Great episode today. I found it hard to watch though, even before the cliffhanger ending.

Southeastdweller · 04/03/2024 18:26

I felt a bit lectured to today, but I’m intrigued to find out what happens with our Whit. Will the writers let her have a happy ending after everything she’s been through? I hope so.

In answer to PP question re the Masoods I think Zainab went back to Pakistan but Masood who had been with Jane Beale went to Australia in his camper van (old ice cream van) as one does in EE with no visa and just a rucksack!

lazymum99 · 04/03/2024 18:36

Just watched today’s. Was a bit of a lecture re kids disappearing from school after the pandemic. We knew Whitney wasn’t going to have any good luck [sigh]

Viewer23 · 04/03/2024 18:53

Hopefully Whitney’s baby is ok! She’ll probably foster the little girl Britney

Long time lurker on this thread. I find Dean's daughter so irritating. Terrible actress , I turn over when she's on!! I hope this storyline disappears soon.

Its the exaggerated facial expressions and over acting that's hideous.

Meredusoleil · 04/03/2024 19:36

Very traumatic tonight. Why did they have to do that to Whitney? Hopefully the baby survives.

Meredusoleil · 04/03/2024 19:40

Also, it was going OK until Bianca waded in 🤦‍♀️

Yes, and I cringe whenever she calls him ‘dad’ because they look pretty much the same age.

Yes it really is. She just seems the wrong choice for this character, hence the over acting .And I wish she would cover her bloody mouth when she coughs!🤣

tryingsomethingnew · 04/03/2024 19:58

Oh my goodness!! Poor Whitney! Any spoilers- I can't bear not knowing if she's okay?

I want to know too. It's not looking good though. If she doesn't survive, hopefully the baby will. Maybe Sonia and Reiss will bring it up and Bianca will take Britney in?!?

tryingsomethingnew · 04/03/2024 20:06

Oh good one. That would make sense to add to the storyline

the80sweregreat · 04/03/2024 20:08

I did read that Whitney and the baby are fine !
Although that was horrible and a year since Peach too :(

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 04/03/2024 20:11

Isn’t Whitney leaving anyway? I sort of liked the episode but to me it was a bit like “here’s a poor council estate family with a neglectful mother” though it was interesting to hear the headteacher talk about the presumably true “ghost children”.

the80sweregreat · 04/03/2024 20:27

I'm not sure that a head teacher would be willing to talk to someone about a pupil even if Britney has never attended the school
Safeguarding , GDPR etc would come into play and she didn't even ask Whitney for any ID either. That was so unrealistic, but I suppose it's just poetic license.
It was chilling the mothers boyfriend saying that Britney was a ' good girl ' or whatever he said :(
Sad storyline and Sonia was just nasty to Whitney too :(

Meredusoleil · 04/03/2024 20:29

Also, since when is Zack driving a car like that (what make was it anyway) and why would he risk parking it right in the middle of a rough council estate?!? I think he got off lightly when they only let the tyres down. He's lucky the car wasn't keyed as well!

meow1989 · 04/03/2024 20:41

I usually really like Whitney, but the acting (or potentially the script) all round was just atrocious today.

Unrealistic even by EastEnders standards: gdpr breaches all over the place; not stopping your pregnant girlfriend going round to bang on a drug addicts door to have a go; very forced and GCSE drama.

Also made mk look like an absolute ghetto!

RedToothBrush · 04/03/2024 20:43

Wasn't it just lucky that the only nurse in the whole of London was just happening to visit her Mum when all of this kicked off.

Saint Sonia to the rescue again.

Meanwhile Whitney gets yet another Great Act of Misfortune.

And Zack spends the entire episode standing around like a wet lettuce who is more bothered about his ridiculous hairdryer on wheels than a 12 year old kid.

As for the school. The head wouldn't even know that much nor discuss someone not on roll unless they were in the process of trying to enroll in the school. This kid would have been wiped off their books after two years otherwise it'd affect their stats too much. They'd just say it was a matter for social services or the education department at the local council not them.

But the script writers wanted to do an awareness broadcast on 'An Issue'. It's been jammed into a single episode rather than telling a story over time in a more realistic way and the net result is it looks and feels utter contrived and moralistic to a degree that's bad even for a soap because it's disjointed and awkward in the manner it's been shoehorned into one episode.

Obviously Whitney is going to ride off into the sunset with this kid (either with or without the baby). Zack will object and Whit will choose Council Estate Girl over him.

Yawnfest. I feel lectured to. It's a shame as it is actually a worthwhile storyline. It's just been so badly done so we can suffer months of the dreadful Nasty Nish storyline instead.

meow1989 · 04/03/2024 20:44

also; major spoilers;

Whitney and baby are fine, Britney's mum is arrested, Whitney stays to foster Britney because it works like that and Zack throws his toys out the pram and leaves to go to walford

MK isn't a Ghetto?

More roundabouts and concrete cows please!

meow1989 · 04/03/2024 20:47

Well, I thought Bianca and Sonia left walford because "there's opportuni-ies in miwlon Keynes!

Off topic, my favourite urban legend about mk is that when they connected the fire hydrants(or whatever we have in the UK) they connected them to the gas mains instead of the water mains and narrowly avoided a catastrophic disaster

the80sweregreat · 04/03/2024 20:53

Bianca left with Terry for MK , but they have split up.
It wasn't made clear if she works ?

StickNMove · 04/03/2024 21:03

Awful ending. Poor Whit can’t catch break 😔

Bloody nurse Sonia on the scene, though, in between her shifts at the hospital, GP practice and long lunches in the Vic.

Overall, I didnt like this episode. Disjointed and some very wooden acting and a bad script. The school bit was totally unrealistic and the headteacher’s dialogue was dreadful.

Nice to see Bianca, though,

You live in a mansion around Walford Square for peanuts near central London. So you move to a shitty council estate with antisocial behaviour issues in Milton Keynes, for 'the opportunities'.

You've got to love EastEnders sometimes!
