who is nasty?

I guess they are really going for it with the "theme" thing. Overdid the violence last series and now we're going to overdo "unsafe and underfunded" with ridiculous plugs smoking and loose wires.

purpleme12 · 24/03/2024 09:53

No we don't know the newbies.
They've done a new thing where they've just slotted them in this time.

Yes it was ridiculous Jacob running from the ambulance!

And yes it does seem like they have a theme and really ram it home!! I don't know why!

Although what new consultant did was iffy I don't think he's supposed to be nasty

UsernameChangerRanger · 24/03/2024 10:09

I wish they'd drop the politics. Yes we know the NHS is underfunded and understaffed, yes we know a&e staff deal with violent patients, but casualty is meant to be a bit of Saturday night fluff

purpleme12 · 24/03/2024 10:15

I have never thought of Casualty as Saturday night fluff!!

FourLeggedBuckers · 24/03/2024 10:49

I’m full of unpopular Casualty opinions. It’s always done NHS politics, underfunding and understaffing has been a Casualty staple for at least 25 years, it’s just getting ever more acute - in real life and fantasy land.

I also quite like the heavy handed themes they’ve adopted. I’m ever ok with it being a staff personal life based soap, and the more ridiculous it is, the more entertaining I find it.

But then, I’m here for the comedy, not real drama. Long live the bonkers plot lines and mediocre acting, I say 😂

spiderlight · 24/03/2024 12:08

I thought I'd missed an episode when there was suddenly a new consultant swanning about - is he the new Max? Don't know if I like him yet. There's no way Rash should be back at work but they're obviously going to completely break him in the name of under-staffing. Jacob running to the hospital was hilarious 😂

Hellocatshome · 24/03/2024 12:23

I'm glad the social worker actually thought about a DNA test. Jacob went from zero to I have a Grandson in less time than it took him to run from God knows where in Holby to the hospital when Blake didn't actually say the baby was his.

thegirlwithkaleidoscopeeyes · 23/03/2024 22:47

i am so confused - was it a double bill tonight? Or did I miss one last week?!

Anyway, I quite like new consultant - he’s all calm and measured a bit like Dylan.

Also brief explanation of why cousin is there, so that’s good.

🤣

Watched both and was still confused!

WelcomeMarchwithwintrywind · 24/03/2024 18:11

Yes, I really like her.

I have heard rumours .😮😮!

Ooh - give us a clue!!

bizzey · 25/03/2024 23:04

Not sure 🤔... Could be classed as a spoiler ...or a preparation?

bizzey · 25/03/2024 23:06

Let's just say ....Charlie was never going to go beyond 40 years ...

JanglingJack · 25/03/2024 23:06

What a load of rubbish. A crap send off and I think it was more to do with BBC cutbacks rather than Charlie. Derek Thompson was once the highest paid actor on the payroll 400K+ per annum.

The flash backs were rubbish. They should have flashed back to when he was working with great actors - Brenda Fricker for starters!
Josh was a good shoe in, but Zoe was never anything major in the department.

As Amanda Mealing said - she wasn't asked. There was definitely something going on paywise because it was the shittest send off ever.
