Todays one was sad for George , but he is keen on talking to Cindy rather than Elaine and that's a big old red flag even if he he told her where he had been etc.
At least penny owned up too
Honesty in EE is rare , yet they are all at it lately

I'm liking it - like you say they normally go down the secrets and lies route - refreshing

the80sweregreat · 03/01/2024 14:58

Yeah, it is refreshing but it makes for short storylines , so they must have more up their sleeve for George n Cindy !
I do predict an affair ( or an emotional affair )
Elaine will know straight away though , nothing gets past her

usernother · 03/01/2024 18:03

I've just googled Penny's mother - Selina - I cannot remember her at all.

the80sweregreat · 03/01/2024 18:07

Selina hasn't been in it much
Jack and Ronnie went over to France for her wedding when she got married and we met penny too , but it was a only one episode or something and nothing much happened that i remember anyway. They seemed wealthy

Only just getting back into EE. Does Whitney not want to be pregnant or is she just feeling for Sonia?

She is scared of history repeating itself and the fetus having the same issues Peach had. Sounds like she would rather get rid of it now than run the risk of having to have a later TMFR 🤔

Meredusoleil · 03/01/2024 21:33

I thought Whitney was going to say she would give the baby to Sonia and Reiss. But then realised it's not that she doesn't want a baby. It's that she doesn't want to risk another pregnancy going wrong and then losing the baby!

Viewer23 · 04/01/2024 07:26

Elaine comes across as so self centred and insensitive, at this rate I think Linda might have been better off buying the pub with Sharon than with her! She’s not very supportive.

HalleLouja · 04/01/2024 08:28

Elaine was the one who pressured L into giving in to Dean. Not the best mother ever.

the80sweregreat · 04/01/2024 15:15

I wonder if George's adopted mum is actually his real mum and the dad was someone else from the community and she couldn't bear to give him up or something like that ?
Obviously a big old lie there about something
going by todays one

Southeastdweller · 04/01/2024 19:46

George isn’t mixed race so Gloria can’t be his biological mother.

Maybe the biological parents were killed by Gloria and / or Eddie?

OP posts:
Viewer23 · 04/01/2024 19:49

I don’t think it will be that dramatic, I think probably Gloria and Eddie applied for custody and were awarded it so the biological parents didn’t get a chance to take George back.

Viewer23 · 04/01/2024 19:50

So basically Gloria and Eddie adopted George and effectively ‘stole’ him from his parents. I read somewhere that Cindy helps him find his biological parents but I don’t know how accurate this is

the80sweregreat · 04/01/2024 19:55

Speculation on Facebook that maybe the new vicar or Yolande are involved ?

Viewer23 · 04/01/2024 19:56

Involved with each other or with George’s adoption?

Viewer23 · 04/01/2024 19:58

I think Denzel is right that the pastor has the hots for Yolande although she seems naive to it based on what she said to Denzel in today’s episode…I don’t think they are involved in the George storyline though.
I hope Yolande doesn’t have an affair, she only just got back with Patrick.

Meredusoleil · 04/01/2024 20:03

I've read a fan theory online that Anna may not actually be George's daughter, but either Cindy had an affair that Eddie found out about or he raped Cindy and is the father himself 😱

Viewer23 · 04/01/2024 20:06

The George storyline has actually made Cindy grow on me because it shows how much she cares for her family. People have been speculating online that there’s something going on/happened between her and Eddie because she clearly dislikes him but I don’t think anything has gone on between them, I think she dislikes him because of the way he bullies George (and now Gina) - and I think the bullying is racially motivated which is sad. It will be interesting to see how the scriptwriters handle the subject and how it will be received by viewers, as it’s a sensitive issue that affects many families in the UK. In a roundabout way it even reminds me of the media controversy with the Royal family which shows how relevant Eastenders can be despite its far fetched storylines!

the80sweregreat · 04/01/2024 20:14

Just Facebook speculation that the vicar is George's dad or Yolande is his mum , but there are many Facebook pages for EE and they tend to speculate about everything on there !
I don't think she is, but I missed a lot of her conversation with Whitney at the allotment and she mentioned a secret she had or something?
( no idea )
I hope they handle George's story delicately and I must admit I have never heard of ' farming ' children ( horrible expression , but what it was called today ) but aware that illegal adoption probably went on , but not amongst the African communities in particular.

the80sweregreat · 04/01/2024 20:19

Cindy has been brilliant and I was never that keen on her character previously.
Probably having mixed race children has opened her eyes to it all on a way she might not have done previously and they might have even experienced some racism in Spain too ?
Although that hasn't been mentioned at all tbf
The dads comments about Gina's hair and having to be ' tamed ' as a person was awful
He is just a nasty character and obviously only interested in the money when they took him in
Probably stayed at work all day and left Gloria to get on with everything else

He couldn't be the father because Anna is mixed race.

Oh I see! Yolande’s secret from her conversation with Whitney was that she made sure she didn’t have children with her first husband because he wasn’t a good husband and she didn’t think he’d be a good father so she took measures to make sure she didn’t get pregnant (or if she did that the pregnancy didn’t continue I think was the implication). Then she expressed her regret that by the time she met Patrick with whom she would happily have had children, it was too late to do it naturally, but they fostered together and that brought her a lot of joy.

I hope they handle George’s story delicately too! I listened to an interview with someone who had a similar experience and it was quite traumatic for her, although she said some others had more positive experiences. She also said that there still seemed to be an air of secrecy around it and whenever she reached out to people to talk about it, nobody wanted to. 70000 children were affected! The Channel 5 documentary was quite powerful, it might still be on their streaming service.

Bunionbabe · 05/01/2024 08:26

I'm surprised that if Whit was so determined never to have another pregnancy why she didn't have more secure contraception, even sterilisation. To abort another baby 'just in case' is unbelievable.

Shellingbynight · 05/01/2024 08:42

I'm surprised no mention has been made of failed contraception in the Whitney storyline because I agree that surely she would have ensured she couldn't get pregnant. But after that chat with Yolande she's going ahead with the pregnancy anyway, I wonder how this is going to play into her exit.

I'm wondering what the twist is with George's adoptive parents. I guess that his parents did want him back, and they effectively 'stole' him? It is probably significant that Gloria said she they never met his mother.

I think Cindy is hostile to Eddie because she already knew he was a bigot, she said he had made comments about Gina when she was a child.

the80sweregreat · 05/01/2024 08:45

The Whitney story is actually annoying me
