Penny is definitely pointless. I didn’t understand what happened with the drugs storyline and the gangster woman Juliet she is so afraid of. Did big daddy Jack make all of that just disappear so she isn’t facing any charges? He barely does any real police work but is always able to “pull a few strings” and call in favours with his bosses when needed.

Penny is a useless character
As is nugget and a few other hangers on !

I don’t think Penny has had enough time yet to develop as a character. I read she becomes friends with Eve, next week.

Eve! That'll be a good pairing I think. They are a bit similar in character.
I wonder if Stacey and Jack will continue their affair or not ( at a later date !)?

I thought Penny agreed to give evidence against Juliet in return for not being prosecuted? But it all died a death so I have no idea.

I am also not sure why Lauren was brought back. I assumed she'd get back with Peter but that hasn't happened, maybe she is destined for Zack.

I was thinking they are already setting up Lauren and Zack.

Whitney hasn't even left and Zack is sniffing around her.

But I think there will be a bunch fight between her and Penny over Zack. Seeing as they are cousins.

I cannot stand Nugget. He's just awful. He acts like a prick all the time and then cries like a baby when his 'nana' or whatever he calls her, isn't around.

Yes, the story Thursday that saw him and the other girl (whose name I can't remember!) get denzel fired was so annoying. I'm not sure what either of these characters add!!

Looking at spoilers for next week and short summaries for the week after, I can't see any reference to Whitney or Zack. I hope they don't rush her exit (but expect they will) or ignore it for a few weeks and go back to the Britney story, expecting us to still care.

I've been so frustrated this week with such rubbish writing

I have disliked Nugget from the start, irritating little squirt who cannot haul a sentence together without the word "Bro" in it .

I so wanted him to be one of the Christmas Corpses.....

Also intense;y irritated by Sonia's skirt length. Yesterday it barely covered her arse . And as she is based in a surgery she should not be out and about having lunch in a cafe in uniform.
Infection Control , Sonia . Infection Control.
Or do we need reminding that she's a Nurse as she never seems to do any bloody work

Zac was given the afternoon off by Ravi after he'd had goodness knows how many days off before then !!
I actually like Ravi these days though , but not too many employees would do this

Ooh Ravi is lovely , when they brought him into Eastenders (on that huuuge motorbike , nearly ran Stacey over ) there was a Kheerat/Ravi Good/Evil set up .
Just out of the Big House and got his sights on Stace to piss off his Goody Two Shoes Half Brother

He looks like he has the best make-up artist , DD and I always wonder Is he wearing eyeliner ?

And then they bring along his awful ex partner and daughter to up the ante of his awful son. He's quite strict with Nugget but Avani is allowed to get away with everything .

While he's trying to be a good Dad , (Well that's what he's telling Zak)

Avani is vile, rude and ignorant. A gobby little madam who needs a good slap or two. Why is she allowed to get away with being such a little shit? Her and Nugget. But not many good parental role models around.

I think you're right re Lauren and Penny both being interested in Zack. Moreso after last night, I wondered if Lauren's reaction to the attempted kiss because she does actually like him - there was definitely a frisson.

I suppose there aren't many interesting/available men that age on the square. Is Ravi still with Chelsea? She dumped him so many times I've lost track.

That is so true about Sonia, she never does any work so the uniform is to remind us she's a nurse. I wonder when Reiss's stolen IVF cash is going to run out.

Most of the teen cast are really annoying and not particularly good actors. I do like Amy though.

And she went for lunch without telling anyone. It’s a small clinic. They surely mention to whoever they’re working with that they are leaving for an hour?

And apart from dressing up, Rhys arrived to whisk her off for the day to cheer her up. When can a nurse abruptly leave work without any notice because she fancies a long lunch followed by an episode of Bargain Hunt.

I understand that Sonja missed out in Bec’s babyhood and with her bio clock ticking would be stressed about time and costs so apart from the speed of her relationship with Rhys - she was always single before so wouldn’t have considered motherhood again I guess.

Nugget is a good character because he's quite believable in that he's so annoying which is very typical of most boys of his age

Nish was very out of character when she arrived , Avani was rude and back-chatting even then but he just simpered Awww isn't she so funny and feisty whereas The Nish We Know would've been "Look Missy in this house you show respect "
Was Ash a proper Daddy's Girl (even though he was in prison for most of it !)

Sonia's patients will just have their Consultations in the Square , The Vic, The Cafe . The E20 .....I think the only place she hasn't dispensed advice and SuperSonia Care is McClunkys

Maybe the government should sign her up to sort out the NHS.

The strangest thing about Sonia (amongst many odd things) is she hangs out with people like Kathy and Elaine. The other day she took them out for boozy lunchtime drinks. How many 38 year old women spend all their time socialising with women in their 70s.

She was gifted a house that is worth well over £1 million so has no mortgage but has left the place decorated like some kind of awful post war relic. No updated kitchen or nice soft furnishings. Again very unrealistic for a woman of her age. As for pairing up with a man like Reiss, don’t get me started.

The writers must hate Reiss more than we do on here to make him dress up in that rabbit outfit ! I did laugh , which is a rare thing on this soap

I admit that one of my ' besties ' is nearly 71 and I'm 13 years younger , but I agree that Sonia's age gap and her friends is unrealistic !
However , EE soap rules mean that you only hang out with your relatives/ distant relatives or whatever and people who live on the square.
Having friends outside this 'bubble 'is a rare thing. (Unless they want to write you out and you are banished to Milton Keynes )

Sonia has always acted older than her age so I can believe her hanging out with pensioners.

Is she only 38? I’m a decade older. I thought she was my age.

I’ve noticed her friendship with Kathy and Elaine too. And her absence from the Linda, Denise, Sharon group.’ Kathy flows between both.

She is a great character and provides a lot of entertainment whether we love her or hate her.

I always thought they wanted Sonia to be a ' new Dot ' but if she has a child with the Easter bunny , that wouldn't work really.
I find the character annoying myself, but she is well played by Natalie Cassidy and she does seem to love Reiss a lot

I thought that too, for a time she was the square’s new agony aunt.

If she has a baby, she can’t be the square’s busybody. Then again in EE, kids don’t have any impact on adults working or drinking.

No, true! Babies are just placed in the ' kiddie cupboard ' !
